The muppet trembling after the beat down made this sketch very memorable.
Right 😂😂
That's what I thought too! Like holy hell that's some good puppeteering (sp?) lol
The eyes swollen shut did it for me. I almost cried of laughter. 🤣🤣🤣
Yep, 3:20 was epic for sure.

Kermit did the scrunch face!

@@trevorhegstrom2816 NO, Kramert did the scrunch face! LOL
Whoever puppeteered Statler and Waldorf should get an award. If you can make Keenan break you're good at your job. Master puppetry and acting!

Who the heck is "Keenan"?
@Jon Hohensee
You serious?
@@beatnikmary Yep. Do you know?
@@beatnikmaryI think (based on the fact it's in quotation marks) he's referring to the fact the commenter misspelled his name, that's all.
Kermit's silent reactions when he's called a dragon and then Kramer are brilliant - perfect homage to Henson!
I totally disagree, Henson and SNL have a bad history, the Henson company worked on the Land of Gorch sketches years ago and hated it and were thankful to pull out thanks to a contract change to another network
They even got that Kermit scrunching up his mouth thing that he always does.
Who voiced Kermit? And which actors did all the puppeteering?
@@sulleycunningham3850 The Muppets didn't really have such a bad history; their comedy style just didn't blend well with SNL's, and both Henson and the writers knew it. They seemed to really enjoy performing the Gorch characters, especially Jerry Nelson as Scred.
When Kermit first dropped his species was a mystery!
whoever worked the balcony muppet on the right as he recovered from the beating deserves an Emmy
And the Emmy goes to...
Muppet on the Right for his role on SNL as “Puppet getting beat up”
It's beck
@@rockon772 Just the voice, not the puppeteer
The one on the left witnessing the state of his buddy deserves a prize too
i could not agree more. I was fine until he came up.
Kenan almost lost it 1:50 when Key called Kermit "little dragon" 🤣
He did break @ 3:10
I love Kenan way too much ever since I was a kid
Back when Nickelodeon was too much on SpongeBob.
Kenan always has that little smirk on his face like he's about to laugh at his own jokes... This time he lost it 🤣

The swollen eyes of the puppet on the left and how his hand is trembling when he's trying to get back up is hilarious. Best sketch in a long time.

You know you're an SNL legend when you make Kenan break
Not really. Kenan has that stupid smirk on his face in every skit. He's always on the verge of breaking.
Beavis and Butthead skit was not any different
I like how Keegan had a lisp at first then forgot about it LMAO I love that dude
Take a bunch of kids who grow up watching and loving the Muppet Show, practiced the voices for decades and finally got to do them as grown ups on the big stage, it was a labor of love. Well done

@@pattyayers And probably Muppets Tonight, which isn't as beloved as The Muppet Show, but did have its moments (the only episodes I remember is the one Prince did back when he was known as The Artist Formerly Known as Prince and the Rick Moranis episode, which came a year or so before he quit showbiz to care for his kids after his wife died).

The "I'm sorry I didn't know y'all were veterans" line was so stupid but so good lmao
It was dark humor.
****You mean SNL, Keegan-Michael Key, and Muppets crossover
I was at a local concert once for veterans and they asked all who served to stand up and when I tell you they were all in wheelchairs and with canes 😩 the look of horror from the woman onstage made it hysterical
I lost it at that point, there was no coming back 😂
As a kid growing up watching the muppets I absolutely could not control my laughter and joy while watching this skit. However, the "joke" about veterans hurt my heart and thought it was insensitive. Comedy pushes boundaries but this was too far for me.
Kermit's face when he gets called a dragon is brilliant 😂
It’s his iconic “scrunch face”.
Fun Fact: He’s able to do that, because the head is just basically the puppeteer’s hand. No foam at all. In the words of Jim Henson, Kermit is basically a “glorified sock puppet”.
"You are more than welcome to leave...YOU ARE MORE...THAN WELCOME....TO LEAVE!" 🤣😂🤣😂
I’m going to say this to my tinder dates when their Uber is outside waiting 🙃
Keegan definitely started with a lisp and ended as an anger translator 😂

Old dudes on the balcony was my reason to watch the Muppets show. The sarcasm was perfect and enjoyable on many levels as a kid.
Statler and Waldorf!!!
"Y'all gonna learn." Watched this a million times and still cry-laughing.
I’m not sure why but I found the part where Key was saying “You are more than welcome to leave!” hilarious.
Laraine Newman (one of the original SNL cast members) tweeted that this was one of the funniest sketches she's seen on the show, and I agree with her.
Waldorf, no puns, just "YOUR FRIEND IS INSANE, BY THE WAY" completely broke me.
That was the line where I realized it was Mikey, that inflection on insane

@@Mega_Mikey Who's Kermit?
the muppet trembling and putting his hand over his mouth in fear while his friend is getting beat up is oddly hilarious
It's a classic Muppet move...
I never paid much attention to the old white men heckling up in the VIP box, but I did get satisfaction seeing rudeness and arrogance get what they deserve, regardless of who they are or think they are. The shaking and black eyes were an outrageous parody and update that were shockingly funny for adult humor. We wont show our young children this skit.
I legit felt bad for him here. The first punch was funny, but then it just kept going. When you combine it with Stadler’s quiet shaking in horror, it was just... not good.
It reminded me of Anthony Peter Coleman and his puppet, "Tony". "No one was laughing in Grenada...."
No it wasn't.
"You are more....than welcome...to leave." I'm done 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Melissa really is a gem. That Lily Tomlin impression was so spot on.
Keegan was made for SNL - hopefully this is his first of many times on the show!

As a massively huge fan of Statler and Waldorf for as long as I've been alive, I wholeheartedly approve of this sketch. 😂 😂 😂
Thank you for this comment because I couldn’t remember Statler’s name and it was driving me barmy! I knew they were both named after NYC hotels (I think?) but the only one I could think of was the Waldorf Astoria and I knew his pal was Waldorf!

I have watched this skit several times and each time I laugh out loud. It is too perfect. Kenan Thompson and Keegan-Michael Key are hysterical. The lines they have are brilliant. And when that puppet comes up with bruises, I'm lost.
It always impresses me how much emotional control Keegan has simply over his voice alone.
As a child of that generation and never missed the show - yeah, I always felt bad for whoever had to clean that mess up. But can we mention how Lily Tomlin is exactly the guest that the Muppet Show would have? This skit was immaculate on every level. The attention to detail was unreal.

@@ran52475 From Wikipedia:
"The Land of Gorch was a recurring adult puppetry skit that appeared in the first season of the American comedy television program Saturday Night Live, featuring Jim Henson's Muppets.
His characters appeared regularly on the late-night comedy television program. After Sesame Street, Henson feared he would become typecast into working on children's television series. His talent agent Bernie Brillstein, who represented Gilda Radner, Dan Aykroyd, John Belushi, and Lorne Michaels helped him transition to Saturday Night Live."
