    That single 1/4oz “keel” tip was solid. Thanks Zona!

    I would just like to say THANK YOU for some really great tips on how to use an A rig and some really GREAT tips on modifying the swimbaits & ofcourse how to get better action by the speed of retrieving your rig . I just purchased my first A rig and ive learned sooo much that I'm sure that I'll catch some TROPHY FISH.

    I like the Arig 1 hook 3 hooks or 23 hooks I love'em. Z sold me on the Strike King Titanium rig and I RARELY use any thing else. It's action is insane.

    Great video Mark. I will be trying your tips on keel weighting and pulsing on my next fishing trip - maybe that will help on large mouth also.

    No Sales pitch! I like that, some like it, some dont it's a choice thing .
    I personally never have used one but was in question?
    So i looked and wondered & you dont have to have a A $1200 set up to use it!
    & I prefer Mono over Braided// just my preference nothing against braided.
    but i am going to buy me a umbrella or two. & try a couple diff ways thanks to the show & folk's that leave their own opinion it's helped me to catch more & learned a bit more / & you're never too old to learn!

    Save yourself the time and effort modifying inadequate swim baits and just use Keitech fat impacts! Far superior action...i use them exclusively on a-rigs with great success.

    Two questions about fishing A-Rig; Can you fish it on straight braid? Do you use a snap and swivel to attach the rig to your line to prevent line twist? Thanks

    How do you tell the Keel or is it just one of the outside rigs you add the 1/4 oz to

    I hate to be the novice of the group here but what is the keel? Is that the back bait? So, 1/8oz on the 4 but 1/4oz on the back?

    I've read a lot of reviews about arms breaking off the Titanium rig. Is this true of all umbrella rigs?

    • @Wired2Fish
      @Wired2Fish  6 років тому

      It is common enough for wire arms to break after repeated re-bending coupled with a lot of use. Not sure on the titanium rig though.

    Great video, I live here in Indiana and we are only allowed to use three hooks so which three arms do I use to get it to run right?

    Great video. Would just twitching the rod tip vs the quick reel down get the pulse/flex effect were looking for?

    • @Wired2Fish
      @Wired2Fish  6 років тому

      Absolutely, just personal preference really. Some guys like maintaining the rod at a specific angle for bite detection and setting the hook. Using the reel to work the lure is a way to achieve this.

    This os the only A rig i throw but i have an issue with the wires tangling. Is this all on how i'm casting it and how can i prevent this issue

    • @Wired2Fish
      @Wired2Fish  7 років тому +1

      Hi Ryan, a lob cast really helps minimize A-Rig fowling. We recommend bringing your rod tip over your shoulder and in position for forward momentum rather than a snap back then forward cast. Start from this over shoulder position, then launch the bait with a sweeping rod and body forward motion. A video of this would be more helpful of course! You might be able to see lob casting a little clearer in this video: ua-cam.com/video/B40Y4-Lub1w/v-deo.html

    what does he mean by keel weighting it with a 1/4 oz when he already using the 1/8 oz squadron heads?

    • @Wired2Fish
      @Wired2Fish  8 років тому +4

      +537VIK Mark rigs one of the outside arms with the heavier 1/4 oz jig head so that it sinks to the bottom of the rig and literally functions as a keel during the retrieve. The lighter 1/8 oz heads ride higher on the retrieve. This "keel" weighting prevents spinout of the rig and also busting the surface.

    • @Wired2Fish
      @Wired2Fish  8 років тому

      +Tony Weimer Hi Tony, interesting question. We smoke walleye on single swimbaits over grass beds up north, so assuming they're legal, we suspect they'd produce big walleye at the right time. Thanks for the content idea, and let us know how you do if you give it a try.

    They're nice if your state allows more then 3 hooks in the water per person. PA doesn't, so I don't really see the point to have an A-rig personally.

    What is a keel weight? Might be a dumb question haha.

    • @Wired2Fish
      @Wired2Fish  8 років тому

      +Chris Thigpen No dumb questions when it comes to fishing or rigging. He uses a 1/8 oz jig head on all arms except one. He rigs a 1/4 oz head on the 5th arm, so this heavier jig runs the deepest on the rig and stabilizes the whole setup, prevents spinning out, and breaking the water surface.

    • @thigpen11
      @thigpen11 8 років тому

      +Wired2Fish Oooh ok. By fifth arm are you referring to the middle one?

    • @Wired2Fish
      @Wired2Fish  8 років тому

      +Chris Thigpen For this video, he keel weights one of the outside arms so that it's deepest in the water column literally functioning as a keel. It's pretty common then to mark the middle one to make the target (also set back a little further).

    The Alabama rig is too much like trolling. They don't allow trolling in Bass tournaments.
