Honestly its so impressive that nicholas took home second on his first time making top cut. I hope he isnt discouraged by this and id love to see him make worlds.
Surely he’s more fired up as a result. Your first day 2 being finals of the biggest tournament of all time where you take home $4000, I’d be absolutely hyped at how well I did.
Also going up against Wolfe and presumably getting more press attention because of his large UA-cam following could help spring Nicholas into the public eye.
Not impressive. Cheating will do that
@@Verlisifydude how did he cheat? It’s so easy to make competitive pokemon now, just be quiet. You’re a hater.
@@VerlisifyI was about to ask how he cheated, then I read your channel name. Begone clown.
A lot of respect to nick even tho im rooting for wolfe, nick played really well in the tournament
tbf all of Nick’s 3 loses this tournament were against Wolfey
Did nicholas play well tho? Game 1 why didn't ursaluna protect when farigaraf trick roomed???
@@DelightfulWalrushe was probably reading into Wolfe targetting Farigiraf with Ogrepon, since Wolfe knows Farigiraf can’t protect while Ursaluna can. If he protects with Ursaluna, Wolfe just gets a free OHKO on Farigiraf while Nick accomplishes nothing that turn, which is what he was afraid of. That situation would have been even worse for Nick, since that still lets Ogrepon get the OHKO on Ursaluna next turn, and he’s down an extra Farigiraf.
Wolfe’s Ogrepon is faster than both Nick’s Ogrepon and Urshifu, so if Wolfe takes out Farigiraf while Ursaluna protects, there’s nothing he can do to stop Ogrepon from picking up another free kill next turn.
Absolutely fire gameplay from a first timer going up against THE VGC master himself. Taking a game from wolfey and being so close to a win, thats a thing we should respect. Hope to see him around more often
You have watched another match. He made some very bad choices.
THAT'S WHY HE'S THE GOAT
You haven't even watched the video yet 😭
For context btw this comment was made a minute after the video was posted 💀
We watched it live, and even if we didnt, its wolfey. Do you really think he's gonna lose with the world-champ difference?
@@pieterhofkens7259 Oh shit it was live? I didn't know that 💀
Kinda stupid of me ngl.
He's also a cheater
Wolfe playing hard-meta is like shrugging off the weighted clothing. Also, a sign of just how overpowered certain pokemon are, since he normally tries some really creative strategies to get around the meta.
Incineroar isn't really meta anymore. So technically he's 1 pokemon rogue meta. But still true, the rest of his squad is straight op meta.
@@madhatten00 second most used pokemon IS definitely meta. just a wrong statement
how the hell is incineroar not meta@@madhatten00
@@madhatten00incineroar IS the meta dude. He’s the second most used mon!!
He probably stopped with the creative strategy so he doesn't need to worry about his team getting leaked again.
Seeing Nicholas at the beginning being a goofy dork at the cameras while Wolfe was looking all serious at his notes and the screen was just so funny to me
just goes to show the difference of the mentality of winners vs the mentality of others
@@AUG_Glow you're aware the guy had to win like 13 times just to get to finals, right?
@@Lakanus you’re aware he lost the finals right?
@@AUG_Glow So how did Nick outperform over 800 other players with a loser mentality? Did they all have loser mentalities too?
@@Lakanus you answered your own question
Is that Aaron "Cybertron" Zang here, providing live commentary as he goes ?
Yeah 💪
@@maganhassan2627wasn’t he caught with hacked pokemon recently? Lol
@@lino3974 Aaron? Never heard about him regarding that issue before 🤷♂️
@lino3974 ive never heard of anyone, let alone Aaron, using hacked pokemon in an official VGC competition
Edit: my point was that people who use pokemon not obtained through official means are using genned pokemon not hacked.
@@lino3974 lmao "hacked" 90% of all competitive players use "hacked" mons. Cuz Nintendo is a real bad company when faciliting Pokemon battling
can't wait for his video explaining this team especially with how much hatred he has toward incineroar and maybe urshifu
Incineroar isn't meta so he went k I'm using this Boi now.
2nd most used pokemon behind fluttermane, what are you even talking about not being meta?
he stated that the video about this tourtnament will come out until April lol
This felt really inspirational to me. The most successful player in VGC vs an upcoming player where both of them pushed each other to their limits every single round they played each other. Absolutely brilliant by both players. Can’t wait to see Nick grow over the next years and can’t wait to see Wolfe continue on his path of greatness.
Also: 2024 IS THE YEAR OF THE WOLFE BAYBEEEEE
Its the world champ difference babyyyy
The strongest player of today VS The strongest player of history
As long as none of his friends are getting married.
Lmao he’s not the most successful player. Not even close.
@@kinglouie313 I believe he means in terms of influence.
I believe the technical term here is “world champ difference”
Real Youtubists go to the finals!
real youtubists win the biggest tournament of all time twice
He was world champion before he started UA-cam.
@@John-yh3je I'm pretty sure he created the channel before he won worlds.
real youtubists win tournoments after 4 month breaks
This youtubist has a finals for you
fantastically played on both ends, as goated as wolfey is I do genuinely look forward to seeing nick win a regional sometime soon :)
MY KING WOLFE GLICK CAN'T BE STOPPED HE'S TRULY HIM
what is it with you people and yelling
@@zonkedmcbro can hear it through the screen

