    Also you probably learned this already, as evidenced by your grinding on the pin, and then using the 2x4 to hammer on, but when you hit the end of a steel pin with a steel hammer you flare out the end of the pin and make it impossible to put back through or get out of tightly fitting holes. If you need to punch a stuck pin out, get a piece of similar sized steel round stock with a nice flat face and put that against your pin and then use your hammer or air hammer. Grind a chamfer on your pin ends to avoid flaring out the end to where they get stuck and help get them through the other side.

    Hey Phil, awesome video. The in field repair of the Cat impressive. The threaded rod with two lock nuts on either end a good short term fix. I would bet OEM Cat replacement pin assembly more expensive than a grade 8 socket head cap screw and lock nut. Plus easier to procure.

    You mentioned the desire for a more accessible line through that big ass new feature. If I had to toss in a vote, I'd love to see a wooden wall ride going across the left side of the gap. Make it as steep or shallow as you think it needs to be, but just be sure there is a portion at the bottom of the wall ride that is nearly flat. The bottom portion could be like a 1' flat (or arched, depending on willingness) bridge connecting the left side of the lip with the left side of the landing. A sizable wallride would be fun to play on for all skill levels and add the slow bail option if needed.

I understand that there's always the lack of material, but IMHO a tabletop on the landing is what should just address the issue for any riders who haven't build confidence yet on this particular line.

    • @SkillsWithPhil
      @SkillsWithPhil  3 роки тому

      I'd love to have one but I did not get one. Tom brought his 303 which has an engcon tilt rotator bucket. Mine is the 301.7 and doesn't have a tilt rotator coupler and bucket. I looked into them, but decided against for several reasons. 2) The thumb is more useful (to me) and you can't get the grabbers on any of the 1.5 ton tilt rotator couplers on the market. 2) They are quite heavy and on my small machine It'd be too tippy on a regular basis. 3) The price is not something i can justify. I'd rather buy a used skidsteer for the price that they sell for. That being said, i might get a tilt bucket, but most of the work ive been doing lately doesn't require it and I've been trying to learn work arounds with a standard setup.
