Can you do teen beach movie next?
I liked it well enough, but wouldn't have minded a second season, as it might have improved upon the mistakes of season one! 😁
People were pissed when miss piggy and Kermit broke up man it was crazy 🤔
To be fair, the show was average at best. BTW, please do Yin Yang Yo! next. (And possibly anything else Jetix-related if you feel like it.)
I honestly, and thoroughly, enjoyed it, but the real problem that many including myself had was, we just wanted them to bring The Muppet Show back and sadly, this wasn't it.
The showrunner actually changed halfway through the series, which explains the tonal shift.
Oh is that why? Honestly I figured it was something planned from the start. Get a bit meta wirh their writing as if they knew the reaction they'd get. But showrunner changing halfway though makes a whole lot of sense
I really wish they would bring this show back. It was a great show towards the end and had it kept going it would have brought The Muppets back to a wider audience. It didn't even do that bad in the ratings. It was canned because ABC got a new president and they didnt like the show because it wasn't theirs.
Who were the previous and new showrunners?
I was pretty bummed when this show got canceled , I thought it had a huge amount of potential.
I agree, it was incredibly shortlived, and definitely deserved another chance to prove itself funny.
Same.
Yeah me too especially after that cliffhanger
Too bad studios don't see potential only results. Often only care about the short term not the long term
Me too
If nothing else this series made me realize how underrated Uncle Deadly is. The guy’s hilarious.
“Oh please, I’ve woven such a cocoon of lies she doesn’t know her size, weight, or even how old she is.”
I liked this show but I loved Deadly. Best character in this version of the Muppets.
He sticks around as Miss Piggy’s personal assistant in the Disney plus series
I like the idea of Miss Piggy having a personal assistant, but I wouldn't have picked Uncle Deadly. He's better as a phantom villain. I would've brought back Hilda or Annie Sue.
@@DaddyOfTheSugarVariety wasn’t he one of Chris cooper’s personal assistants in the 2011 movie?
@@Maniac536 That only worked because he was a villain (in the beginning).
It's like this particular version of The Muppets was secretly funded by Wilkins Coffee just to break Kermit's spirit.
...and then it got better when Miss Piggy started to bring him some at the start of each show. I guess bad things happen when the cast and crew don't drink Wilkins.
"you should've known better than to drink something other than wilkins coffee"
"Producers who don't drink Wilkins Coffee will lose more than their second season."
XD Dangit Wilkins.
Animal has some of the best lines in the show. "You morning cry I morning cry" "Too many cities too many women"
On the twenty-eighth Disneycember, my critic gave to me:
Twenty-eight muppets
Twenty-seven cat jokes
Twenty-six obscure films
Twenty-five minute short
Twenty-four martians
Twenty-three CG dogs
Twenty-two freed slaves
Twenty-one crazy ghosts
Twenty cool characters
Nineteen zombies dancing
Eighteen warriors battling
Seventeen pet actors
Sixteen speaking roles
Fifteen experiments
Fourteen Aliens singing
Thirteen X-Men films
Twelve Narration scenes
Eleven mice-a-squeaking
Ten wacky stories
Nine cliched genres
Eight X-men fighting
Seven on IMDB
Six Flynn-Fletchers
FIVE BLAND NEW PLANETS!
Four magic elves
Three wasted hours
Two best buds
And a pigeon in a pear tree
Thanks a bunch.
@@mystery8820 sure. I was so surprised to see that the most liked comment was about me. Thanks.
Guess the Line Game
Friend: Twenty-eight crazy characters!
Me: Twenty-eight Muppets
I’m early enough Channel Awesome hasn’t loved your comment.
Don't you mean "Muppet puppets"?
I still remember Beakers impression of miss piggy! And that was hilarious
Beaker: “Me ME ME”
OMG That is sheer genius!!!
I KNOW!
It's like she's in the room
Any minute now, the 12 Days of Christmas guy will type a comment in song.

Ask, and ye shall receive.
I love how they have become known 🤣 everyone anticipates them!
For me you can pinpoint the moment the tone shifts to the episode where Kermit is suffering from stress and needs to find a way to cope. At the end, he does, by singing ranbow connection to himself at home. That was the moment the show became sincere in my view
Fozzie: "I'm not so sure about that new craft service guy. He seems to push some kind of coffee and starts harming those who refuse."
