At first i really thought these modulations thingy are just gonna be useless and wouldnt make that big of a difference, but when u turn them on/off its like night and day... and im only hearing it through my phone. This could add so much more details when producing/mixing. I love this plugin. Thank you very much
I was looking if Shade has auto-gain but instead found this. One of the best videos I've seen on this channel. And I'm one of the "even mop yourself" guys😅
Killer plugin. It has been in my Toolbox for quite sometime. In fact, UVI Plugins in general are sensational and phenomenal, with UI's that is easy to digest almost immediately if you never seen them before, and the sound and characteristics ranges from clean to distortion. Morph is similar, yet I like Shade better overall. I have used both in Productions simultaneously. Great tutorial. In fact, it's one of the best I have seen so far.
Fantastic video; thanks very much! Showing how it's used in a real track, channel after channel, is very, very useful for us. I even leaned a couple things not related to shade. Just excellent. Also, in bitwig studio, much of what you're doing is trivial, but a lot of it isn't. I can do everything you show, but it would require splitting the stereo signal, applying two filters, and on and on. Shade makes everything very intuitive and with few steps. This looks like a great tool. Thanks.
Jesus...I swore the Molot was going to be my last buy until Black Friday, but I'm demoing this now and it really breathes life into almost any plain synth.

Excellent. I am in need of an EQ. I really liked this demo. It was super helpful and I am going to purchase it. 1/2 price of fabfilter. I currently use Ozone EQ but it seems to be pretty heavy on CPU
Hey Dave could you tell us what set of plugin do you actually use on a day to day basis... What I mean is you show us a new plugin almost every day, and they are usually shown as the latest and greatest. On the other hand we all know it is best to get to know our plugins well to be able to get the most out of them. So my question is do you jump from one to another new plugin, or do you have a set of your go to, and only add a new one if it is really worthy cluttering up the plugin list or replacing something you already have?
I don't think I show a new plugin every day, altho' it's in the channel intro, "gear and plugins reviews" so.. and let alone I present things as "the greatest", the latest? Yes, that's why we (all) do reviews, cause it's new. I put out more solid content than most, and say not to 70% of the plugins I'm asked to review from companies. So what you see me featuring on the channel is 80% what I use. If you want to see what I use the most or more often in actual mixes for clients (which change often since I mix from industrial to reggae and everything in between) there are many "mix breakdown" there are full course here on the channel and on promix academy, I don't really keep track of what I use other than the SSLG is on every channel, ProQ3, all the UVI effects, many Waves like API bundle, Kramer, Rvox and Comp, H Series, lots of Softube stuff, Weiss, Chandler (all of them), lots of soundtoys (both saturator and effects) Tone Empire all of them, Denise Audio verbs, TC Effects, Izotope, Tokyo Dawn Labs, Sonnox.. I use a lot, cause I mix and master a lot, that' my job, not youtube, and I also have many. With UVI, we go way back I made presets for all their verbs and delays, I do use the stuff
@@mixbustv Thanks for he long answer Dave! Don't get me wrong, I wasn't pointing any fingers at you for anything, I love your content. I was genuinely interested, that is why I asked this. Keep it up!
is there an easy to automate the parameters of shade in pro tools? for example, in fabfilter you can control/option/command click to enable eh automation lane but not in Shade. It looks very complicated to automate each parameter in pro tools .It does sound amazing though. And I love your video, so cool how you used it on all aspects of this mix. Thanks!
I can’t remember the name (maybe something like smartEQ) but I have an EQ that does this already. But doesn’t seem as well modulated or fleshed out as this, plus this shade UI I like a lot! Probs gunna buy :)
Pro Q3 is solid, for certain, and has been a go to "bread & butter" EQ for years, but I'd say it has been surpassed by multiple other options now... specifically: - SSL Native X-EQ 2 (insane clarity and lack of artifacting even when doing extreme cuts/boosts) - Soundtheory Gulfoss (especially useful for quickly correcting problem areas) - UVI Shade (it's as much an effect as an EQ, of course) Now, to be fair, Gulfoss and Shade are arguably not in the same category as Pro Q3, as they do much more and do it differently, but you get my point. :)
How close is this UA-cam video and sound setup to a natural live recording So everything I'm hearing as if I sitting right next to you while you're demonstration the vst. No snd tracks post production done before upload? Man do I still miss soundsoap updates - there's no more update, right? 😩 😷
When a simple Idea is implemented and you think.... Why hasnt this been done before??? Sure, for other effects like Gatekeeper, Stutter, Glitch,....ect.. .But am I Imagining no one has done this before? Plus it sounds good.. off for the demo me thinks..

bought shade like 2 months ago, such an awesome tool. highly recommended and it is a pro q 3 alternative on roids at a cheaper price.
It's so good for sound design you can forget it's a very powerful mix eq. Lots of good info here.
So well explained David ... thank you ... Shade is incredible still learning to be in flow with it ... all the best to you

So it's like you would have an automatic filter with modulation. Really cool!
Game Changer!!!

Are there differences between Shade and Pro eq in regard to certain capabilities? Grazie.
Hi Dave. Can I use function midi learn on knobs in Shade?? Very need it. :)

these eq's are getting crazy, consider sound design with them. Kirchhoff eq too.

Since I have it, it is the only eq that I use. It is so versatile that it almost hurts🤪

Powerful EQ. I wonder if FabFilter will add modulators and similar features to Pro-Q4. The bass and drums remind me of Personal Jesus by Depeche Mode.

All of iZotope's products are extreme CPU hogs. Hope they fix this in the future...
Not bad. Interesting plugin, i like the frequency animations. Definetly great in raw Production for sound design, mixing as well. Powerful 🔥
