Seth at the beginning of Berm Peak: I'm just gonna trim some branches, no major damage to the flora on the property
Seth now: I bought an excavator!

Didnt see it coming either, wow
I was looking for this comment
I was gonna comment this!
When climbing steep terrain, I always climb with my drive sprocket at the front. That way you can put your blade down to stay where you are and re adjust your boom for your next push
Seth all I have to say is always always always wear your seatbelt! I unfortunately saw a man using a seam roller. He turned on a hill that he had turned on many times but this one was just a bit different in some way and it rolled the roller. The safety cage that was supposed to save him in a roll killed him instantly. He was throw from the seat landed face first and the cage came down on his neck. If he had seat belt on he would have been fine as the cage did not even deform.
I totally agree and feel sorry for you that you had to witness this terrible accident.
I fear that this will one day happen to one of my colleagues too. The dont work with excavators but with forklifts, the danger ist the same.
The seat belt buckle is equiped with a sensor that checks if the are using it but what they do is sitting on their seatbelt.
A few dass ago one of the forklifts was almost tilted by a reversing truck, nothing changed.
@@perzyvalsimmons5946 But... why don't they just wear the belt??? Does it constrict you in any way?
They don’t wear the belt out of convenience. Even flat industrial settings can have tip overs. As long as you stay in the cage, the cage should keep you safe
I have rolled a couple times when I just started. It wasent too bad no injuries you can kinda just push yourself back up w the arm if u just fall on your face. Same in a skidsteer I have been driving heavy equipment for about 10 years now mainly for plumbing tree clearing or road making I’m 15 and learning more about my equipment every day u always have to respect how powerful it is
Also yea seatbelts are a must they saved me and my whole family of 6 in Colorado when our breaks went out on a mountain and we fell 300 ft some how we all liked w scrape bruises and scars for some and a few broken bones for others. All I’m saying is we probably wouldn’t be alive if it wasn’t for seatbelts (also please if you want to get a Polaris side by side it won’t have a emergency brake or any other form of breaking then the normal brake so just be careful)

Name it Doug. Or Dug. Because it digs. And when you’re done you can say “Dug dug that.” Just lean in to the dad joke as much as possible. Or Dug joke.
I’ll see myself out.
It's cheesy but I dug it.
If it was in Australia, they'd name it Dale - and only Aussies would ever get the joke.
I would maybe even go full Dugless (Douglas). *rimshot

As an equipment guy I would have gone for the 308 but congrats man. And you are likely right about the state of the dollar.
And by the way when you were climbing the ledge and pushing yourself up with the stick that was great but you couldn’t move the boom without rocking back you should have put the blade down to block yourself up and then reset the boom for another push. It makes sense in my head but it’s hard to describe.
If you read this I hope you have a great day
@@LukeDoesStuffYT thank you, means a lot.
yeah in watching it I noticed that! I could have dropped the blade to stop myself, and repositioned the bucket to give it another push.
@@BermPeakExpress hey still learning. Thanks for the reply. Made my week just to hear from you.
This is how I would have done it to. Assuming you mean blade down on the same side as the extended boom. The blade would have also given some lift. Those machines are scary when you're on an incline and they wobble.
After the shirp I'm fully expecting another rc car

