The 2004 ALCS was the first time I was invested myself in watching baseball in over a decade. I still don't know why but for some reason, I started watching game 4 in the 8th inning. I watched the rest of the Red Sox run. My grandma was 93 years old, from Middleboro, Massachusetts. She was 7 when the Red Sox last won the World series. She passed away 2 months later, I'm positive she waited for those boys to win the series before she crossed the rainbow bridge.
My grandfather had a similar fate. Born in 1920 and never saw the Sox win. We watched the games together, and I never saw a bigger smile on him than when they won. He died November 2004. I've always said he was waiting for them to win it. RIP
Yes Vic and I sat in the right FIELD roof box seats in 1966. For 5.50. the only roof box seats in those days. Bleachers were 1.25.patriots games were 2.00 in the bleachers. Side lines in front of the monster were .3.75. go to Patriots history here on utube see the pats playing in Fenway park.
The Greatest Red Sox Team !!! I still remember my dear friend calling me after the win, he said " ... well what do we have to live for now?" Amazing, my mom born in 1918, and the biggest Sox fan of all never missed a game saw it as well as one more in 2007, that team was especially made for fans like her.
Don't get me wrong... I love the Great Bambino. I love the lore surrounding his name. But I love the fact that David Ortiz was the one that finally said, "To hell with the lore, to hell with the curse... It's time to write my own page in the history books!" And he will always be my favorite for it!
Watching this in 2024 on the 20th anniversary so grateful for the interviews with Wake. He will always be loved and cherished by Red Sox nation. Rest in peace
I've been a Red Sox fan for over 40 years and this is my all-time favorite team. Not because they won a championship. This is a team of grit. Although I live in Houston, Texas now, but I know what it's like to be a Bostonian!!
Nor Bellhorn's home run off the stomach of a fan that was initially ruled to be still in play. Whoever put this video together wanted no credit of any kind to be given to Terry Francona for his contributions. Only Kevin Millar and Dave Roberts even mentioned his name.
I like to think The Curse broke on the Midnight stroke just before The Steal, and from that point on there was nothing holding them back anymore, allowing the 8 straight wins, as if this was what they were capable of without Ruth standing on their throats. It's too Goddamned perfect of a story.
04, &’ 18 hold a special place in my heart, Born in 01, my firat MLB game was this spectacular game and i became a fan ever since rooting alongside my yankee strong uncle. He passed Nov 5th, 2018, Our last game we watched was the Red Sox win. 🩵 I miss you old man …
There's a song on utube called midnight and the Stars and you.used in the movie the shining with jack Nicholson in 1980.go to Mr sandman's version here on utube it's the best sounding version I think. And start out in 1917 with flim of the babe and think how much the song blends in with the curse of the babe. the song just goes with it. From 1917 till 2004. With the Sox running out of the dugout and the bullpen.hope you folks think so. In fact in the 1997 Titanic movie I can see the first class passengers dancing to it.
How many times are we going to hear "Back to Foulke. Red Sox fans have longed to hear it: The Boston Red Sox are World Champions!" until we say "I HATE JOE BUCK!" I HATE JOE BUCK! I HATE JOE BUCK! I HATE JOE BUCK!
This tale didn’t tell the tale of ‘the wink’,Franconas message to Roberts to steal ..Roger Angell wrote a beautiful piece about it..great under-story for one the greatest times in baseball history..

Missed mentioning Schilling's ankle injury in Game 1 of the division series. And, uh, Bellhorn's home run? Or do you not want to acknowledge that it was Francona who was involved in getting the umpires together to discuss the missed call by the left-field ump?
This was the Falcon Effect BEFORE the Falcon Effect. Blowing a 28-3 lead in Super Bowl was terrible, but nothing like having a 3-0 lead. You have to survive four days in a row to remain alive & go to the World Serie. 2 days later, you have to win 4 games all over again & this time with a team you don't face very often if not ever in the season & even they had their own rise as well. Sorry Patriots fans, but the Red Sox wins this battle...barely.
what does that even mean bud...Do you live in a World of "what ifs", "well", "how about now" type crap. History is history, but are you still sore, have you not moved on yet?
Coming from the team that also waited a long time for a WS Ring 💍 & won that same year in 2021. I would be glad to say this to you Red Sox fans. Firrst & Foremost Chop Chop! 2021 World Series Champions/America's Team/Atlanta Braves. Second: 2004 was 4 Days In October (ALCS). 2018 was 4 Games In October (ALDS). 2021 was 1 Day in October. Thank you Red Sox for each one & literally making the Yankees your daddy know. WHO'S YO DADDY 😅😅😅😅😅 Third: Aside from getting my wish as an adult at long last, I wanted to face you instead of Bellichick's Side Team (ASStros). The reason wasn't only because of the cheating scandal, it was because one of my besties is actually a Red Sox fan & so we could either troll each other whoever wins or loses.
@@jethrojacinto2798 haven't been called that in like 20 years lol. This series should have been over in 5, and every Sox fans knows it. You were lucky Torre put it in your lap with his late game managing.
The 2004 World Series was almost over before it even started..The Red Sox were on a real roll after winning four in a row and making sports history..The Cardinals also came back in their LCS..However, I think the NLCS took a lot out of the Cardinals..The ALCS didn't make the Red Sox tired..The ALCS comeback made the Red Sox better ⁉⚾💺🏟🤔
*RIP Tim Wakefield. You are already deeply missed.*
😢 Yup, was my favorite pitcher and person the entire time he was there and beyond and he will be DEEPLY missed by so many.
About to cry! Love that dude! R.I.P.
Are there any knuckleball pitchers around today?
@@fishjj76 Yes, Matt Waldren of the Padres.

The 2004 season was so magical that I still get goosebumps thinking about the series.
One of the greatest moments in sports history!

amen this is gold
Orlando Cabrera was a huge pickup in this championship run
2007, 2013, 2018... No... The 2004 championship ... The best ...always!!!
Read my comment Franz. Like yours.
Those championships were great. But don’t hold a candle to the 2004 idiots. Not even close
I agree 100% & I'm a Braves fan.

As a New Englander I loved mullet Damon haha
Johnny Damon is going off! When he hit that 2nd HR in game 7, it was all over.
When he joined the Yankees he looked imperial all shaved and no mullet his Redsox version was much better
They didn't show the big humiliation for the NY Yankees when Alex Rodriguez was called out for slapping the ball from Bronson Arroyo's glove.
Arod likes to slap balls.

Jesus Christ. Bronson hasn't aged a day.

Can’t wait to see the team reflect back on the win in 2090, 86 years after the broke the 86 year curse.
You cant wait? I wouldnt hold your breath as you probably wont be alive in 2090

What is up with the long black screens
Produced for TV and that's where the commercials went. No idea why they didn't shorten them though
Full Blue Moon Eclipse that night..
Why is the video pausing with a black screen, every 3 minutes??
