DuckTales is an American animated television series, developed by Matt Youngberg and Francisco Angones, and produced by Disney Television Animation. The series is a reboot of the original 1987 series of the same name, which focused on the lives of Scrooge McDuck and his family as they engaged in a variety of adventures around the world, as well as in the fictional city of Duckburg. The reboot itself focuses on newer elements and deeper character stories, including a greater involvement of Donald Duck.

Doug needs to do an episode log of the entire series now that it's ended.
Haven’t watched it but it looks amazing!
It's really cool and amazing I love how it shows references to A Goofy Movie
There's a recurring joke where there's an adventure in the background or with a minor character that we don't get to see that I wish we had seen and it gets old quickly in my opinion, but that's my only real issue with the series.
One of the few great animated shows that Disney had produced these years.
The greatest thing this show pulled off was making Della not only feel like she belongs, but like she's been a part of the picture the whole time. The first season makes us actually feel like she's someone that Scrooge and Donald and Beakley really knew, not just this nebulous mary sue of a concept. By the time she makes her way home, we're not just excited to meet her, we feel like we've been missing her all along.
I really don't understand why Americans are going crazy over Della, but she is what she is. A bad written character who doesn't belong into the Duck family, but the writer's (unlike Rosa) are too stupid to realize that. Her addition results in the immediate tossing away of Donald which then happened.
So true.
No it doesn’t you just feel that way because Disney regretted so scripts where Donald was main character. Donald for some reason was only allowed a limited amount of time on screen
Also his presence was felt to me
Not really there was much more to her character and arch they could have done. Not to mention lots that was not addressed
I'll be honest here, I could see the differences from the start. Each of the triplets has one characteristic that they're uncle does. Huey has scrooge's brains, dewy has his sense of adventure, and Louie has his love of money.
Or: Smarter than the Smarties (Huey), Tougher than the Toughies (Dewey) and Sharper than the Sharpies (Louie).
Damn that’s a great way to put it
Best thing this show did was make Hewey, Dewey, and Louie unique people.
"Red One...Red One...? Green One!" Best Gyro line of the show and he had some doozies.
Quack Pack, the 90's show
@@philliptivis3082 Bluueeee Nephew!
Don‘t forget Webby. The original had her be, well, a girl.
Boooo
I just love that the show pulls from every single piece of Ducktales media, not to mention the Disney Afternoon stuff. The Gargoyles reference was truly amazing.
I must have missed that one. Where is Gargoyles referenced?
@@leovk5779 when the headless manhorse gets his head back
@@bisine oh ok, thx ;)
I literally started screaming when I saw that reference. So many shows were referenced in the show, but not Gargoyles. Then they bring in that one out of nowhere and it was amazing
Funny thing is, I realized it was Keith David doing the voice literally at the exact moment before the theme song kicked in
I do disagree that the 3 brothers weren't distinct by the first season. It's definitely elaborated on _more_ in season 2, but they never felt like clones to me. Even by the pilot you can see how each of them idolizes something *different* about Scrooge that reflects their own personalities. Smarts, adventuring, riches. The episodes that delve into that more are some of my favorites, like Louie [spoilers]
*Becoming the Richest Duck in the World(TM) through one of his schemes and it carrying over into the next episode, showing both him proving his incredible potential and also his childlike understanding that makes him not as good at it as Scrooge. Though even so with that episode, Scrooge has something to learn _from him_ too, it's great.
I agree. After season 1 was finished, I had a good read on all three nephews.
Huey was the book-smart one, with a wide-eyed sense of wonder regarding new discoveries, while also prone to becoming flustered over not knowing everything, and not being the best at improvising during high-stress situations.
Louie was the clever one, crafty and quick-witted, but also tended to be lazy, a little too obsessed with monetary values, and too often wanting to opt for the easy-street approach to problem solving.
And then there's Dewey, passionate to a fault and eager to prove himself, while also being the dumbest out of the three of them, and being too much of a show off.
In the first 3 and half minutes of episode 1 their characterizations are shown. You might need to have the benefit of hindsight, but when they're all describing why they're excited to meet Scrooge, Dewey says he's epic, Huey says he's smart and Louie says he's rich.
I'll always remember Ducktales for several things
1) That Negaduck reveal
2) Scrooge's line about Santa "That man is not allowed in my home, he knows what he did."
3) Della Duck and making the Moon theme canon.
4) Being a home for wayward Doctor Who actors.
5) Scrooge fakes being old and blind to get out of paying for lunch.
Best show ever.
"How do you think Della found out you built the Spear of Selene?"
My jaw DROPPED at that quote.
