Why I (mostly) only throw Innova discs

- Let me STOP you from commenting now what you were gonna say: this is not a RECOMMENDATION VID, this is ME, sharing with YOU, how I think about discs. That being said, I urge you to watch it :)
Will I love discraft next year? Move down to Texas and start throwing some Lone Star Discs? Quite mabily. But for now, I'm more focused on playing (and Vlogsmas) than I am switching discs, so here we are.
Boom.

DAY 18/25, WE'RE GETTING CLOSE
For sure! Definitely something newer players have a hard time understanding… I feel like after exploring discs for 4-5 years you really start finding what you love and stick to them… so in 3-4 years they will understand when they feel the same way about their Graces, Evaders, Athena’s, and Eras!
And while a lot of people love exploring new discs (me being one of them, hence all my disc reviews 😂) others love grinding, getting better, and competing! And to do that best you need to find what discs fit your game and stick to those and ignore the rest…
^^^This is exactly the point!!! And you can very well grind and get better simultaneously while exploring new discs as well, it just all depends on what your interests are! Thanks for watching :)
I see Dave playing at the local courses here in SoCal all the time. And then he’ll just chill in the parking lot near his Sienna with some friends for hours. That guy is just living life man. Love to see it
I think, starting out as a much younger man, Innova had the coolest stamps and names and that was really attractive. It's like any relationship, looks has a lot to do with it. After youve learned the discs, grown to love them It's really hard to change. Now in my 40s, 90% ot my bag is still Innova. I've tried a lot of other disc brands, but always go back to trusty old Innova. Not to mention they still have the best discs. You can't deny they make some excellent plastic.
For me it's availability. I'll always be able to get a replacement Aviar, Aviar3, AviarX3, Rhyno, Pig, Mako3, Shark3, Roc3, Leopard, Hawkeye, TL, TeeBird, etc. I already have multiples of many of them just as a matter of playing the game for a few years now, so I also have backups handy. Also in my experience the ones I've bought have been a) true to their numbers and b) largely consistent. And where there is some variability, I've been able to buy versions of these discs in different runs or plastics to fill those slots. Lastly most people I talk with know these discs by name and what they generally do. That doesn't mean I avoided other discs and used them from time to time, but what I take with me out on the course are standard-issue Innova discs and it's been great.
I agree, innova is so good, so affordable, and so available. My form is the most important part of my progress. Constitacy plays a big part. A beast, a roc3, and an aviar is a I really use. I own alot, innova gives me all tools I need. Ps my buzzz is pretty cool too.
Same here. They also have the best names. Someone will show me a new other brand disc and I will ask how does it fly? And usually they will compare it to a well-known Innova mold. I do like a good Buzz or Nuke though 🤔
Innova sign this man!
^^^
I agree with you on the history of discs. Innova discs are the only ones I will continue to try to learn and throw even if they arent working for me at that time since I know so many amatuers and pros have used them and it just makes me more confident and comfortable on the course.
That said they lack a good workhorse mid and throwing putter in my opinion. I use a Compass and Pa3 alongside Gator, Mako3, and Alpaca.
Champion and blizzard champion plastics are my favorites!
I will say Innova star plastic is still some of the best plastic out there
Definitely gotta be my favorite I’ve thrown
I still have 2 out of the 3 Innova discs I bought in 1983. An ex gf lost 1, the original Roc, so I would still have them all. I have 25 Innova , 6 not .
I'll be honest, I'm not that familiar with Innova. I've only thrown 3 or 4 of their molds. This changed yesterday. I played in a tournament that was sponsored by Innova, and ended up coming 2nd place which granted me an $88 voucher to the on-site store. With that plus the $20 player's pack disc, I ended up with a Star Roadrunner, a Star TL, a Jennifer Allen Halo Roc3, and finally a Garrett Gurthie Halo Wraith. I have yet to try these discs out, but the Halo both looks and feels amazing, so I think I will become somewhat of an Innova fan.
I own most Innova and 2nd Discraft. Hard to beat Star plastic, and ESP plastic.
Love my r pro Pig, then Stars Wraith, Leopard, Sidewinder, Mystere, Roadrunner, Beast, and KC Pro Avair.
