I have seen over 30 vids on this rig and yours is one of the best. Great info. Thanks. Can't wait to get out there and start catching fish on this rig.
Thank you. I try to give what has worked for me. There's always more ways to fish the baits I talk about which I encourage people to share those in the comments to help us all become better anglers.
Very informative. Especially liked the idea of how to install the wedless style hooks. I fish arpund brush piles a lot and that will definitely help me.
As always great informative content and in the rain to boot, ya i'm watching your older videos waiting for the new ones, never fails always learn something new and valuable, You Rock Mr. Geek 100%watchsquad
Hey Hank, I got two Alabama rigs for Christmas and due to inclement weather haven't had a chance to try them yet. I also need to check the State Regulation on how many hooks I can use here in North Carolina. I am officially a baby with these things. I using a 7' 6" heavy Daiwa Tatula Rod and a Lews BFS reel in the 5 range, cant' remember the exact Ratio. I'm using braid to flurocarbon leader and tying and improved clinch. I use an Albright knot for my transition from the Smackdown Braid and Seagar Flurocarbon leader. Hope the braid doesn't screw up the wait the bait runs.
Great video man love watching everything you do I learn so much from you. On my A rig i use a garden hose washer slide it over the top and keeps it nice & tight for storage
Thanks for the video. I'm new to freshwater fishing and after watching a recent fishing tournament, I saw the Alabama rig. I'm gonna take your advice, buy it, and try it when I go to Arkansas. Thanks a million for a great video!
I agree with everyone else! Great, informative video, straight to the point! I like the way you own what you do and say. You explain why you do or do not like something! Awesome personality!
Bro this is a fantastic video with a ton of good info I have my first tournament of my second high school season tomorrow and I plan on workin one of these girls
Hi , I have just watched the video you shared about the Alabama rig. even I watched some video's about this rig I must say your video and your information are by far the best. So thanks a lot for the effort and patience under the rain. I am in Turkey a Turkish saltwater angler and here in Turkey or in the Mediterranian waters, the Alabama or Umbrella rig is just starting to get known. Unfortunately, there is no store selling this rig. I would like to ask you a question. If I would send you the needed amount of money would you buy and send me 2-3 of the alabama rig sets you would recommend ( without the soft bait - only the rig ) ?. I hope you and your family are always good and safe. Best regards Efdal
For you and that dirty water you fish blades and dark colors. The Keitech style baits would work well in that water. Just remember it just a BIG spinner bait.
Great video! 1 way to keep your ala. Rigs when not in use. For any constuction guys lowes and home depot sells a tube of constuction pencils they are about the same size as the strike king tube they come in just a cheap great way to store them. I think the whole tube of pencils is like 5 bucks.
I don't unless I'm fishing around fish I feel are keying on blue gill. If I'm fishing for smallies I'll add a bait or baits with chartreuse in'em. I'm not a big fan of the dip. I use the pens most of the time.
Another great video. Just started using a-rigs this year. Caught my first double 2 weeks ago on a Shane’s a rig. Keitech plastics are about all I use on it.
I know the exact fish I'll use it for as I do have 2 of them I ordered thinking it was saltwater umbrella rigs but it wasn't lol. We'll use them for baby bluefish also know as snappers.
So i love the alabama rig but slowest reel i got is 6-3-1 even that slow with mono i still don't like the torge on my reel so i am going try a catfish reel like abu 6500 c. On a 8 ft bass rod see if it handles it better. What do you think?
I think that's interesting. Keep me posted how it works. I enjoy my Abu winch 5.4:1 and I'm gonna try a BB1 6.4:1 That will give me two setups to play with.
Could I use a light wire straight shank hook to thread my swimbaits on? I’m working on a finesse bama rig for bank fishing and I have a three wire rig that weighs about 3/8 of an ounce. So it’s either I use something that has no weight or a 1/16 ounce jig head.
I snapped a heavy action rod about 6inches above the handle casting an a rig. I know use a 7’10” Denali extra heavy. I use 25lb flourocarbon. It’s very easy to back lash braid with a heavy a rig and you won’t be able to pick it out.
I agree I use the 7"10 arig rod by abu garcia. It's heavy fast but It's probable just a touch over that. Now I only use braid as a backing never to cast. I recommend if you're not used to casting Big swimbaits or arigs to start with mono. I use 20lb fl.
Question....Is an alabama rig the same as the umbrella rig? Not sure if its just another name or the amount of hooks change the name of the bait..... Thanks in advance for your time!#RippinLipsInc.
Just bought my first a-rig today. I plan to use it from the kayak. For risk of snags, I can’t imagine it working well from the bank. What are your thoughts on that?
Believe it or not they actually come free from cover real easy. Now if you set the hook I can't promise any thing but if you don't you just need to get right over it and shake it. It's got so much weight most of the time it will pull its self loose.
Awesome I don't know much about these rigs cuz I've never used one I want to once I can just didint know if it would be too hard on my gear or not and I will watch it!
Even though I feel like I’m kind of cheating when I fish these because these are just so realistic it’s so hard for a bass to not strike it’s still really fun
@@BassGeek thx again for the video , I watched it this morning since I was goin to my grandmother’s lake house, they just nailed it today. I kept catching one every 3 casts they ranged from half a pound to 4 pounds your video really helped!!
i don't ever want to hear someone tell me my swivel snap looks unnatural to fish and keeps them from biting due to the visible metal. ima hang this rig in my baby's crib
Hahaha!!! Throw a rigs on braid. You're worried about fish seeing the line??? It's a freakin chandelier made from wire!!!! If they aren't worried about the thick gage wire they aren't worried about 50 pound braid
It makes a difference. The line comes through the fish well before the baits. That’s why I also only throw it with wind. Seen it matter more than once. Plus that braid don’t have 5baits and x amount of blades hanging from it.
Makes me wonder if the fish feel the vibration from the braid but get spooked with no food they can see yet and maybe a diffrence or solid frequency that they do not recognize