The one who said it turned from a villain to an utter monster.
He was totally sick (and not in a good way) - the worst part? His constant insistence that he WASN'T a villain.
@@SuperSongbird21 To himself, he isn't. In his head he's the hero for reducing all that random, destructive and oh-so-expensive chaos in the world.
@@TarossBlackburn And what's worse then a villain who thinks they're the good guy?
Della went on the rocket, the spirit Celine on her own free will anything happen after that it’s her fault, darling screw trying to find out and not talking to each other for the first 10 years the boys lives Donald reason the boys in poverty(OK Scrooge and Donald should’ve had a talking to at some point) but much of the boys, strife and emotional issues, and the families issues were her fault.
That doesn't mean she had to get on the rocket.
Agreed. This show ruled, and demonstrated how to reboot something old right.
Still waiting for the Darkwing Duck spin off.
Same.
My expectations are soaring after Ducktales!
Sadly, as much as I want it to be, i don't think the darkwing reboot wilp be a spin off of this
Seth Rogan is going the Darkwing reboot, so it will suck.
@@shreb6182 It is spinning off from this series. They announced it a long time ago.
I dare say I like the reboot more than the original ducktales, and yes I grew up with the original ducktales but I felt more attached to the reboot characters and was more sad to see them go when the series ended
I daresay I agree with you! I remember the original series but I absolutely loved this reboot. Webby was actually more of a striking change to me and I thought it was awesome. It’s disappointing that they didn’t continue because I would have liked to see where they would have kept going. I did want to see what eventually happened with that whole Negaduck thing because what a twist!
@@ionianblue31 yeah, unfortunately the reboot fell victim to the disney curse: disney cancels it too soon
I still prefer the original but I do love what this reboot gave us! We got Della, The Disney Afternoonverse and even a Gargoyles nod! There are aspects of this reboot I do appreciate!
It's not just you. I grew up on the 87 series too and I loved it as a kid, but the reboot truly is better in almost every possible way. I envy the kids that get to grow up with this.
The reboot is what you thought the original series was as opposed to what it actually is
It's funny how Doug went through this entire analysis without mentioning anything about Scrooge. You know... *The main character???*
Did Scrooge have that little impact to the show compared to the supporting characters?
No, I don't think that is the case. Not sure why he neglected talking about McDuck all that much.
I guess because his character was, as a reboot and scrooge point of view, a perfect character. He is the scrooge we love so much and the reboot delivered it flawlessly. So anything about scrooge is pointless to mention.
Probably because Scrooge was a pretty well-defined character and had little change where nearly every other character has had a massive revamp, the triples all have unique personalities, Webby is very different and Della actually EXISTS 😅
Yeah because the way they portray Scrooge in this show is very interesting. They show from where he evolved from a past where he not only had to work hard for where he got to now but he also had a jaded, greedy side that sometimes he would lose sight of important things like family and friendship. All this ties into how he was depicted in the comics. And David Tennant does a great job at replacing the late Alan Young as the voice.
No, it's because Scrooge is the same as he's always been and didn't go through any major changes, so if you know Scrooge in the original, you know him in this.
Definitely one of the best animated revivals out there.
And they pull the plug for...reasons... 🤔
Along with Animaniacs
Honestly the only two good revivals are ducktales and animaniacs… and that over that past few years
The Moon arc involving the iconic NES song of the same name, in the form of a Mother's Lullaby, was a nice touch.

The biggest thing I loved in this show was Della Duck and Magica de Spell. Paget Brewster gave Della such an amazing personality. A mom that wants to prove herself to her kids. But at the same time, she's still kind of a dork by nature. She has a temper, she's a worry wart but at the same time a dareless adventurer. She has so much personality and is so loveable. At the same time Catherine Tate absolutely loves being the villain! Every line she says as Magica she relishes and loves. And then you have the absolutely wonderful chemistry that she has with David Tennant. Whenever they have scenes together, they work so well off of each other. And she kills at riding the line of loving aunt and full on villain who only cares about revenge. She's constantly emotionally manipulative towards Lena. But you feel bad for her when you listen to her tell why she hates Scrooge so much. These two ladies are my absolute favorite characters...AND THEN THERE'S MANNY!
The Moon arc involving the iconic NES song of the same name, in the form of a Mother's Lullaby, was a nice touch.
loved this show. Didn't even expect to like it as much as I did. The "curtain call" in the final episode was really got me emotional.
That curtain call was AMAZING. I almost got teary eyed myself at it.
