I'll be the first to admit it, I thought the fluke was a trash bait but let me tell you, since I watched this video I have been CRUSHING it with the fluke! Now it's my go to bait all year round. Just caught a big largie today on it! Thanks for the knowledge and shifting my perspective! Tight lines!
Hard to beat a fluke anytime. Recently on Russell & Clarks hill I've been doing well on double tiny fluke rig because how small bait is. Also really like using weighted swimbait hooks get deeper & work quickly plus baits last way longer on the screwlocks!
Used one for a spinner bait trailer yesterday from my kayak, got a nice 19 inch large mouth. Thank you for your videos, they're a BIGGGGGG help and I've caught more since I've started watching. 🙏🤠
Funny you started with this bait. So did I after seeing your video(s). Bought a lakeside home last fall. Fishing experience to that point had always been with live bait. Watched your videos, bought a couple colors of Flukes and had great success this year. Well, until mid-August when it was hot up here in Illinois. Thanks so much for all your content. I'm learning a lot and always pass your name on to friends that fish! Thanks Gene!
Hey. Flute Master is your title and you've earned it. LOL. Anyway I just want to say man thank you for the videos and for taken the time out to do what you do. I really appreciate it bro I really hope I get to meet you one day
Im newish to bass fishing but not new to fishing. I order the Fluke Jr i believe in the exact color you have White Ice. Ive fished it about a dozen times and havent had a bite. I was thinking about trying it again so your video came in at a good moment.
@@scottvaughn9565 Thanks Scott I plan on trying it again very soon. Right now we had a tremendous downpour and its going to take a bit for the river to clear. Any other tips appreciated..
I tried fishing a fluke once and I really hated how it swam but I’ve been fishing Square bills and that movement really draws bass. I’ve heard every UA-camr suggestion a fluke for the fall transitions and after the 3rd time, I went out and bought some Flukes to try again. If it works then I need to learn.
I tried it its a trial And error once you get the feel for it and keep the line tight youll be good i caught my first one on a fluke last week was a bigg boi for that pond
Thanks for the video. One thing I will say is, there is a ton of technical info in this video that a new fisherman may just not need to know starting out. action speeds and weight, different types of line etc. I've spend soo much time and money over complicating fishing, just to come back to the lessons I learned as a kid.
I fish a caffeine shad around deep submerged grass on a 3/32oz twistlock 4/0 weighted hook. The bass are chasing schools of shinners this time of year and this bait is magic.
Nice!!! Liking the history stories!! Wait folks, there's a bass under my ask me a question cause this ain't no fluke; wait yes it is, no it isn't, but it is lol. Enjoy your channel soo much!!
Question. Since you fish both kayak and bass boats in the past, would you use the same equipment in the different type of boats or adjust for the different boats. Thanks
Love your videos they're straightforward and to the point, and I watch quite a number of them. Might I make a suggestion? Could you raise the camera on your chest a little bit, or lower your hands a little bit, I know that's a lot to ask it will make it easer to see where the bait hits the water. Sometimes you'll describe an area, but I see other areas that look similar. I'm not sure of what you're talking about. if I can see the bait hit the water, it makes it clearer where I should be casting to. Thank you in advance. Keep the videos rolling, they're very informative
I caught three and lost two yesterday on one fluke. After the third one, I bit about a 1/2” off and rebooked it. The last bass I missed was also the biggest and it was on the shortened fluke.
Man I love a fluke .. actually just went and picked up a couple of packs of Zoom Flukes yesterday .. just the regular white pearl ones , and also the albino ones as well .. I've used the pink ones and the green ones , dark green ones , brown , etc .. but I've learned that not any of them work as good as just the regular old white ones and white with the kinda blue back that's called albino .. what are y'all's favorite Flukes and colors to use ?? I'm up for trying different brands and colors. Help me out. Thanks in advance !!!!!
Great video! That said, I never hear of guy’s throwing a fluke in the winter months ( Dec, Jan, Feb )… it would seem like a fluke would be deadly! Long cast, let it sink 10-12’+, and slow twitch it back to the boat. Fluke’s have an uncanny ability to look like a dying baitfish. You’d think ( seeing that they can be worked slowly but with a ton of action ) they’d be a great backup to a jerkbait!
I occasionally rig the fluke upside down. That way you are not skin hooking the hook and the hook will expose itself freely when a fish hits it because it is in the hook slot. I can get 5-10 bass per fluke doing this.
On this video what caught my attention was that barrel swivel. I fish it exactly how it was shown on this video except with a floro to braid knot and not a swivel
Been years since I have had a fluke tied on, now its Nov. and the bass is still chasing shad up in the shallows so I have one tied on in your honor I'm sure it will be fun!
I got a shimano curado mgl 150 and I could probably cast an empty hook on my mh not really but it'll cast a fluke no weight and no swivel no problem it's my favorite reel I'm getting another one in the next few months
Great video Gene.. I'm not a huge fluke fisherman, but I do enjoy them when the fish eat em.. Curious, when rigging the fluke on the hook, do you worry about how much of it covers the eye of the hook? I have found that leaving the eye out will make it run and act differently than it you cover the eye with the head. Just wandering if you've found any kind of concern in that? Thanks again for the great info.
Another great informative video. Thanks for sharing. I'd like to know what are your thoughts on the 6th Sense flush and the Gary Yamamoto d-shads? Worth using?
@@Flukemaster If flukes are "the name of the game" you should do a review of different brands of soft jerk baits. I know you've done a bunch of technique videos but reviewing different brands would be pretty cool. Just a thought. Love your channel, NEVER STOP. ✌️