Thank you and I hope you and yours are safe as well. HELLO TURKEY!
Terrific presentation! Well organized and full of useful information.
Thanks!
I never got in to tossing A rigs much, but it's definitely something I need to start doing. Great vid bro!
For you and that dirty water you fish blades and dark colors. The Keitech style baits would work well in that water. Just remember it just a BIG spinner bait.
TackleJunky81 man. It’s a must have down here in southern Oklahoma! I always have one rigged up somewhere in the boat.
They also work great in running spillways. And that situation, I recommend the one with the blades
Nice I’ll try it
Great video, not sure how I missed it. I lay the Flambeau dividers in my other box for rust protection too.
Hahaha they help and thank you
This is the best umbrella rig video i've watched!!!!!
I love these things.

New subscriber. Thanks for the video. Wanted to try fishing the A rig for a long time. Take care
I've got a GREAT advanced class video on it. You should check that out.
Great video BG. Thanks for putting up with the rain to make it !
Trust me I'm not sugar. lol Thanks for watching.
Do you ever dip the tail of one swimbait in chartreuse dye? If so which one would you dye. I would guess the middle or bottom bait.
I don't unless I'm fishing around fish I feel are keying on blue gill. If I'm fishing for smallies I'll add a bait or baits with chartreuse in'em. I'm not a big fan of the dip. I use the pens most of the time.
Youre standing in the rain ,you got your umbrella ....and your soaking wet lol
I had to think about that one

Nice Thanks I'm testing the Shane's stuff out. So far so good.
Love your videos man, will take and use some of your tips and tricks next season for saltwater applications
I have never seen anyone fish a a rig in salt water but I bet it would be killer.