@@platypusbunneh same, i would never have thought that as an adult that liked the original id be getting emotional at the end of a reboot, let alone a ducktales one
Making Gyro Gearloose "One bad day away from being a supervillain mad scientist" is one of my favourite things.

Really? I thought people hated that change.

I think the Darkwing weird subplot is setting up the reboot for that show. That’s where Negaduck will show up. And that “Let’s get Dangerous” episode felt just like a pilot. So I can’t wait to see what they do with my favorite Disney hero
Hopefully, yes.
I hope so too
I am worried we won't get it. I want more Darkwing.
Nah, what happened with Negaduck is that Frank and his writers felt like he'd need a season to himself but then Disney cancelled it into a three season show.
This is one of those rare occasions where a reboot might actually outdo the original. It was such a great show. It had me hooked from episode one all the way to the end. It's a shame we don't get a 4th season but I will always be thankful for the 3 we did get. Hopefully the Darkwing reboot on Disney + is connected to this because I want to see more of Negaduck.
As someone who grew up watching the original DuckTales, read the comics by Carl Barks and Don Rosa, I can honestly say that 2017 DuckTales, for the most part surpasses the original for all the right reasons. Adding Della Duck and keeping her with the cast was probably the biggest stroke of genius 2017 DuckTales had. This show took risks--hell, even the very idea of rebooting this show was a big risk in and of itself--and they were worth it. It did what a true reboot/remake should do: honor the original, while at the same time bring something new to the table.
I heard originally they wanted this series to be a direct sequel to the original but ditched that to be a standalone canon, which I feel was almost definitely for the best since it means it can be appreciated on its own merits and won't be nitpicked for every deviation it takes from the original (and it definitely feels like they wanted to do things very differently from the first show and even the comics sometimes).
And once again Doug prooves he does'nt pay attention as much as he should, it's clear from the START that Huey Dewey and Louie are different from each other. I don't know what he watched to make him think they all acted the same but that element has always been there and this is strange because he even pointed it out HIMSELF in the first episode's review which makes him hyporitical too but what else is knew.
Can we please take a moment to acknowledge how good Disney Television Animation has been these past years? Everyone will have their personal favorite, but I thought DuckTales (2017) was fantastic, I think Amphibia and The Owl House have both been great, and I have enjoyed The Ghost and Molly McGee thus far.
Going on a decade now
same
I haven't seen most of those, but I find Gravity Falls endlessly rewatchable.
@@DigiRangerScott While Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon have spent the previous decade on a massive decline.
@@avengersfan7735 Well that’s completely untrue. You’re telling me a year into Adventure Time and Regular Show they DECLINED?
At least Webby has a more personality than her original counterpart in the 1st series, where she was just the girly girl. Aside being a fangirl of Scrooge, here, she's an explorer, she's an introvert, she wants to branch out but doesn't know how to do it because she's been sheltered her whole life. She's always quick to act whenever she feels she needs to and is often melodramatic, which makes her come off it's crazy to others at times but she tries her best and she's overall very friendly.
Actually Disney's animation history tends to have a good track record than most for doing 'strong proactive females' that aren't incredibly bland and unfunny or built entirely around undermining the male gender. See Judy Hopps, Rebecca Cunningham, the 1998 Mulan, hell even the original Mrs Beakley was sometimes badass despite her funny dowager personality.
Kind of ironic given Disney's famed for pushing the 'princess' cliche.
Only character I would say they kind of failed on was the original Gandra D from the old Duck Tales. Her personality was pretty.... Bland, and she was obviously only put in as the "hot girlfriend".
@@lootcat1230 Also Gandra didn't really appear that much anyway.
@@e-122psi3 that's true too. I think strong female representation was tried in old Disney, and that should be some credit to them. Only issue I have with the female representation in the new Duck Tales is that all of them try a little too hard to be strong. They're all fearless, better than their male counterparts (in some cases) and none seem to be just... Normal. Normal people. And I think that's what they tried doing with the original Gandra D. She was just.. a regular person.. duck. The new one I don't really care for.
@@lootcat1230 Yeah, I think that issue does still linger a bit (it has for a long time really, the 'male straight man with female butt monkey' dynamic kinda became extinct by the 60s, I think Tale Spin is about the one show to actually play it straight down the middle) but i guess Duck Tales is at least only a relative scale thing, like the girls are somewhat more on-the-nose badass than the boys, but that doesn't mean they're dully flawless and NEVER have any of their own screwups or take part in the antics, nor the boys never have any character development or redeeming qualities, which is what many other franchises do, like 'feminist' writing has to make all girls 'winner incarnate' against a bunch of one-note pathetic male idiots.