Kermit: "Sorry. He's my cousin who needs the work."
*HOLD IT*
The only thing you should be holding is a cup of Wilkins coffee.
If you don't like Wilkins Coffee, what happens next will serve you right.
Wilkins: "Have you tried Wilkins Coffee yet?"
Fozzy: "I can't. Bears are allergic to coffee."
Wilkins: "Bears are allergic to living, too!"
[BAM!!!!!!]
Guys, it's Fozzie. "Fozzy" is the name of Chris Jericho's band.
Thank you for not tearing apart this show. The first 3 episodes are kind of mean spirited but it gets so much better as it goes. I hope Disney will try to continue the show on Disney +. I actually found myself binge watching it after getting passed the first 3 episodes.
Same
Dido. Like it's not perfect, but I like for what it is. I at least think this deserves another season at most.
Right now, we're getting The Muppets Mayhem, a spin-off for the Electric Mayhem, so things are looking up.
I must be one of a few people who actually enjoy this. I love abc's The Muppets. and really wish it wasn't cancelled so soon.
Same here, I still watch it on Disney+ tbh
i honestly found it funny and refreshing xD i was never the biggest fan of The Office, but i liked the formula of that show here. i mean hell the title of the show is done in the same font even, as if to let you know exactly what the show is going to be like xD i was amused the whole time
I'm a huge Muppet and Jim Henson fan, and this show is among my Top 10 favorite Muppet productions.
@@bro.b.i.b.4248 its yet another sad thing mistaken for a children's show. this show is NOT for kids. i honestly think that's where it failed: people thinking 'oh muppets, imma show my kids!' even tho it wasn't even really advertised as such. >3> a real shame Dx
I always felt when people complained that it was too mean clearly didn't see the original muppet series. Kermit was losing his damn mind constantly and people just ignored him and did their thing anyway. Miss Piggy was constantly violent, difficult to work with, and also prone to outrageous acts when she felt she was being upstaged. I was so sad when this show was canceled, and the new web series style show they're doing on Disney+ just doesn't seem to have the same vibe.
"Our show bombed so now we're doing this! YAYYYYYY!"
Lol
I read this in Kermit's voice and got quite a chuckle out of it 😁👍
Me too, @@kayEnt3rtainm3nt
I hope this show comes back eventually; it was truly a hidden gem.
I feel the same about the anime Mushi Shi!!!! I WISH SEASON TWO GOT A DUB SO BADLY
@@princessthyemis Eyyy a fellow Mushi-Shi fan!
Not going to happen and honestly I think Disney will cancel Muppets Now any day now as well
@@Musiclover19 I agree. No offense, Muppets Now lacks a lot of charm, humor and heart. I liked this series better probably because it was more carried with adult humor at the same time the Muppets naturally relating to the real world.
Yes, the same is in Muppets Now, but the episodes didn't make me laugh once. These episodes had me holding my side from laughing so hard.
@@okarifox oh my gosh YAAAAAAY! You love Mushi-shi too?! It's one of my favorite shows EVER!!! I'm so glad I'm not alone! It deserves waaaaay more love and recognition! Do you have any favorite episodes? I love The Light of the Eyelid (the one where mushi were living in the girl Sei's eyes and she was in a shed!) I'm so happy to meet another fan!!!!!!!
Remember when Miss Piggy actually broke up with Kermit?
Me neither.
I agree, HarmonyBunny. I don't recall them having the talk real couples have about breaking up I only read ab article on the internet. I thought it was it the only episode of the show I saw addresses the breakup quickly but it then moves directly to him attracted to the new girl of the group and happens to be another pig. I found that hilariously bizarre and hilariously working at the same time
@@jbwarner8626 I've always hated the pairing because she's such a freaking bitch. xD If their genders were reversed it'd be creepy, wouldn't it?
I somehow remember it being a big deal
The Today Show.
"But Piggy, I thought you said Gonzo was going to play the divorce lawyer..."
I remember when Kermit was the cynic. Hell, his opening song in the Muppets Movie, "The Rainbow Connection" is mildly nihilistic.
