you fools just assumed i was talking about the excavator but in reality I was referencing the incredible sketchiness of that tiny jump or not, who knows.
This is what one of my uncle does for work. Another thing to know, at the end of work make sure to flatten everything from the tracks. Water will not collect and your trail will dry up a lot faster even after rain. Nice work Phil!
Using an excavator was the best thing for my trailbuilding skills. I can focus my energy on perfecting the train instead of moving a ton of dirt or a giant root. Great decision! And making berms are the easiest thing ever, just using the radius of the arm.
I can remember being sad when I thought for a while that this channel was kind of petering out... then Phil bought his house and started going NUTS. No longer sad.
Cool video, you might try to have the blade to the back when digging. It changes the tip point and gives you more down force on the bucket. It’s worth a try. Play hard and have fun. Thanks
Good purchase. Both my cats are awesome, best machines out there imo. We use them every day digging trail and they dont quit. Good luck! -Black Diamond Designs
Worth getting an experienced driver to show you some tips and tricks, I spent 2 days moving earth around, driver came, looked puzzled, 30 minutes later was perfect. They will show you loads of little tips, just like you would show them how to ride. Great video as always and wish you would do prizes to come ride your trails. Thanks from the UK
if you're going up a steep hill, put the blade at the down slope side. That way if it starts to tilt back, you can jam the blade down and it'll keep you from flipping.
NOW there's that dolphin giggle we've all been missing 🎉 THIS is very worthy Patreon support progress. Can't wait for the next video, and the next, and the...
Great idea with the log grading idea! We do that building bridges with the big machines. Grab a steel H-beam with the thumb and shape. Impressed to see how quickly you get the hang of things!
Phil!!! Thunder Mountain is open! You should go ride there! As much i love seeing you building your dream trals, i really loved that you rode Thunder Mountain. Your video of you riding there and the Fort Hill jump line helped me ride there more confidently. Hope to see you there soon!
As a excavator driver for the past 8 years I can say that it looks like your doing a great job, just a few points that I thought I would point out to try and help, learn how to climb on top of the piles of dirt you are generating as it will help to build taller features and will save making a mess of the edge of your trail, watch out for digging to deep around trees as this could potentially lead to trees falling over or dying (general rule of thumb is the root structure will reach out as far as the canopy you can see above ground) same with filling around the base of trees to high as this causes rot at the base of the trunk, and the last point the best form of compaction in a machine is to track over it evenly and use the weight of the machine to compact instead of your bucket as this will cause issues in the long run with your machine..... keep up the good work man loving your videos and you will be a master operator in no time 👊🤙😎
Thought the baby excavator was kickass but when it was moving that entire large dirt pile as fast as it did I was surprised. Even with it being loose dirt that is amazing relative to hand work!
Phil, it might be worth while to cut the decking off of the flyover below where the lip is that way the transition between the lip and the decking is smooth. I think it will look and function better that way.
Digger driver london. Little tip phil. Track the machine up and down the track you made. Then put on the wide bucket lift your tracks up afew inches by pushing it down on the ground then drag the bucket down the slope or trail you made. ONLY DO THIS WHEN YOUR TRACKS ARE STAIGHT WITH THE BUCKET. HOPE THIS HELPS .. DOING GOOD BRO.😊
Bruh, your shredding is next level, you were treating that flyover as if it was a jump, like from the top of the flyover to where it evens out is like 15 feet, no wonder you actually were a pro racer.
Just a tip you'll want to do some gradual compacting as you build, it'll help the trail last a lot longer. Otherwise these features will erode more easily.
oh and you will def save time and money with a articulating bucket also know as the landscapers buck. well in the NH neck of the woods. i run machines for a living.
When I saw you add a little jump on your big structure. I thought to myself: "What, he wants to go to the stratosphere !!!" Damn it! Too crazy for ordinary people. Tkx for this video Phil.
Meow. Pretty quick progression on the machine! I think you can assign the buttons to do whatever you want ! Probably loads of sweet attachments for it too! So glad you figured out the log grader!
Now things are going to get interesting. I have always preferred dirt features. You can rent one of these for about $300 a weekend and you can get a lot of work done in that time.
Congrats on your new Cat! Nice machine. Looks like you have some skills on it too :) Quick tip, if you are using the offset at full reach its best to have the tracks extended for stability. Happy trail building.
seth‘s gonna be jealous...
he can buy one if he wants
He said he didn’t want one till he masters building trails by hand
you fools just assumed i was talking about the excavator but in reality I was referencing the incredible sketchiness of that tiny jump

Hmm... what else you got to tell us Phil!
Well, that excavated quickly!