@@zonkedmc You people? 🤨
He cheats
@@unluckyman0087 somebody's mad 🤣🫵
Imagine getting beat twice by Wolfe in Swiss and then getting him again in the championship…
“Oh boy. Here I go getting Wolfeed again!”
In that case he technically only lost to 1 player all tournament, didnt he?
Thats already impressive all by itself.
Yeah he seems like a great player but people like wolfy are on a whole nother league
it shouldn't matter who you face. If you're competing and want to get first you have to be the best out of everyone that you play against
@@jaimeramos9497While I agree, Wolfe is still the most decorated VGC player ever. And I think this is Nick’s first regional
YOU CANT STOP HIM YOU CAN ONLY HOPE TO CONTAIN HIM
Nicks run to finals is nothing short of amazing. Great battles
This is the most hype set of vgc Ive ever watched. You can hate on scarlet and violet all you want, but these games and especially terastalization are so amazing to watch and play competetively.
Yeah I hate the single player experiences of gen 8 and 9 but game freak did step up the competitive balance imo, tera forms are so much more interesting and nuanced than megas, z-moves, or dynamax
@@codetaku if 75% of the teams both finalists used is the same then competitive isn't balanced its boring. A balanced game wouldn't have 3 staple pokemon which everyone has to use. Agree on teraform though. Its a very interesting gimmick for competitive.
this set is no better than the time every team had to run Kyogre groudon and rayquaza
@@codetaku You think that gamefreak stepped up the competitive balance?? In the gen that they introduced flutter mane and gave incin parting shot? This gen is probable the most unbalanced gen, for both smogon singles and vgc doubles, even more than gen 5. Gen 8 also literally had urshifu, the mon that breaks VGC in any tier that it is allowed.
@@politoed06 incin already had parting shot in SwSh.
Wolfe had some sort of difference that really pushed him ahead here
WORLD CHAMP DIFFERENCE
Wolfey’s so well known for his unorthodox teams, no one expected him to roll up with a bunch of overused mons
Bro wanted to prove that he can with none gimmick teams
Wolfe brings a surprise every tournament. This time the surprise was a meta team XDD
Farigiraf isn't
With Pokemon now being pushed as a major esport I don’t understand why the games don’t have a “spectate” mode
Apparently it kinda does??? They had it in worlds finals 2023 which only makes it more baffling
pokemon is not an esport, it's horribly unbalanced, it took a 3rd party organisation to somewhat balance their game and still things like para and freeze remain
@@lukijezExactly, pretty sure sword and shield in 2022 had a spectate mode too. Just doesn’t make any sense
@@ultimateblaze23Yeah by definition Pokémon is not an esport because there is luck involved.
@@tobymacdonald5893famously no esport has rng based crit or miss mechanics.
And none are cardgames either which has inherent rng.
Wolfe heard people saying Incineroar fell off, so he said “hold my Intimidate” and came back from his break and won the biggest tournament ever with it, just to teach people for talking smack about Incineroar.
he has love and hate relationship with Incineroar
Urshifu-Rapid Strike, too. It saw little play in Day 2 because everyone brought hard counters for it in Day 1. But the winner of the entire thing still used it.
now this was a final, one different play and the outcomes would swing, i was very dissapointed at the worlds final, but finals like this are what we love to see
They both played SO WELL 😮
Why are there no captions? I can expect that from a small channel but this is supposed to be a channel managed by a professional company.
Pokemon is a small indie company they can't add captions to the most important match of one of the biggest tournaments of all time that's way to hard for there small indie team
Wow, what an absolute blast that final was. Mad props to Nicholas for such an amazing game!
Hype!! The Team Star Grunt theme really added to the suspense!! 👏 👏 👏
You're totally right. God, they went in so hard on the music for S/V!
The falling over and checking the time as a reflex is such a mood
Genuinely the best and most intense competitive set I’ve ever seen, huge huge kudos for Nick, keeping Wolfe on his toes despite never even making a day 2 before. Cannot wait to see where he goes
This was an awesome match. Shoutout Nicholas for an awesome match in his first finals. But if you come at the King you best not miss! Wow Wolfe is so good
Congrats to Wolfe for another win, and congrats to Nick for an amazing first Day 2 performance! Looking forward to seeing more from both of them :D
Both players deserved the dub. I’m so excited to see nick win some regionals in the future
Congratulations to both player Nicholas did an amazing run for being a relatively new player.
Wolfe is a fan favorite doing well.
I hope, i hope, i HOPE.. Wolfe and Nicholas battle again in the 2024 World's Masters Final's, for 1 more big battle!!
I cant believe Nick clutched game 2 after that crit, sinply incredible.
This is the first match of championship I watch and this is insane🔥
to those saying he's a cheat, I'd like to see 1 mon that you could not legitimately get with enough luck and time that he used apart from strictly aesthetic things like shiny or the ball it's in
only thing he's guilty of is not spending literally days if not weeks getting each mon he wants to try, the man has a life outside of pokemon
Getting Pokémon ready in Scarlet/Violet is also the easiest shit to do.
the part that people don’t realize is that he gets other people to help him get the pokemon
Also considering you can now get every one of the pokemon he has on his team in S/V alone since Urshifu was made available to catch in the indigo disk
Don’t even acknowledge the claims, it’s a joke.
@@jareddavulture58 fax
My boy is not only handsome, but also the KING of Pokemon
You’re right incineroar is a good looking dude
THE GOAT IS BACK BABY!! This is gonna be the biggest year for pokemon TCG and VGC ever
Always loved Wolfe’s personality. Great games gentlemen. No matter the outcome be yourself and pursue your dreams 🌻🤙🏾
so funny wolf does all this calculating in the start of every match & his opponent is always just sitting there like " look at this nerd just play the fucking game " lmao
I think it is extremly impressiv how consistent wolfe is he is the best team builder ever and always within the top 10 of the world even at his worst.
If you don't like this, you don't like Pokémon. Absolutely sensational battles. I was SCREAMING switch out the Blood Moon in that final battle 😭 There's no way I'd leave him in there, way too risky. Tremendous effort from both players, but in the end, the 🐐 came home with gold 🥇 Maybe one day you'll see me on that stage 🤔
Best of luck then
@@marklawoi7981 Appreciate it!