It’s been a long time since I’ve watched one of your videos for a reason. I really appreciate this content. It feels way more like Flukemaster used to be
Thanks bro. I'm bringing back old school for a while. I'm still going to mix in a few tournament vids and a few sponsor videos but most of them will be these types.
Biggest bite I ever got was on a pearl shad super fluke. I was twitching it until it would stop and float on the surface, and then flutter back down a couple feet. When the fish hit, I felt like I instantly had a 20# dumbbell tied to the tip of my rod. And then I missed the hookset. Still haunts me. I was using a 3/0, should have been using a 5/0
So I see you talking about barrel swivels in alot of rigs, my question is if you are tying leaders either from braid or what have you, do you always go to swivels? The reason I ask is because I just bought braid for my finesse rod, and I'm trying to see if a barrel would be better than a line to leader knot?
Haha I love the fluke so much, my friend calls me the Female Flukemaster 😅 I think it’s interesting that you recommend the barrel swivel for your leader instead of a direct tie. I usually just use a double uni to go from my braid to fluoro leader. Does the swivel really give that much better action?
Fantastic advice. Seems the only limit to fishing flukes is your imagination. Here in Southern California flukes produce in fresh and salt water. And top to bottom.
Hey Fluke, does that barrel swivel go into your guides on the rod when you cast? Looked like less than 18” of line hanging when you were casting. Thanks!!!
The camera I use is the Sony ZV1. It has a focus setting that is made for should things close. The only time it has issues is if the lighting is way off.

I have a question and you may have a video for it already but what is so important about a leader?
How do you like the 13 fishing concept a2
You got me into in fluke fishing
Thanks for the video, are you using the swivel to prevent line twist?
Yes and it also adds a little weight.
@@Flukemaster I get line twist using a wacky rig. Should I be using a swivel on the wacky?
Spinning reels cause line twist as well but a swivel will reduce that a bit.

The reason I ask is because I just bought braid for my finesse rod, and I'm trying to see if a barrel would be better than a line to leader knot?
I only use swivels on riggs that will get a lot of line twist or that need a little added weight without changing the action on the lure.
They are also killer behind a chatterbait then in the fall I lose the chatterbait go fluke go.