Fozzie: I don't know how to thank you!
Kermit: I don't know WHY to thank you.
He was cynic but always respectful
I honestly enjoyed this particular iteration of the Muppets. I wish it had continued
That was truly something.
Yeah, something terrible!
(Insert Stadler and Waldorf's laughter)
D'OOOOHOHOHOHO...
LOL...I love the grumpy elder husbands...
I wanted more of this show SO bad. Deserved a second season.
Fozzy is so underappreciated with his comedic wit.

I swear this should deserved a season 2
“Kermit Kermit Kermit!”
“Scooter remember calm down use your words”
“We have a code red”
"We created a color coded system to track Piggy's moods. Green, she's calm, but we've never been at green. Yellow, she's in tears. Orange, I'M in tears. But with a code red if she locks eyes with you, it's already too late."
That moment when the Muppets tried to be the office XD
That would never work.
They even have the same font in the title
The font is the same too
I was just about to comment this
Who are the Muppet equivalents of Dwight and Jim?
That sucks that it got cancelled after one season, I loved Kermit and the others when I saw it.
What upsets me more is that Steve got fired shorty after this. He was great with Kermit, Rizzo, Beaker, and everything he did.
Disney pisses me the fuck off for the shit they've pulled.
I actually really liked this show. I wished that the network had given it another chance, as a second season might have ironed out what didn't work the first time. 😁
Me too :(
Why are the intros of these disneycembers always way louder than the video itself? Level those waveforms.
Agreed...
SOMEBODY FINALLY SAID IT
And for the love of God, First Viewing needs it even more.
i actually enjoyed the muppets show it was good, i laughed hard when Fozzie said he was looking for a bear to love but not THAT type of bear hahahaha
I gotta be honest, I saw this show when it was on the air & I LOVED IT! I wish more people gave it a chance. Seriously I miss this show.
ABC's "The Muppets", brought to you by Wilkins Coffee.
Wilkins Coffee: you drink that coffee or get shot
I remember watching this show when it came out and liking it. Maybe it's time for a rewatch.
Better than Muppets Now.
I couldn’t make it past the first episode. The new Kermit actor is atrocious and it’s just a hollow shell of what the Muppets are supposed to be
@@_Gambitute It’s no coincidence that the Muppets started sucking after Disney bought them.
Oh, am I relieved! I was terrified that’d you be one of those who hate this show, call it an insult, and beg people to pretend it doesn’t exist. You did none of that, and I’m very grateful
I'm addition to the writing, comedy, relationships, and characters, I really love the puppetry on this show! It looks amazing!! It's one of the best things about this series! In my opinion, the puppetry here rivals so much of what the Muppets have done in the past!
My thoughts exactly! I really liked the whole series, but halfway through, the show gets nicer and, at least in my opinion, a lot better. But by the time it changed, it was too late and enough people were turned off by it to give it another try.
this is my favorite show of all time thank you for covering it! it has so much potential as a concept it just needed more direction behind the scenes
Honestly I really enjoyed this show. This is coming from someone who doesn't care for the mocumentary
I binge watched this with my brother on Disney + and absolutely agree with what you said with the review. The first few episodes are a little hard to watch because of how mean everyone was acting in it. But as the show goes along it does get much more pleasant and begins to feel more Muppets like. And I honestly think that was apart of the joke of the show. Plus they use Uncle Deadly again, who fun fact: Was an old forgotten Muppets character. And he was my favorite part of the show. He was hilarious. I hope this show can get a following and encourage Disney to revive it.
Nope. It was apparently course correction done midway.
Doug calls himself a Muppets fan, but doesn’t know Sam The Eagle 🤦🏾♂️
To be fair, his name is RARELY said on screen. Which is weird, as he appears all the damn time.
Kinda wish for season 2 of this, love it
Sounds very similar to the "House of Mouse".
Not really. House of Mouse was basically just a showcase for recycled Mickey Mouse Works shorts along with a few classic Disney shorts. This show was more reminiscent of NBC's single camera sitcoms like The Office, 30 Rock and Parks and Rec.
I actually loved this show and watched it every week on primetime.