Though I admit when I first saw the reboot Mrs Beakley, I just kinda thought "Come on, really?" XD
@@e-122psi3 honestly, I would have accepted either rendition. The original has that charm of a person you know you could rely on, and relax around. She was the figure who could hug you, and make you feel warm. The new one is... Well, she's the bad ass agent with secrets
I really don't understand why Doug says the triplets were very close to being interchangeable in season one. There's literally an episode where they each go off to do their own thing in that season. Shoot, in episode 3, Webbie annoys each of the boys while on a trip to Funzo's but annoys them in different ways that relates to their specific characters. She ignores Huey's rules, ruin's Louie's scheme and erase's Dewey's fame. Another thing is that each season moreso focuses on a specific triplet. Season one is about Dewey, season 2 Lewey, and season 3 Huey.
I 100% agree that they dropped the ball with Negaduck, it was such a perfect setup yet they failed to follow through with it, probably because they were hoping to bring him back in an actual show for Darkwing Duck.
There are a total of 2 cartoons that I give a 10/10 throughout their entire running. Avatar the Last Airbender and this. What Avatar did for western fantasy cartoons, DuckTales 2017 did for cartoon reboots and modern Saturday morning adventure cartoons.
psst... new ducktales video when ? 👀 jk jk lmao. it’s good that everyone in the comments section is agreed upon the negaduck + doug claiming interchangeable triplets points lmao
I disagree with your claim that all the characters start out the same. While they definitely do become more distinct as the show goes on early on I could still tell.
Dewey: Is the most dim witted of the brothers and desire for glory.
Louie: Is more apathetic, lazy, and greedy and would rather simply make money then earn it.
Huey: The responsible one who needs things to make sense and add up
I couldn't believe that they incorporated a song from a 1989 NES game in an epic way, and then turned it into a beautifully sweet plot point. "What Ever Happened to Della Duck!?" indeed...
Now imagine if they made a Gargoyles reboot with this kinda passion. It was trending on twitter when Disney+ first dropped, because so many people had watched it for the first time or millionth time. And a LOT of first timers were so wowed by it. Heck THE CREATOR was so floored by it being trending that he was like "hey maybe if this gets enough traction we could bring this back with today's animation". Hard not to see why. It's the perfect mix of drama and action. Not to mention, Elisa is just such a badass. AND A WOMAN OF COLOR BADASS. Like hello why does no one mention her when talking about strong female characters. Shameful lol. I would love to see Gargoyles get the treatment that DuckTales got. It needs to happen.
Elisa is great, we're just too busy fangirling over Demona...
It would kickass, and dope to see Gargoyles come back ngl. I used to love how dramatic, and intense the show was as kid.
Well, Manny The Horse VA is Golia's
@@rachelespiritu4215 Dude shes a serial killer.
It would be amazing of course, but in the meantime the creator (Greg Weisman) is a developer, writer and producer of Young Justice, which comes highly recommended for the same reasons Gargoyles was great. He also has an animated Catwoman movie coming out that features Gargoyles voice actors Keith David and Jonathan Frakes.
Favorite easter egg is the gargoyle theme and " I live again... again" line in the finale. I started watching gargoyles because of that line. So worth it.
Thoughts: I loved it all the way through, since the announcement of the reboot and i was rewarded as such. I never saw the original because it stopped airing when i was little but i wanted to so bad. I couldn't find it anywhere dubbed in Greek, and when i found it years later dubbed, i thought it was for little kids, being a teenager and such, so i just tossed it aside (big mistake). So when the reboot was announced, it was like a gift for my younger self. I was on board from day one and i got what i asked for and more. I loved how it introduced me to so many amazing characters from all those cartoons i didn't watch as a kid and I loved every minute of them. I started watching gargoyles darkwing duck and the original ducktales because of the reboot, giving my younger self the cartoons he always wanted to watch. It has many reasons to be liked and loved, but the amazing characters both new and old, which me and my younger self watched, are my reason to adore it.
Negaduck was definitely set up for a later episode that just ended up not happening after Disney decided to not renew the show for a fourth season. Some people say that because the show technically wasn't cancelled that means it got to run its full course, but I don't think that's the case. There are plenty of indicators that the third season wasn't originally intended to be the last one, including plot threads just getting dropped. That being said, I think the way they ended the show was the best way they could have done it considering the situation.
I have my own personal complaints regarding the show, especially some of the villains, but overall it did an amazing job of not only paying homage to the original Ducktales and the Carl Barks/Don Rosa comics, but creating an entirely new iteration of the Duck universe that's incredibly rich and vibrant.
Negaduck is a set up for the Darkwing Duck spinoff, not a future episode of Ducktales.