Hell yeah brother

Nice work Phil!
No one:
No sane person ever:
Phil on everything: Yeah, I can totally jump that!
Love how your trail is coming along, thanks for the videos!
He sees the grand canyon
"I can bunny hop that"
Next month with skills with phill
I built darkfest in my garden

Phil's mid-air laughs are fantastic

If you were to buy one used, what sort of budget would you need depending on the size and type?
@@blameitonben I would go for a used Wacker Neuson with VDS - about 3.8 tons. Budget for a used is 150.000 dkk and up
This CAT opens up sooo many possibility for the trials. i cant wait to see it all happen!
Damn Phil has machine quality trails in his backyard... I’m jealous
I can remember being sad when I thought for a while that this channel was kind of petering out... then Phil bought his house and started going NUTS. No longer sad.
100% this! So glad he's cranking out content again with a proper home/yard setup!
I think that's was when he was in college.
I worked at Milton cat right where you bought that for years repairing those machines. They are by far the best. I’m still repairing but for myself
Every mountain biker in existence: I WANT ONE
I don’t want one.
The Flip you have lost mtb privileges
Theyre only 25-30k.

the cats so cute
lol
"Trying to get the machine to do what you think, and not what you tell it to." Pure wisdom, and applicable to every machine down to a hammer.
This is the type of CAT

Excellent work...!!! 👍👍👍

Ooooohhhh... that light colored dirt is so wonderful building with!
Oh shit, next level! Within a month you'll be on fire with that thing!
That log trick is super smart to increase the surface area!!
Good purchase. Both my cats are awesome, best machines out there imo. We use them every day digging trail and they dont quit. Good luck! -Black Diamond Designs
There is something to satisfying about watching you work that thing.
Every lift you add remember to use your tracks to compact it. Straddle each pass. Great job for just learning!

Moving dirt looks fun.

Good to see the Force again. Awesome job you 2!
Heavy equipment is a force multiplier!!
Nice, I’ve always wanted one as well
Yussss! Finally one of these channels gets an excavator! Time to get some real work done
Nobody: What's your dream vehicle?
Phil: Zero tail-swing mini-excavator!
And yes that was a good tip about using the log to smooth out the jumps!
The only CAT id ever adopt, good on you! Wearing my red skills with phil shirt today actually!
Love the footage of you using the cat, it looks like old time stop motion
So rad. Not only is that extension sketchy, but you decided to hit it for the first time in the rain...
Some of these shots are looking pretty cinematic
Thought the baby excavator was kickass but when it was moving that entire large dirt pile as fast as it did I was surprised. Even with it being loose dirt that is amazing relative to hand work!
Those excavator hacks are great 👍
Sketchy feature made sketchier, brilliant Phil 👍

Over the top. Love it. Phil’s own CAT! Jealous. Great video and nice work with that CAT.
It’s a great thing when you found and have the ability to work and utilize clay when you find it....it’s really only feasible with equipment
good to see you on a proper bike again
I dub thee Fluffy the Trail Kitty😺!
Sweet new ride!
Congrats on the new CAT. Bet that's going to be a lot of fun.
Game changer!! Your guys hardwork paying off , congrats you both deserve it!

your trails are coming along great! keep it up!!!
Hearing "Look at its cuteness" in Hailey's voice is so endearing. I'll remember that the next time I see an excavator.
That is a pretty neat digger
Phil's backyard trail build is going to save 2020 from being a complete bummer.
We use a similar trick with a large steel pipe for smoothing out ground with large excavators.
big boys and their toys beautiful machine now to send it shred hard phil love watching your videos
That wood feature is huge...I can't imagine what you'll come up with next...Keep up the good work. My channel is jealous and it should be.

It’s so awesome that u got the CAT man. It’s awesome how much faster you can build things and you are already getting good at it
I canNOT believe you jumped that little kicker. Crazy guy! Ha!
Congrats on the sweet tool!

I think Heily is awesome to stand around and film Phil and help him😀
She's amazing. Most of the time she's at work doing smart science people stuff while I'm building and will come out to visit when she gets home.
