They might talk shit at the bahhhh, but the respect that man got, that's legendary. That's respect. That's absolute love. And he is a great player, and a class act.
One thing I will truly say, I've been a Yankee fan for over 40 years, seen alot of greats, Goose, Guidry, Mattingly, Winfield, Nettles,, Niekro, Henderson, the list goes on!! But the greatest thing about sports, you need a rival, or villain, to make it worth watching. Magic had Larry, Wilt had Russell, Borg had McEnroe, etc. &, the Yankees have the Red Sox, as much as I love the Yanks, & will to my dying day, I tip my cap & give respect to the RedSox, & the beautiful Fenway Park, for this. Thank you Boston, beautiful city with amazing fans
Derek Jeter and Mariano Rivera... two Yankees who carried themselves with such class that even Red Sox fans had to admire them in the end. Rivera's smiling, hilarious tip of the cap to the mock cheers is still one of the coolest displays of good humor and class that I've ever seen.
Rivera was all class and a very good sport. Boston fans LOVED Rivera, he was all business and the most feared closer of all time but also, a real guy who could take a little ribbing and be confident enough to laugh and smile. Respect to Jeter and Rivera, thank you NYY for honoring Ortiz at Yankee Stadium we appreciate that and always will
Mo lived in my building in NYC and met him in the elevator. Have to say it was the only time I have been star struck. Had my Sox hat and he joked with me about it. Told him I use to love see him come into games at Fenway and cough up a lead. He laughed and I told him he was genuinely one of my favorite players I have ever watched. I think much like Yankees fans there is mutual respect for great players even if they play for the rival. I booed jeter and Mo for 20 years out of respect not hate. Long live the greatest rivalry in sports.

Damn, Boston REALLY stood up for Derek.. much respect. My first visit to Fenway was May 1st, 2016 for the ESPN Sunday night game with my wife. I bled Yankee blue that night in the grandstands behind home plate but the Sox fans couldn't have been more gracious. They gave us a hard time but it was all in good fun. Can't wait to visit Boston again.
As a Detroit fan, I always had deep admiration for Derek Jeter along with Mariano Rivera, Don MattinglyBernie Williams etc. I always knew that Bosox fans are knowledgeable and passionate. Jealous of both teams’ fans. This was sooo uplifting a sports moment. A teachable moment for young people. Do it the right way and be based on respect. That Jeter did. The one thing I am proud of the history of the Tigers through their history is that they always played tough against NY and BOS
Bobby Orr was my favorite Hockey Player growing up, I'm blown away by him taking time to Honor Derek Jeter. Number 4 of the Boston Bruins honors Number 2 of The New York Yankees.
I'm an Oakland A's fan; gotta give this man (Derek Jeter) respect because he has earned it. I have his batting practice jersey. #2 #captain #HallOfFame
I love the respect that Derek Jeter got from all fans, especially, of course, from the red sox. Much respect to them, even though I'm a die hard Yankees fan. Bravo boston.
Longtime Yankee fan here, but I love the city of Boston, Fenway Park, Sox history, and the great past players who were there: Yaz, Jim Rice, Fred Lynn, Tiant, etc. Boston, you’re a class act to honor a competing player this way, and a YANKEE no less! Thank you to the Sox organization and Sox fans for putting the rivalry aside and truly showing RE2PECT.

Watching BIG PAPI walk out to Jeeter reminded me of how close we came to losing him, when you look at the young men of baseball that we've lost it's sad being a Floridian I felt the loss of our #16 Jose F RIP CHAMP

The Greatest tribute of all. I'm a Yankee fan since birth but I will admit Boston did an incredible job, thank you! Damn, to see the Green Monster, then Yaz showing up. Wow. Then Bobby Orr??? The Celtics? Omg, what a ceremony...Love that Derek stayed the whole time next Yaz... They even played "Mr. Blue Sky" by ELO!!!

