    I believe the sheer size and scale of what we call a universe is inconceivable. The universe may only be a single drop of water.

      "Inconceivable" is not a useful parameter, and "belief" based on a lack of knowledge is nothing. So you have useless nothing. The Universe, as you would discover if you were to bother to do some reading, cannot be "only a single drop of water." I have no idea how a grown adult lives with so little education, but you are certainly not alone.

    I have heard this grain of sand on the Earths beaches analogy. We can’t even decide how long a nations coastline is. Find the grain of sand I dropped into the stratosphere 40 years ago, it’s painted orange and I can tell you that (I know) it landed on a beach on the Earth. Find it .Get on it!

    • @alexisgt
      @alexisgt 2 дні тому

      We CAN "decide" how long a shoreline of ANY nation can be. It's a decision, after all. We can decide to call the color yellow, blue.
      What you meant to say is that due to fractal geometry, a shoreline can never be said to be an exact length.

    • @Preciouspink
      @Preciouspink 2 дні тому

      The point being how do you count grains of sand in the presence of the Shoreline Paradox.
      Yes, a nation’s shoreline can be analyzed using fractal geometry, and this concept is often referred to as the “coastline paradox.”
      What is the Coastline Paradox?
      The coastline paradox highlights that the length of a coastline depends on the scale or resolution of measurement. If you measure a coastline using large units (e.g., kilometers), you’ll get a shorter length than if you use smaller units (e.g., meters). This is because coastlines are highly irregular, with intricate curves, inlets, and features that smaller measurement units can capture but larger units smooth over.
      Fractal Geometry and Coastlines
      • Fractals are mathematical shapes or patterns that exhibit self-similarity at different scales. Coastlines are considered natural fractals because their irregularity remains consistent when observed at various scales, though not perfectly self-similar.
      • Fractal Dimension: Instead of having a fixed dimensionality (like a straight line, which is 1-dimensional), a coastline has a fractal dimension somewhere between 1 (a straight line) and 2 (a flat plane). This dimension quantifies how “jagged” or complex the coastline is.
      Measuring with Fractals
      When applying fractal geometry to shorelines:
      1. Smaller scales increase length: As the measurement unit becomes smaller, more of the coastline’s details are included, and the total length increases.
      2. Fractal analysis: By plotting the measured length against the scale of measurement, you can calculate the fractal dimension of the coastline, which gives an idea of its complexity.
      Practical Applications
      • Cartography: Understanding the fractal nature of coastlines helps improve map accuracy.
      • Environmental Studies: Fractal analysis can assist in studying erosion, sea-level rise, and changes in coastal ecosystems.
      • Geography and Economics: Coastal complexity impacts shipping, trade, and resource management.
      In short, fractal geometry provides a powerful framework to describe and measure the intricate and scale-dependent nature of coastlines.

    I do not think we are alone but maybe within 2000 light years, or more, we may be the most advanced life forms, which explains why we are not hearing much.
    Most likely within the first 10,000 light years we may be the first ones to discover fire and use tools. We may have to travel 20, 30, maybe even 100,000 light years away before we find another life form as advanced as we are. Life may not be rare, but intelligent life like us.. We are probably exceptionally rare. Even on Earth, our intelligence is so rare that out of billions of life forms here on earth. We are the only ones that build cities and cars and civilizations. And this is a planet that is RICH with life... So you gotta think our intelligence is probably one in several billion.

    Now what if it is all created by one God and that God's purpose is here not elsewhere in the universe

    Yeah, there is no argument that you can have life without water. 100% you need water.
    For life, for a complicated self-replicating thing, you need more than just the basic elements. You need to break them down and combine them into something else. For that, you need water. No other liquid will do.

    My solution to the Fermi Paradox: Interstellar travel and interstellar communication have NEVER been possible due to the laws of physics. Since the universe has stabilized, millions of civilisations have thrived, reached an advanced state then withered away, having depleted all their available resources, trapped in their own solar system, just as we are.
    These civilisations have built radio-telescopes to listen to the void, but to no avail. Artificial signals have always been, and always will be too weak not to fade away in the Oort clouds/gas clouds surrounding each star. Like we did, they built space station, reached their moon(s), maybe their closest planet, but that's all. Probes were sent, but were just too insignificant to be noticed, and died.
    The best aspect of this solution is that it does not contradict anything we have witnessing so far: No ships, no signals, no signatures, no megastructures, nothing.