Same here! Love Berm Peak
Sick!!! SAME
Hey man, love your videos! I've been an operator for about 5 years or so, watching you learn is super cool. One thing that would be beneficial to your work, is learning to extend the hoe all the way out and bringing it back level 😉 it'll save ALOT of time, also, when digging/grading etc, put your blade down, it acts as a stabilizer and SAVES YOUR BACK TRUST ME
At 5:30 when you’re trying to go up the hill, go up backwards with the blade downhill of the cab, the put the blade down but not touching so that you can use it to help stabilize while pushing yourself up
Nice! Can’t wait to see more trail builds!
If you read this I hope you have a great day
This "serie" is so good! 🔥
Sick
Hey seth sweet machine! im a trail builder from revelstoke. A couple hopefully helpful comments...😅 you called the bucket the blade... the bucket does have a cutting edge on it... the biggest rip i have for ya is when adjust track with you dont need to lift both track of the ground. pit you buck on the ground to one side and lift just the one track of the ground. then while adjusting the track width with push or pull the stick(section the bucket is attached to) in or out as the track width narrows or widens. do it this way can be generally done almost anywhere and doesn't require being on totally flat ground.
As an equipment operator of 10+ years and somewhat new mtb rider I commend your eagerness to maneuver the machine. No better experience than seat time my friend!
When you want to turn and not damage the trail use the boom and lift part of the machine up. It will alleviate a little bit of damage to the trail and you can turn easier.
Seth started out years ago showing us how to use zip ties to keep bike cables in place and here he is becoming a licensed excavator pilot. He's come a looong way
Not me getting excited every time Seth uploads on either of his channels 😂 Thank you very much for everything you do, very much a person that I look up to and admire to be. Great work!
Easily my favorite piece of equipment, so versatile and fun to run. Make sure to keep up on greasing the pivot points and regular maintenance and it will last you a lifetime. Good luck have fun and wear your seatbelt when running it especially on trails like that.
Me seeing Seth going down the hill thinks “oh lord that is sketchy!” Seth doing it “I think we’ll be fine!”
I like how at the start he sed he wanted hand cut trails lol😂. Nun wrong with this good job
Perfect Sunday video for Me because I just did a massive bike race at about 26 miles. Love these… they’re so entertaining
So happy for you Seth! I love that heavy equipment machine stuff! Have fun with it!
I love how he is just sitting in the dirt playing with his rc excavator
Seth, you have convinced me that I need the same excavator.
Even though I live in New York City.
Just a tip for you, when you want to pack in or "polish" the shape you just created, do it by moving the bucket backwards and slightly tilted up so the blade doesn't dig in. That way, it does not mess up the work you did by dragging dirt to the sides. And like other commenters said, while pushing your self up a ledge with the stick, do it with the blade facing down the slope. Then you can use it kind of like a hand brake.
I'm so jealous, have fun on that machine! They're really fun, aren't they?
Awsome addition Seth, just be really careful with the excavator, this thing can flip in a second and crush you to a slow death. As a motocross racer in my life I known to much kid who lost their dad because of bobcat or excavator accident while shaping the tracks. Your land is way sketchier than a motocross track. So always be careful please. I don't want to lose my favorite youtuber ^^.
A) Can't wait to see that thing get slathered in stickers. B) Here's a challenge: I think you should build an RC Crawler course using only the RC Excavator.
Fantastic video, plus loved the additional shots with the toy RC one! Just be careful & take it easy learning how to use it !!!
Passion put into action! This is so awesome! Be safe!
Wow you finally bought one i never thought the day would come
If you read this I hope you have a great day
Mini Excavators are amazing machines. Rented them numerous times when in lived in the mountains of NC. The scariest day of your life will be when you lift something heavy with it and you swing the boom around while you're on an incline.
man it brings me so much happiness to see how far you've come Seth like holy.. was just in Florida not to long ago in a small shed and now making literally parks I love it
Hey Seth, nice little Cat 302! I was watching the video and noticed that the bucket didn’t have any hardfacing welds on it. That basically means someone would weld on the bucket so when you are digging or whatever it will wear down the weld not the bucket itself. If you’re going to be using the bucket a lot you might want to consider it. I used to do it on big skid steer and excavator buckets.
Seth. There's a class you can take on using this. It's also a job that pays a freaken lot of money if you're worried about the cost.
Ow yeah all you need is a mini excavator and a pickup truck. If you can control it like it’s part of your body you’ll make a killing and have tons of work year round.
"Probably holds value better than cash, which I hope that's an exaggeration"
JPow: I'm gonna print so much money
😂 given that the official numbers are at 5% and reality is closer to 9%, I sure hope that Machine isn't depreciating at 10% / year!
Seth's a professional excavator operator at this point! Keep up the great work!
when doing the inch worm climbing using the lower plow to lock in your location as you use the boom arm to climb prevents you from sliding on those dramatic grades! I don’t know if someone has said this already said this and I want to make it clear I was not “properly trained” in driving these. But I have been around and using machinery like this for the better part of 15 years(since is was about 10)
I think Seth is going crazy with the rcs... Soon enough all of berm peak will be built by all kinds of rcs...
I’ve always wanted one of those (the rc one)

Dang that's some serious investing Seth! I'm sure it's a good one though, especially at the other park!
berm peak definitely needed this. good choice seth. call it *the beast of berm peak*
Being a Safety Nancy for a second. It's better you damage your equipment rather than sticking your hand to move something and possibly break it/amputate it which is extremely easy to do with heavy equipment.
If you read this I hope you have a great day
This channel has definitely shifted from "you can do this in your own backyard" to "here's how pro trail builders do it with heavy machinery". Not a bad transition and there are other channels out there still doing the DIY trails, but sometimes I miss the "old" bike hacks.
So stoked dude this is gonna change everything
Seth, AMBC Fall Fest is this Saturday Nov 6th at Baker Creek. Hope to see you there.