@@LordMoonshadowGaGa Sadly, no. The upcoming Darkwing Duck show is a completely new iteration, with no ties to the 2017 DuckTales. The new Darkwing Duck is made by Seth Rogen's production company, the same people who did Sausage Party and are also producing the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie, so none of the people who worked on DuckTales are involved.
@@tehdipstick from what I read, it's uncertain whether this series is in continuity or not
I'm positive Negaduck didnt return because the drama with Jim Cummings two years ago scared them away from using him again. Additionally I've heard that Cummings was really upset they recast Darkwing and weren't going to use him anymore. I dont believe the story that there just wasn't time.
In a time where a reboot either tries so hard they miss the intention of the original or try so little that it comes off as Titans Go (some say it’s gotten better over time, but I’m not going to try and dive back in any time soon), Ducktales nails that sweet spot near perfectly.
Not only for it to be it’s own thing while capturing what made the original great, but also how it feels like it is a tribute for old fans who grew up watching the Disney shows. If we consider shows like Gravity Falls and Avatar to be some of the best shows of the modern time (or I guess what we would have called modern back when they came out), Ducktales is the approach that should be taken when you want to do a reboot series.
I agree about Dewey and Webby. Them forming a secret pact to find Dewey's mom was a special part of the first season that didn't carry over. Too many characters I guess.
I actually think that Disney are at their best when it comes to animation. I really hope that Doug gets around to reviewing "Owl House" one day.
They really are when it comes to animation.
Maybe after the show wraps up he will!
And amphibia
Maybe he could do it next Disneycember if the season 3 specials are released by then.
i finished watching this show a while back and the first thing i wanted to do was rewatch it all again
There was actually meant to be a fourth season, they had to pack a lot of the stuff into the third season instead because executive meddling.
While I did like the series finale, I really feel like it should have focused more on Huey. I'm guessing the Webby reveal was supposed to be for the series finale and that's why Huey's arc got pushed to the side.
After some time has passed, I think that DuckTales should have had at least one more season.
While there were parts that I liked I definitely felt like season 3 was a bit of a jumbled mess, trying to stuff too much into too little. I was particularly miffed when Huey got shafted to the side since he's gotten the least story in the series.
It took almost 90 years to learn who their mother is. Now it'll take 90 years to learn who their father is.
I think we can all agree this is the standard all reboots should be set at
This is honestly my favorite show of all times. It's so good! The last scene in "The Last Crash of the Sunchaser" and the beginning of "Nothing Can Stop Della Duck" always make me tear up.
I disagree a bit, Louie was always lazier than the rest, wanted to be rich and wanted no responsibility. Dewey always wanted more attention, always wanted adventure and always wanted to be praised. And Huey was always the bookworm, always wanted to follow the rules and was always stubborn about doing things his way, while always having an answer.
So, no, the boys were different from the start.... and their hobbies did show their differences.
They just delved into it more in later seasons... but the boys were always different....
And it's less that I dislike the Webbie ending and more that I wish they teased it more early on.... like, it felt like it was out of nowhere.... we never felt like there was more to Webby's backstory other than maybe dead parents or something...
And the ending didn't actually explain much because it was already shown early on that Webby was obsessed with Scrooge because she had an over protective grandma and was always stuck inside a house so her main entertainment was stories about Scrooge, and her first friends were Scrooge's nephews....
And also the fact that she felt lonely and had no other family, but because she lacked the blood bond, the only way she felt she could fit in was by learning the McDuck stories...
This! All of this! 100%
Hell right there is the first episode:
Webby: Whose the evil one?
Huey and Dewey: Louie.
Louie: Meh.
They edited that segment from Season 1, where Scrooge states that Webby isn't part of the family, while Doug tells how her early quirks build up for something. I see what you did there!
I really liked how this reboot gave nods to the comic book side of things.
I absolutely love this show.
They covered Dewey and Webbie's falling apart in the Game Night episode. They had a no-holds-bar approach to adventure that gave them some common ground at first, but asked to do anything else together and they had trouble interpreting the other's intentions. Leading them to separate a bit and play off of others.
I absolutely LOVE this show! For me at least, it's one of the best modern Disney Channel cartoons.
Fun fact: When I was little my parents had my triplet brothers and I be the exact same color coding of red, blue, and green. Watching the original show when I was little did have me relate to them that way.
The Disney Afternoon reboot! And that theme song: “it’ll never leave!”
I loved this series! Clever, creative, comedic, chock full of great characters. Della Duck is my absolute favorite animated mom.