Innova is probably my favorite too but there are a couple flights from other brands that Innova doesn't have unfortunately, my favorite is ⭐ mako3 for shortish technical wooded holes and G⭐ Daedalus for hyzer flip and anhyzer distance shots.
I started playing again a few months ago after a 10 year break and I got my first ace today with my Mako3 since I started playing again, baby anhyzer to flat release dead straight through 3 guardian trees 5-10' before the basket with only 1½' or less gap it was incredible with about 50% skill 50% luck.
For those of us struggling to build a mostly one manufacturer bag, you've given us lots to think about! I love throwing different molds but it kinda boils down to 'time management'
Forsure!! And you can practice and get better while learning new molds, it just depends on what you like to do!
the Halo Star Destroyer you gotta try it man.. i used to be all regular Star Destroyer then i tried the Halo and i was sold.. it flies like a sliiiiiiiightly best in Star Destroyer so good oh and it holds that stability vs getting understable over time seems like to me
I’ve tried halo destroyers and wraiths, I tend to like when discs beat up quicker so that’s why I stick with star for the most part!
I throw whatever I can get my hands on. Started this because I had a generic starter set and would lose them all the time. Found so many discs in the woods and that's what built my collection. I really don't have a preference lol
I love that too, that’s almost exactly how I started and got to know innova’s stuff!!
I started and have stuck with Innova… too confusing to jump ship… I hope to throw every mold eventually
Right, had I started with a different company I would still probably throw the same ones 😂
hi there, did your wlogmas stop at 12 ?
btw thx for your content 👍
As an exclusive Innova guy, I approve this message. Can’t beat the classics in performance, price, and availability. Plus, for all the hate Innova gets they still seem to be the company leading the industry (e.g. orbit from Trilogy wouldn’t exist without the forerunner that is Halo).
What's funny to me is I can find other manufacturers discs that fly more like an Innova mold than 2 discs of the same Innova mold, due to inconsistency of run and wear. I don't think the logic holds up tbh.
Good point!
Well said!
I appreciate this video.
I appreciate you watching this video!!
I don’t like how Innova locks down USDGC so that coverage is pay per view, and not available to others for months. So I’m not buying Innova. Petty? maybe. But it is what it is.
Inova makes the gator so I’m here for it
Omg integrosity i watch you all on twitch.tv/integrosity all the time!!!
Nothing but respect for bbd
Innova lifer over here too.
Love it!!
I throw only discmania discs👌💪
They have awesome stuff!!
How would this be controversial?
And yet Innova is the worse at telling their customer base they changed their plastic formula. If you lose a 4 yr old Innova you will not find a replacement. Enjoy your search.
Thumbs up to help the channel but couldn’t disagree more with this take.
Thanks for the support! :)
This take? He continually said this works for me if this doesn’t work for you that’s fine. It’s not really a take when someone says this is my preference.
I can’t believe you won’t even try another disc manufacturer. That makes me so angry that I may have to unsubscribe because you should buy new discs every day because new discs will make you play better and innova sucks because there’s so many other discs out there that are better and I just can’t agree with your logic that you simply want to throw discs that you like and know best. Grrr I’m so mad at you Bens Big Drive I will always throw a mixed bag and you can’t stop me
LUCAS PLEEEASE DON’T LEAVE ME, I CAN’T GO ON WITHOUT YOU 😭🥺😩😭😢🙈🙉😭😭😭
Oh and I forgot to say how many times I CRINGED watching this thinking about only throwing one disc type. I cringe whenever I watch the pros play because I know they are only throwing one manufacturer and that makes me cringe
@@BensBigDrive ok fine I’ll unsubscribe then resubscribe
@@ldmcavoy I’ll delete the 30% of my channel you’re in
A bit cringe. I throw some Innova molds but can’t understand for a second why you would not consider the work of other great designers.
Using the word cringe to describe the situation is cringe. The entire video is the rational behind the decision. At the end of the day it's the golfer not the disc.
I’ve been watching Ben for a while, but hearing him talk like an Innova shill made me want to unsubscribe right away.
Why is the aardvark so reluctant??
@@ReluctantAardvark bet you won’t