Love that Wolfe won but shout-out Nick for coming back from that early crit in the second game and otherwise giving him a run for his money. Really impressive play!!
Some of the plays were mind boggling and anxiety inducing!

@@Philosopheraptor Oh geez, let him have his fun. Just because this is competitive doesn't mean he has to be stone-cold.
Wonderfully played on both sides, I’d love to see nick in worlds sometime soon
This was an incredible set, one of the best I've even seen on stream.
the way the battle music started popping off when incineroar was charging up flare blitz was so hype lowkey
Been hoping this would be covered! Way to go!
props to the announcers, some of the best i've heard, and most engaging
Why does it not surprise me that Verlis & his wolf pack are here.
Nicholas played the second round beautifully and what a showing in front of a seasoned player like Wolfe
Really fun set to watch! Although, as much as I enjoy both of the commentators regularly for their insight, I had to put this on mute by the third game as yelling the entire set was driving me a bit batty. Totally get that it was very exciting to be there in person I'm sure though.
Can't wait for Wolfe's vid of this tournament to come out.
Gosh, seeing this battle live was just so amazing. The constant back and forth between both players, the insane ranges between both and barely hanging on, and ultimately seeing the world champ difference kick in at the last moment was just so cool. The fact this was Nicholas’ first time making top cut shows how much potential he has in this game.
SUPER EFFECTIVE!!!!
goated commentary
Aaron commentating Wolfe's matches, just phenomenal! Great match to both and congratulations to Wolfe.
Wolfe has some serious Final Boss Vibes.
Nick was so close! Such a great player

Gotta love how much Wolfe hates Incineroar but still uses it 🤣
What a beautiful match all around 🎉
This music goes so hard
Cool to see Iron hands. I was sad to see it practically disappear these rounds.
The wcd is crazy
nice strong start for wolfe playing solid strong mons, i hope his season is good
WORLD CHAMP DIFF, THEY COULDN'T HANDLE THE WOLFE STYLE
Before the game even starts Wolfe just looks so much more locked in and had it in the bag
Great to see a good VGC battle without Amoongus.
Amoongus is been falling off lately the little mushroom might need a retirement.
Nicholas has a good future ahead of him. Taking home 2nd in your first Final Cut appearance is very promising.
Wolfe is like the Mango of pokemon, ya just love to see him win
The castors make this kinda hype good stuff
the last match was close to tipping in either player's favour, with Nick unexpectedly using Bloodmoon to KO Orgepon and then Wolfe being able to predict that would Nick keep Ursula in.
At this point he's the Magnus Carlsen of VGC, it's amazing how good he is, the GOAT
I would have bet on Protect by Ursaluna in the last game. That's why he's a champ.
He attacked with an urshifu, even if ursaluna protected, It wouldn't have mattered
@@alessandro1885 Yeah, I keep forgetting this kind of stuff. That was my point.
Honestly everybody's ready to see Wolfe take home the big W

It's a frigiraf meta 😂 wolfie using incenaroar? I thought he despises it 👀 congrats winning dude though. I love the commentary there 😂

This is the worst set up I’ve ever seen. Two of the worst game chairs and the smallest screens. Might as well have these guys playing on game boys. Stop cheaping out and put some money into the set up. Have an epic set up with flat screens cool colors and nice stage lighting. This is an epic legendary matchup.