The only thing that truly sucks about this show is trying to recommend it to my friends. A kid's show called "Ducktales" is a hard sell for other 25 year old men. :L
The song that is cursed to stay in Doug's head forever XD
5:11
Who would've thought that by guessing the names of the triplets correctly would be an indication of a good reboot/show
I went to Disney this September and our room was DuckTales themed. It was adorable!
I love this! Watching Critic’s take on the pilot episode years ago got me interested in watching this show in the first place. Now Im so happy this year to see him give the whole show a review! Thanks, Critic!
I really enjoyed this show, but I think my biggest problem with it was how one-note most of the characters were. After watching an episode for a few minutes, it was pretty easy to predict how each of them was going to respond to the situation and what their "arc" for that episode was gonna be. But then the characters wouldn't really change and grow over the course of the show, at least not compared to other modern Disney shows like The Owl House or Amphibia. But didn't bother me too much, because their personalities were still strong, and it was entertaining watching them interact off each other. It felt like the show mostly prioritized being an exciting adventure with fun characters over being anything super deep or insightful (though they definetly had those moments as well, especially whenever Della was involved), and I think they definetly succeeded with that vision.
Also, in regards to the Negaduck tease, one of the writers for the show said that they tried squeezing him somewhere into the Darkwing Duck special, but they decided he deserved his own separate episode. But then the show wasn't gonna be renewed for a fourth season, so they had to quickly wrap everything up and didn't get a chance to use him. But there is gonna be a Darkwing Duck reboot on Disney+ (though it hasn't been confirmed if it's gonna tie into this DuckTales universe), so we might see him there
Very good points about Della, I loved the show before she showed up but she really did improve it by a lot.
Anyone who knows me knows this already, but I have to say it again. DuckTales 2017 is my favorite show of all time.
The Moon arc involving the iconic NES song of the same name, in the form of a Mother's Lullaby, was a nice touch.
Glomgold really held the first season up for me. His greek tragedy of humor was almost always funny and different from the rest.
A big part of me is really sad that Alan Young couldn't reprise his role as Scrooge McDuck as he was the one I grew up with. But honestly, I can't think of a better successor than David Tennant. Seriously, the entire voice cast in this reboot was amazing and I'm happy the triplets got their own voices.
Also, I was laughing my head off when I realised Magica was being played by Catherine Tate because I knew the moment Magica encountered Scrooge we were in for a treat. Catherine Tate and David Tennant are always hilarious together and honestly need their own comedy show.
Alan Young is definitely my favorite voice actor for Scrooge as well. I was incredibly sad when I found out he'd passed. That being said, I think David Tennant is perfect for this particular version of Scrooge.
I agree about Della. Best character. But also, the way she would get angry, and her reactions, made her genuinely feel like Donald Duck's sister. And I mean the whole Donald duck package, not just the DuckTales version.
Probably one of the only truly good animated reboots In recent memory
As someone who grew up on the classic cartoon, this one is leagues ahead of it imo
I really hope that Disney continues to use these versions of Huey, Dewey and Louie in the future; maybe if Legend of the Three Caballeros gets a second season?
Definitely
It would be cool if Della got used in future “Mickey and Friends” media, most likely not as big as the big four but a smaller secondary character position like Ludwig Von Drake or Pete
Hey! Someone else actually talked Legend of the Three Caballeros! I watched that on Disney+ and was surprised that no one has really brought it up before. It's a fun series!
I doubt very much that will happen. The classic versions of Huey, Dewey and Louie are too iconic to be replaced with the Ducktales 2017 version with which you have a few problems. No, those versions of HDL Duck in Ducktales 2017 were good, but there was a bad development of their characteristics, also their voices absolutely do not correspond to their age. With that change, they would lose what HDL was created for, to be together, and so is their gag.
I know that many will not like this, but the original HDL is better for me, because at least there is not so much focus on them, and they were very naughty and smart boys who often agree and quarrel, but eventually reconcile. I agree that the Legend of the Three Caballeros should get the second season, but I doubt very much that it will happen. Of course, this is just my opinion.
@@typemasters2871 Della can’t be in the rank of Ludwig or Pete, and even if they used her, they would probably use her comic book version. In addition, Pete is a much more significant character and the main villain.
Also a fifth season of Star VS The Forces of Evil
I always remembered:
Dewey is blue, like water. Dew is water.
Louie is green, like the gardens of Versailles. The French had many kings named Louis.
Huey is the other one.
That's actually a pretty good way to remember them. :)
Can we also acknowledge the huge star talent that they got for this show?