I actually liked it a lot simply for what they did with my facile character Zoot. Every single time he days a line I died.
I like to think that this is a giant Muppets sketch parody of The Office
Reviewing The Muppets on my birthday it’s a dream come true
Harry Birthday
@@CrypticCharm thanks
Happy Birthday bud!
Next time there's an earthquake in California, it's Jim Henson spinning in his grave.
My favorite bit from this show was when the guys were at the bar, and they wanted Beaker to do his Miss Piggy impression.
I do have to wonder what Jim Henson would have thought of this.
I remember seeing it on tv once back in 2015 and younger me loved it and looking at it now I see how.
I loved this show, I so wish they made more seasons.
I loved this show all the way through. I don't mind the mean stuff.
"There's a show next door full of dancing stars and you bring back Tom Bergeron!?!"
Okay WAIT. Anyone who hasn’t seen this, start. I’m not even two minutes in and they make a joke about an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting. This really is The Office with muppets
The Office is the most overrated series since Friends. It's not funny, just cringey.
@@Maulbert hey man, you can have your opinions. But just because something’s popular doesn’t mean it isn’t enjoyable. I agree, it’s got more hype than it deserves, but it’s not cool to bash something just for the sake of it to someone who enjoys it. If it’s not for you, it’s not for you
I enjoyed this show and never saw where the criticisms were coming from at all
I thought this show was hilarious.
I absolutely loved this show. I feel like it didn't get enough time to really shine. Wish it was given a 2nd season.
I love how now that Disney plus exists I can watch literally all of the stuff he reviews for Disneycember right after he reviews them
I loved this show, but I'm still sad that Walter wasn't in it.
Either way it made him such a sad waste
@Chris Smalls Oh good!
I would have rather seen Skeeter, Scooter's twin sister from Muppet Babies, grown up. I don't get why the studio won't make her canon.
@@Goldstar_ I have been thinking the same ever since the original Muppet Show. But since we was the only sport enthusiast of the bunch I just imagine she pursued that instead. Yet we could have had her still visiting from behind the scenes
@@gianinabadami5341 Exactly! Skeeter could show up to visit her brother and her old friends from time to time at least.
OH THANK GOD THIS SHOW WASN'T A FEVER DREAM OF MINE
The show’s key problem is people keep forgetting the Muppets were always a lot edger than they remember. It goes back to the stupid mindset that any form of visual media that isn’t a pure live action TV show MUST be for children.
I don't care what anyone says, in my mind Kermit and Piggy will always be together. People complain about how their relationship is abusive, but you have to remember that these are MUPPETS! In just about any episode, you'll find these characters being pressed into walls, being blown up and having chickens thrown at them!
It should have gotten a lot more seasons.
I do remember a hiatus between episodes happening. Maybe there was some heavy rewrites in that time to address the criticism and be self aware about it.
More than that. They fired the showrunner by the first half of the season.
My dad and I really wanted to watch it when it came out, so we watched the first episode, enjoyed it.
And then we kinda just forgot it existed, he forgot entirely, as for me it came back to me every now and then years later but it didn't make me feel I should watch it again.
Thank you for this. I gave up on the show after the 3 episodes. Now I think I'll give it another shot.
to be fair Rob watched more episodes than Doug did, I still remember back when he still had his facebook page, and I still remember when he said he was giving up on it and I was like "well it's too bad you feel that way, because last night's episode was really good" (mind you this was the christmas episode)
I feel I should bring up that I remember that when they announced their break up, they also mentioned the premiere date of their show and it got me real suspicious that they were playing this up for the show
thought a part of me wishes that they revived Muppets Tonight instead, even if you can't have Clifford host it(no I don't buy the Kevin Clash reason because he had been AWOL for about 7 years before the scandal broke), then have Gonzo and Rizzo do it considering what they did with Muppet Christmas Carol and Muppet Classic Theater
This show is so underrated
On the 28th, my birthday, the Critic gave to me: a show to sit down with and laugh.
This was way better then Muppets Now and I'm mad it got canned after 12 episodes and that it dis not get a chance to grow.
Muppets Now was cute but honestly kind of stupid. I hope Disney + will at least try to continue this Muppets series instead.