Red Sox fan but I LOVED DJ.Class all the way through, always hustled, was a team player and always exemplified good sportsmanship.I would proudly wear his jersey.
Probably said this way down below. Yankees fan since a little boy in the 60's. And a Yaz fan just as long. The fact that Yaz was out there so quickly...man, says a whole lot about both of them! Terrific!
As a Red Sox fan I can say this needed to happen and everything that the PA announcer said is 100% facts. Derek Jeter played the game the right way and damn was he a competitor in this rivalry.
Big Yankees fan here, but I really, really, really miss the early to mid 00’s when that Yankees & Red Sox battled it out. That chapter closing hit home when Jeter retired. So many good memories watching the games and especially in 2004. My heart hasn’t been right ever since. This is still the classiest send off I’ve ever seen. Although these two teams will always be rivals on the field, here’s to wishing a lifetime of health and happiness to all the Red Sox fans and friends! 🍻
The thing about baseball is that its always on. Long games. All summer. From Colorado, I used to go to Long Island to see my relatives in the summers for a month to a month and a half and got to see the 90s dynasty form. A million cousins my age. Grannie had a a pool so wed play whiffle ball and swim, and go to the movies, and on a special occasion...hit a yankee game...when the grainy 90s tv and the sounds of John sterling and Michael kay on the radio became reality. Jeter was a rookie my last year of elementary school. During his career, I would go through middle school, high school, screw up in college, become an apprentice, and later a journeyman electrician and go onto do pretty well for myself. And like the frog in boiling water, you dont realize the clock is ticking. Through every up and down in my life...there was Jeter playing shortstop. A dependable solid who was always there....until he wasn't.
I was at that game. It's hard to believe it was almost 10 years ago. I found it fitting that the last foul ball Jeter hit in his last at bat was caught by a man in a Yankees shirt down the first base line. I was also on the first base side but back under the roof in the grandstand seats where this guy was down front in box seats.
Few in baseball will have the class and the playing ability as Derek Jeter. When the other ballpark gives you a standing ovation, you have made the game better for all. God bless you, Mr. Yankee. Tells you alot about the Red Sox organization, too.
Yaz will always be my favorite Red Sox of all time. It was nice seeing Rico out there that day to honor his fellow short stop. I love these moments when Boston goes out of its way to honor greats from opposing teams. I was there when Ripken was celebrated. Fenway is such a special stadium. It's been stated more than a few times, particularly by teammates of the honorees, they sit through these ceremonies in every city but Fenway is different.
As a NYC sports fan, I always wanted the Big Apple teams to take care of business against the New England teams but after seeing this, the Red Sox and the City of Boston (I could never knock what a great city it really is), showed class, professionalism and great sportsmanship during that day!
Watched this again after a few years. Yes, the Red Sox are our rivals and we root hard against them. But, the Red Sox and the fans are nothing short of pure class!
Love coming back to stuff from this era. I'm a Yankee fan and have hated the Sox since I could understand the concept of hate. This was first class. One thing I've always admired about the Red Sox is their commitment to honoring and holding on to their past. So many breaks have renamed their stadium with the highest bidder. But the Yankees and Red Sox have never budged. Love it.
I was lucky enough growing up in Northern, NJ to see some of the best and kindest athletes make a difference. People like Tom Seaver, Adam Graves, Gary Carter, John Starks, Clark Gillies, Joe Klecko etc....Derek Jeter is right up there with all of those heroes.
As a life long Red Sox fan in my 60's I hated him because he was so good and at the same time always respected him for not only his ability but for the class he always displayed. Wish I had seen this earlier than today.
It's all good. Life long Yankee fan here. I've always had Boston players I respected. Like Jim Rice, Luis Tiant. Dustin Pedroia (butchered his name sorry), Tim Wakefield are a few.
Jesus I got emotional this was something and I'm not even a Yankee fan. Jeter just does everything Right, and he's a Class Act too and Smooth what more can you say.
what class the Red Sox showed by doing this for the Captain of their most hated rivals. This is how it should be done, have so much respect for the Red Sox because of this. Awesome and way to go Boston. (lifelong Reds fan, sorry for the '75 Series but the Big Red Machine was due after 1970 and 72)
Jeter was one of the most talented ballplayers ever. It's great thet the Bosox honored him. Jeter and the Yankees have such class. This event proved that the Red Six do too. God bless you, Boston. Go Yankees!
Boston fans are always willing to recognize greatness... in the end, but usually not while the guy is beating us. I was at Reggie Jackson's last game and for about 2 hours different individuals jumped the wall, ran out to shake Reggie's hand and the were hauled off by security. Watching all those before them getting arrested did not deter those who came after. Boston loves legends. Jeter is one of the finest MLB players I have ever seen and was a class act his entire career

