Carly was performing on Martha’s Vineyard where she lives. She is originally from NYC. She is a famous singer-songwriter from the 1970’s and was once married to James Taylor. She wrote Nobody Does It Better which was the theme song for the James Bond movie The Spy Who Loved Me.
ha! yes she provided a vibe for many of us back in the day. Love the oceanside concert, always cringe thinking about that salty sea air on the instruments.
Ah yes, Carly Simon is one the finest singer songwriters to emerge in the early 70s. Won the Grammy for Best New Artist in '71 for her second album and single, "Anticipation". Her genre is pop rock, adult contemporary, easy listening. She did a James Bond movie (The Spy Who Loved Me) title song, Nobody Does It Better, and won a Golden Globe! Check out her hit duet w then hubby James Taylor, "Mockingbird". It's a fun energetic live performance.
Only verse 2 is about Beatty, Carly said the other verses are about different suitors yet she's never told them and never will. Though Beatty thinks y the entire song is about him. 😂
Perspective of location and time. I thought this was done on the beaches of the Hamptons of Long Island, but I'll accept this is Martha's Vineyard. It's a jet setting crowd and I wouldn't be surprised if this were a fund raiser with high prices for tickets to be there. Saratoga is down the road from where I grew up so the horseracing that's done there has always brought be back home. April 10, 1972 a solar eclipse took place and the only place to view it was Nova Scotia so that became part of the song as she released it later that same year. I was 7 at the time.
Definitely. Everything about this song and concert is seriously rich people stuff. Exclusive setting, high-dollar audience, and the lyrics, all sung by a descendant of the Simon & Schuster publishing fortune. This is how the other half lives.
My fave song
Carly Simon is excellent!! good selection my brother

Back in the day, a lot of people used to do radio dedications of this song to other people.

When this came out years ago, there were so many questions about which singer, movie star or boyfriend she was singing about😅
❤ her, good reaction!
❤
I believe she revealed who it was about to someone who donated a large sum to charity.
Warren Beatty

@@bearballin yes, you’re more eloquent and accurate:)
You should react to Deftones - My Own Summer. Imagine R&B vocals with heavy metal behind it. Unique stuff
Carly Simon - You're So Vain is the correct title of the song :)
Lol yeah I was half sleep posting this late😂😅
Thank you for correcting me