Muppets Now isn't perfect (neither was this), but it's not unfixable. Perhaps in the next crop of episodes the writers could fix some of the problems with the show.
god I miss this show so much
I loved this show, a pity it only had one season.
This show is really funny, a good watch...
Someday we need a video where Doug gives his honest thoughts on the shows he keeps making references to, but never gets to share his full thoughts. The Office, Parks and Rec, Psych, Lost, even a few of the Star Trek shows.
In Spain, the “bear dating” gag it’s even better. After the gag he ads “but, hey, a date is a date”
This show had so much potential
I loved this show. I felt like as long as you put your mindset at "I want to see what the Muppets are like behind the show, when they aren't just being clowns for our amusement." I feel like if people could get their head's wrapped around that they could love this show as much as I did.
For example people saying Kermit is always the upbeat, positive character who does his best to find the bright side of ever situation even if it drives him nuts. That Kermit is a character created for the Muppet show. The Kermit we get on this show is his real self. He isn't just a character anymore you have to view him like a real person who's job it is to produce this talk show. Its a pretty meta concept when you think about it since the Muppets aren't real people. I mean its a character inside a character wrapped around a doll with a hand up its butt. 🤣
I still can't believe Miss Piggy said "Sex it to me, Sake boys!" on this show. The late Jim Henson and Frank Oz would be pissed when they hear that.
Have to agree - there never would have been the mean-spirited first half of a season with Jim still around.
Oh yeah, let's forget about all those Wilkins commercials Jim made
The funny thing is when the show came out, everyone complained it was too adult. Like the original Muppet Show was for preschoolers? lol Cmon, let them be a little naughty
Janice was great in this. So was Scooter and Uncle Deadly.
I love mean shows so thats why im obsesed with this series
I'd remembered Kermit being together with Mrs.Piggy NOT being broken up like a Divorced cupule
Genuinely an incredible show killed FAR before its time.
It isn't even that far out from the idea of the Muppets.
Fozzie's girlfriend's dad: "What if you had children? Where would they go to the bathroom? In the woods?"
Fozzie: "Okay, THAT is an offensive stereotype."
They pretty much brought back the original personalities. Which were not for kids
This needs another season
Absolutely fecking amazing mate
I remember reading back when this first aired that some people actually wanted Kermit and Piggy to STAY broken up. And while I can see what they meant - Piggy is an angry control freak, showing a person (of either sex) beat up their significant other is now recognised as abuse and not a source of comedy - it again wouldn't be true to the spirit of the Muppets. Kermit and Piggy may not be perfect for each other but they still have a connection and to see them give up on that would be heart-breaking for not just the fans but the cast as well.
I really liked the “We Can Do It All Again” song Kermit sings.
I also really liked this movie as a kid and enjoyed rewatching it.
....
Sam the Eagle acting as the show's head-censor? Yeah, I can see that.
I grew up on reruns of The Muppet Show/Muppets Tonight, so I might look for this on dvd.
I was dying laughing throughout the first episode
So Kermit is just like he was when he first made, and has to learn more about himself. I kind of like it. I should check this out.
I thought this show was amazing. We all love the heart felt Muppets and Disney gave us that with their first movie. This was a step in a different direction. I loved it. It reminds me a lot of Jim’s initial plan to have the Muppets for adults. I thought this show was very funny. The Muppets in this were definitely a lot less warm hearted but it didn’t take it too far and there are moments that remind us these are indeed the same heart felt Muppets we know. I completely believe this is what it would be like behind the scenes of the Muppets putting on shows. This was a really good show and I hate that it didn’t get a second chance!!
I really liked this show, and I was so bummed it got cancelled.
The show changed showrunners halfway through Because of audience reactions
Muppets Now was a huge improvment.
This was a really great show (not just for muppet show - but show of any show) - from beginning to end. The humor was some of the best I've seen. I didn't notice anything any different really. Really surprised to hear some people didn't like it - so glad I never read anything anyone had to say online and just enjoyed it.
Really want this show to come back
Surprised the soul review for the Pixar movie isn’t out yet
Probably saving it for New Year’s Eve like he did for Inside Out in 2015.
@@isaacmapes yeah that’s odd