Best rivalry ever in any sport. Best fans. Hate for the enemy but respect to each other.
Bobby Orr…,changed the game of Hockey…Jeter is another legend …we love him here in New York…
Bobby Orr was my favorite Hockey Player growing up, I'm blown away by him taking time to Honor Derek Jeter. Number 4 of the Boston Bruins honors Number 2 of The New York Yankees.
I am just happy that I have lived to witness Jeter win all those championships(5). There will never be another sportsman like Derek Jeter#2for life.
Derek Jeter is one of my favorite NY Yankees!! He is a classact! Had a great career & in Baseball's Hall of Fame.Love Ya!
This was the best! Biggest rivalry in sports. The Sox let us all know that it's way more than us vs them. Great job Boston.
The Yankees returned the favor in honoring David Ortiz
Real Madrid vs Barcelona in soccer and India vs Pakistan in cricket are both better than Red Sox vs the Yankees
I'm an Oakland A's fan; gotta give this man (Derek Jeter) respect because he has earned it. I have his batting practice jersey. #2 #captain #HallOfFame
Coming from a Rangers fan, I've never liked Boston, but this was quite impressive. Bravo Boston! Great way to show respect to a YANKEE!
Lifelong Sox fan here...like since the 70's when they almost but never won. I hated the Yankees. All of them. Had a tiny bit of okayness for Thurman Munson but until Jeter, that's it. Never hated him, he was as good and classy as you'd ever want anyone to be. Class act.
Arguably the greatest villain of my childhood. Thank you for the memories, Jeter.
Claude Lemieux: Am I a joke to you?
@@89grandizer that will never happen.lol
Watching BIG PAPI walk out to Jeeter reminded me of how close we came to losing him, when you look at the young men of baseball that we've lost it's sad being a Floridian I felt the loss of our #16 Jose F RIP CHAMP
VERY classy send off. As a long time Yankees fan, deep respect for the BOSOX for this great tribute. I lived in Boston for 4 years of college and saw the true Boston heart. Caught a game in Fenway. Great sports town!!! Great heart. Well displayed here. Thank you all for this memory!!!
You can see how humble Jeter is in the presence of some of the all time greats, even though he is part of that group!
Remember when Joe Torre came back from his battle with cancer? All the fans in Fenway got up and cheered for him and he said he almost cried. We all loved Joe
Red Sox fan but I LOVED DJ.Class all the way through, always hustled, was a team player and always exemplified good sportsmanship.I would proudly wear his jersey.
Yankees fan here...
and I would proudly wear Yaz's.
Love that guy!
As a Yankees fan I could never look at the Red Sox again like I used to! My respect Boston my respect 1
I am a Yankee fan, and a HUGE Jeter fan, but watching the 'rivalry' against these two awesome teams was always my favorite games !!
Being a Red Sox fan all my life. Derek Jeter is such a very great player he is a class act
Por eso Boston es maravillosa y tiene grandes equipos deportivos, cuanto respeto
Boston did an incredible farewell….full of class ,
13:25 loved it when Pete Frates made his appearance and when Jeter went up to greet him that was so touching. RIP Frate train 🚂❤️❤️
I’m from New York, but this was beautiful. Can’t have more respect for the Red Sox for this.
As a Yankees fan, this is why I love sports man. Beautiful gesture by the city of Boston, the Red Sox organization, and their fans.
I am now just seeing this. Way to go Red Sox! Derek was and is a icon!
Such an outstanding show of amazing, first class hospitality by Boston. Beautiful job by the Red Sox!
As a long time Yankees fan, WELL DONE BOSTON! RE2PECT!
Great player thank you for the game coming from Hawaii 👍🤙🤙
True gentleman, and one of the best ball players in the history of the game. Boston showing there true colors as a great great sports city.
Im a lifelong NYM fan, and i wish Jeter could play forever!!
What a send off. Yaz and Bobby Orr. Great.
Few in baseball will have the class and the playing ability as Derek Jeter. When the other ballpark gives you a standing ovation, you have made the game better for all. God bless you, Mr. Yankee. Tells you alot about the Red Sox organization, too.
Astounding, really. Just shows what an ambassador he really is for baseball.
When you are so good..even your haters respect you.
This is amazing and very moving. Thank you for posting this.
Jeter was always a fear in my heart. Glad he doesn't bat against us anymore.
God Bless Jeter
Love coming back to stuff from this era. I'm a Yankee fan and have hated the Sox since I could understand the concept of hate.
This was first class. One thing I've always admired about the Red Sox is their commitment to honoring and holding on to their past. So many breaks have renamed their stadium with the highest bidder. But the Yankees and Red Sox have never budged. Love it.
Derek Jeter is MLB
WE ALL LOVE HIM
Die Hard Cubs and Red Sox fan here, but Jeter always had my 100% respect
(lifelong Reds fan, sorry for the '75 Series but the Big Red Machine was due after 1970 and 72)
This has to be the classiest tribute ive ever seen an opposing player recieve
U can hate someone for beating your team but when they do it the right way u respect and appreciate greatness 🙏🙏💯💯💯
Jeter was one of the most talented ballplayers ever. It's great thet the Bosox honored him. Jeter and the Yankees have such class. This event proved that the Red Six do too. God bless you, Boston. Go Yankees!
This is called madddd respect i thin this tribute is better than he got in new york
Ive heard that too
This has class written all over it respect to Red Sox and Fenway
He carried himself with grace and dignity on AND off the field. A great role model.
And so was Mariano Rivera.
In the sport of football Peyton Manning. Basketball Magic Johnson. Boston honored Magic Johnson during Larry Bird's retirement in a way.I don't remember seeing anything about Peyton Manning at Gillette.lol