David Tennant, Danny Pudi, Ben Schwartz, Bobby Moynihan, Kate Micucci, Beck Bennett, Catherine Tate, Don Cheadle, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Stephanie Beatriz, & many more!
Giancarlo Esposito, Amy Sedaris, Jim Rash, Paget Brewster, Jason Mantsoukas, Marc Evan Jacobs, Jaime Camill, Kimiko Glenn, I can go on for a while.
I love this show. And I looked forward to see you cover Tangled: The Series.
Doug flexing on us being able to tell Huey, Dewey, and Louie apart.
It's so rare to hear critics say "Wow this was really good!"
I'm so glad I can enjoy a lot of things to a better degree than that.
My absolute favorite moment from the series is when Della finally makes it home and you just see all the reactions. Scrooge is so caught up he drops a precious tool meant to help with his greatest adventure onto the ground where it shatters and he barely notices as he goes to hug his long lost niece finally found and each of the boys come to grips with the return of their mother and it's so beautifully sweet.
How the heck did Doug watch the theme song for every episode without his ears falling off? He's a beast.
Simple, he hit the skip intro button
My wife made me listen to it every time. For some reason she hard core loved this version.
Yes!! He's finally covering it! It's such a good show.
He did cover the pilot, praising it quite a lot. That's what got me into watching it.
@@leovk5779 I kinda wished he covered the original first, but I don't mind.
I want a Glomgold boss fight in Kingdom Hearts because it will be GLORIOUS to constantly abuse him and interrupt his inevitable maniacal laughter. Abusing Glomgold with a giant pirate ship, Ultimate Form, Rage Form, or a giant flaming Simba. Make it happen Square
This reboot was one of the best and I'm glad I watched it.
"Let's Get Dangerous" was honestly my favorite episode of the show. Loved this reboot so much!
This reboot is one of the best out there, up there with Danger Mouse.
THANK GOD I thought I was alone on the whole Gosalyn thing. Yeah Gosalyn is seriously the best in the og Darkwing series, but here,, I liked her fine but I would always forget she’s Gosalyn. Her attitude, her voice, her personality doesn’t make me think she’s Gosalyn, she just reminds me of all these other independent kid characters who are semi serious yet like to be all sarcastic I already see in other cartoons.
I love love LOVE this show!
I had no idea I was going to get into it, then my boyfriend just kept gushing about it and when I finally got onto Disney+ and watched during lockdown, I was blown away and honestly, doesn't matter how many times you binge on it, it just makes you laugh in the same place, binge on it now and then and not on repeat, keep the laughs fresh.
I love everything, absolutely EVERTYTHING about this show. The stories, the adventures, the action, the drama, the humor, the comedy, the voiceacting, the characters (most of them), the callbacks, the references, the satire, the music, the emotions, it's just brilliant! Honestly, it deserves more love.
I love this show including the della reunion episodes
DANG IT DOUG!!!! You had to show the curtain call to the final episode. I'm crying over here 😭 I love this series so much. I love the original Ducktales as well, but THIS ONE!!! Good God, man, a reboot done right. So right! It broke my heart when they announced the final season. But I'm still super glad that I saw it and it made cry and smile at the same time. Ducktales 2017 will always be like an epic journey you've gone on with people you grew to care about and the memories will last forever. With the McDucks around, it will always be one hell of ride.
My single favorite moment of this show,
Flintheart at Scrooge's funeral
I fell outta my seat laughing
But seriously love this show and literally my biggest complaint is Launchpad's hat,
Had he had his classic aviator cap, he wouldn't have wasted so much time telling everyone he was a pilot
Did anyone else who watched this series laugh waaaaaay too hard at Gyro's realization that Louie can impersonate Huey?
"Red Nephew. Red Nephew? [*gasps*] GREEN NEPHEW!" will never not be funny to me.
I'm a Dewey Duck fan for life. I usually dislike characters that demand to be the center of attention, but Dewey was actually so soft and sweet under all that bravado that he's just so dear to my heart now.
One of my favorite things about this reboot is that they got David Tenant to do Scrooge
This show was the ultimate tribute to the Disney Afternoon
When compared to the original it was more episodic than a storyarc In my opinion but both are good
It's CAT-TALES! WHOO WHO!
Lloyd: "With the residuals from my web-series, we can go on adventures."
Chaplin: "Oh Boy! Are we gonna find buried treasure?"
Lloyd: "Close. It's the catnip Snob keeps."
They did it, they actually did it, they made a good reboot to a cartoon! I mean we all know how most reboots are so it very nice to see one that put forth some actual effort into its story and characters instead of relying on stupid humor. I knew of the original Ducktales of course but my viewing of it I think was limited to the movie it had as the series was over when I was pretty young.