Look at the Shane’s baits finesse rigs it’s a great place to start

BassGeek Yeah Abu Garcia rods seem to run a little heavier than other rod brands.
Question....Is an alabama rig the same as the umbrella rig? Not sure if its just another name or the amount of hooks change the name of the bait..... Thanks in advance for your time!#RippinLipsInc.
Yeah it's the same thing. Some states require fewer hooks but umbrella rig, ARig, Alabama rig, Chandelier. lol All the same.
@@BassGeek appreciate it now there is no question. .. thanks
Thank you! Lake Cumberland here i come
JesseandElla Warren Thank you.
Just bought my first a-rig today. I plan to use it from the kayak. For risk of snags, I can’t imagine it working well from the bank. What are your thoughts on that?
It can work from the bank I recommend light finesse arigs and belly weighted hooks so you can tex-spose the hooks and make them weedless
I seen people kill em on these, but if it was me I would snag and loose it first cast. Those double catchs are nice brotha
Believe it or not they actually come free from cover real easy. Now if you set the hook I can't promise any thing but if you don't you just need to get right over it and shake it. It's got so much weight most of the time it will pull its self loose.
Could not find the Boom Shad color you were using at Major League Lures.
I've don't use that brand any longer. Go check out the Patriot shad by Bassmunitions Lures and be sure to use the discount GEEK10 for a discount
How boutcha... whatz up VA boy here too... ever fish smith mtn lake? Arig city here
Hey what's up. I haven't fished up there in a few years but I need to get up there. That place has been coming back on like wild fire.
A heavier built Bama rig and a downrigger would probably work well for Lake and Rainbow trout in a lake
dcfanchris Awesome tip thanks!
Where are you from I live in Jonesborough Tn I’m close to the Tennessee Virginia state line as well
I’m In Big Stone Gap
Could the alabama rig operate from the bank in deep water?
JesseandElla Warren Oh yeah. Even shallow just adjust your rod tip and and weight.
Can you troll these rigs? Do they work with Crappie and Walleye?
Sure can
Kansas limit is 2. Wish I could try this. Thanks for the tutorial!
Man that stinks. Sorry.
TacticsTechniques&Procedures just use 2 hooks.
@@jeffkersbergen9894 You can put one on the bottom and one of the target.

NO NOT AT THIS TIME !!
have you ever caught 5 bass on one cast with that? i bet itd be a hell of a fight!
hahaha Now but I'm trying. I have caught 2 twice but that's it.
@@BassGeek that would be so awesome. love your videos man, you taught me alot. keep em crankin!
How do you “count down” to the fish? How do you know how fast the bait falls?
I've got a great video on just that from this past summer ua-cam.com/video/JdOhaNzxDT8/v-deo.html
Thanks allot of good info.
Thank you I have a lot of Arig video's that go really indepth.
would a 6.3.1 gear ratio be to fast for a A rig
Nope It will work. My newest Arig combo is a 6.4:1. There will be times I need to slow it down but so far so good.
great video bassgeek!!
Thanks!
Can you use these well with a 6.4:1 gear ratio?
Oh yeah. You should see this video I'm using a 6.5:1 ua-cam.com/video/BHBpR0af1l8/v-deo.html
Awesome I don't know much about these rigs cuz I've never used one I want to once I can just didint know if it would be too hard on my gear or not and I will watch it!
Great video brother!
Thanks man! I need to yell at you sometime before the end of the year.
Nice video, never got into that rig. - Scott.
It's a great rig I would recommend the finesse version for bank anglers or shallow water.
The Doubles is epic
Hahahaha Thanks man!
Great video buddy
BA Fishing Thanks man!
What about trolling it with braid spider wire maybe 50lb?
And I'm fishing out of a 3rivers 10 foot angler kayak.
You can troll them you would need to go slow.

Lost me at fluorocarbon. Invisibility is a non-factor on a rig with a bunch of very visible wires.
Aser Yeah I’ve heard that argument before but those wires aren’t running past the fish for 20yds before the bait gets there.