Wow Set hedging against inflations and meming about it in its video😂
Yup its official, Seth can make anything and everything entertaining...
YESSS WE ALL WAITED FOR THIS!
I got a couple names for the excavator: "Boom Slayer" "Terence" "TRAX" "Automation" and my personal favorite "lil digger"
I still remeber somebody saying "handcut trails are a bit endangered specie, so I want then to fluorish here on Berm Peak"...
Then rented a mini excavator for some main road overhaul.
Then did the same for a another "major" trail...
...and then bought one.
World is very hilarious place :-)
One of my favorite things about excavators is and will always be how god damn maneuverable they actually are.
It's amazing what you can do with a bucket on a boom arm.
Nice you finally got your own
It does hold value more than cash!!!! Now putting fuel in it will cost your sole....LETS GO BRANDON!!!
Good stuff Seth I like where you're going with this!
I was thinking you could call it the CATastrophe, but that might just be asking for trouble haha
Seth went from unboxing a dropper post to buying an excavator to build his own MTB trail. I respect that a lot. Great content & amazing creator.
nice machine! wish we had something similar to this for our trails ;P I´d call it Bob ...or the chapman.
I know you are just learning, and I don’t mean any disrespect in any way. I am a excavator operator and when you are trying to get up or down things, it’s actually more dangerous to push from behind. Always pull from the front in the Direction you’re going. Also you have 5 to 10x more power up close and pulling to you. One more thing be care full how much you use the tilt on the bucket. But using it, you are putting pressure at a angle on the boom at the joints, so only use it if it’s light dirt you are carving. They will brake a lot easier then you think, and never try to push something with the side of your bucket it dose the same thing but way worse. I hope this helps and if you ever need tips just ask😁. Awsome videos keep it up 👍
He was having way to much fun with that rc excavator
Call it “Berm-E” which is short for Berm-Excavator but also sounds like the movie “Wall-E”
This is awesome - just stay safe! In my opinion you got yourself an "Igor" here.
hey buddy I'm sure others may have said but when going uphill have the blade on the downhill side so you can set the blade and regroup the bucket. keep up the good work and be blessed
very cool! i just realized you are only a hour and a half from where im at (greensboro NC), I hope to come check out the trails with the scale rigs sometime soon dude
Seth, I would love to here your thoughts on how the smaller rental excavator compares to your new slightly larger one for overall versatility and bench cutting on steep side slopes. Seems like the one positive thing about a smaller track width would reduce the number of trees that need to be removed to fit the trail in but maybe all the other benefits out weigh that.
Jeez, the trails made with this are going to be insane! When’s the chair lift getting installed? 😉
Edit: I think “Sally” has a nice ring to it. 😅
That side tilt is great. I need one
Seth! i recommend a "thumb" attachment. we have one and I believe they are a necessity for mini excavators
it‘s just so much fun!
pretty good operating, good job 👍
Uncle Terry Rex is best name for the machine. Also was wondering when you would buy one, glad to see you did
Cool video!!
Not even joking, the tilting bucket and the track getting narrower was so sick
Your content is amazing
It was only a matter of time!! So awesome.
Very nice. You are going to find a lot of uses for that piece of equipment. Plus it is .3 bigger than Phil's.
this is awesome!
Tilt-Shifty, fun if you're sort of into photography ;-)
I can see Seth becoming firm friends with his local hydraulics company.
Probably worth getting a couple of the link hoses on the end of the boom in stock in the workshop, track motor and blade hoses too as you like attacking sticks, those you can easily swap out yourself.
Pray you never need swap any going through the base!
2nd most important tool for mini diggers is a foam bodyboard to use as a creeper/kneel on when you're fixing it.
if you read this. i run an excavator for work and going up steep slopes just have your boom all the way out in front and as low as possible and shell go up anything. i run a 336 cat excavator and im going up 45 degree angles. yes there will be a learning curve for sure but gotta get more seat time to get better. keep it up and youll be a an expert in no time running one
Idk why when I read the title, the outdo DBZ song started playing in my mind. Lol. Good stuff Seth

I work on equipment everyday, that's sweet seeing you buy a mini, that's about the size of a Deere 26G you could always install a thumb if you wanted youd just loose the tilt till you swap the Aux lines