I really liked ll the references to other shows in this, Darkwing duck would have the most obvious, but there also references to:
Goof Troop as Goofy appeared in one episode and mentioned max
Gummy Bears: the theme song to it was said by one of minor villains in an episode
Talespin- Kit shows up in an episode
Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers- they show up in another episode
Yeah, most of them were references or one-off appearances but it’s still nice to see that Disney acknowledged the shows exitance, and maybe we could get reboots of those shows in the future, cause that would be awesome, and as long as they are handled with the same respect as this show was given I foresee them doing well.
I liked how the updated the characters. Huey, Dewey, and Louie aren’t just copies of each other with a different colored shirt, they have their own personalities, webby isn’t just “the girl” she a fun energetic character whom the boys (and the fans) like a lot more the then in the original.
Della is actually present, and her disappearance is explained in heartbreaking detail, she not just an absent mom
I guess I would have like to know who Huey’s, Dewey’s, and Louie’s dad was but let’s face it he was never that important even in the comics.
So yeah, if it isn’t already apparent that show is awesome, the theme song is awesome, the characters are awesome, the plot is awesome, the humor is good, just nearly everything about it is done do perfection.
Go watch this masterpiece if you haven’t already
I loved this show I had legit tears watching the clips you played
Awesome to see you like the show. If you like this show, I’d recommend Owl House and Amphibia when they conclude next year. They are made by Gravity Falls Alumni. It’s pretty good and I think right up your alley
I watched those shows and they are great along with Gargoyles.
"Chances are, you're like me, and could never tell them apart." Or, possibly, you simply can't memorize a three-item list.
I still prefer the original, but this reboot is pretty good (even if it’s not perfect).
Ducktales was the reason I got back into disney channel and so far it has not disappointed.
I love this show! I never watched the original Ducktales (I wasn't even born then), but even with the callbacks and references, I really liked that I still understood the show and what's happening. It's not just for old fans, it's for the new generation to enjoy as well. Although it's not perfect, this is a reboot, no, a SERIES done right. The jokes, the adventure, the emotion... it's all there and there was never a dull moment watching this series.
The animation also deserves some appreciation. Every shot looks like a comic book and the movements are always so smooth! Especially Louie, for some reason, is animated really well and it's just so good to look at.
It’s a real shame this series only got 3 seasons but I think the first season really hurt it’s opportunity of being a smash hit
There's a recurring joke where there's an adventure in the background or with a minor character that we don't get to see that I wish we had seen and it gets old quickly in my opinion, but that's my only real issue with the series.
I loved this show, but it was trying too hard to create a "Disney Afternoon Cinematic Universe."
Part of the disconnect of the universe is they went in trying to tie it all together mcu style for spinoffs which did not take place and the series was not renewed after Season 3. So the creators were forced to tie it up as best as possible and let it go until the next group of creators picks it up again to run with it in the future.
On the 9th Disneycember, the critic gave to me:
Why is this cancelled?!
Another Kingdom Hearts game
Generic Disney movie
Marvel vs. COVID
RYAN FUCKING REYNOLDS!
Why does this exist?
Recent Disney classic
Better than the prequels
And a popular game with lots of sequels!
👍👍👍💯💯💯💯
I just realized that Disneycember has become one of my most anticipated Xmas traditions, so thank you for that! :)
Hard to bring characters back later on when the show gets cancelled... Definitely one of the all time best reboots ever.
Huey has a hat and the hue is red. -Della Duck. She became my favorite on the show.
I actually love the Duck Tales remake, I feel like Webby got a HUGE upgrade in character. She went from my least favorite in the original to my absolute favorite in the remake.
Next to Gravity Falls I'd find the 2017 DuckTales series to be my close second favorite Modern Day Disney Cartoon to watch and re-watch on Disney+
Yeah, Steelbeak and Mark Beaks are two worst villians for me. I wasn't crazy that Glomgold isn't this clever mastermind he was in the comics or the old show (like he dosen't felt like a treat to Scrooge and just this harmless imbecil Scrooge has to tolerate) but... Ah, at the end of the day he made me laugh. I wish they would use Rockerduck more since he felt tad more competent as Scrooges buisness rival (which was his role in the comics).
I thought his backstory was hilarious, seriously I think if they hadn't made him the show's version of Glomgold and just went with the idea this super petty crazy kid who thought he was Scrooge's arch nemesis and stalked and annoyed him with absolutely dumb revenge schemes, that could have been genius.
@@e-122psi3 His backstory was one of few things I did like about their version of the character.
