My mom did not play about that she Always said don't eat everybody neckbones you turn them things over and check them out if that bone ain't scraped out leave em in that pot!!😁 Shout out to you Ms Chris 👌🏽
Ms.Chris I'm a new viewer would like to thank you for your show on neckbones and how to clean them I would be at my sink for hours cleaning neckbones many peoples say they wash their real good then cook em' I couldn't do that thanks for showing me a better way. Thanks again
I used to enjoy meals like that too when my mom cooked it. LOVED having the pot liquor on my cornbread! It was so good. I also enjoyed putting hot sauce on my neckbones and a little bit on my potatoes.
Hey Chris, my mother made this because we loved it! She just use fresh neckbones cleaned, whole sliced onions, and potatoes. She would cook down then add potatoes and it would make its own gravy or sauce thick enough and then the cornbread, sliced onions, sliced cucumber, sliced tomatoes, and vinegar. My mom was from Arkansas! This made me want to get some and cook before new years! Thank you !
Hi Chris I cooked this meal today for my hubby I followed it just like you did and it turned out delious. Thanks for another awesome meal. Happy hubby. Its his favorite.
We call the juice from anything pot liquor just about. Sooo good. This looks delicious. I had some that a coworker brought. Her mother made it. It was the best thing I've ever eaten. 😀
I love watching you ! You remind me of my nanny my momnas best friend . When I was little she took me everywhere with her a lot of people would look at us strangely because she 8s a black woman with a white child she would always laugh what those people were thinking. I never looked at her differently i didn't know what color was anyways she always ask me what can momna Lois cook for you my baby I love her cooking and you remind me of her so much and cook like her. I have learned from her and you homecooking from 5he south hope you have a wonderful and blessed weekend and stay safe and well
Yes I grew up eating this dish my grandmother and my mother both cook neck bones potatoes and onions and I cook it as well so yes it's a flavorful dish easy and delicious but thank you Chris for sharing it because there's some people that don't know about it but I'm like you I'm like I'm from the old school old school and God bless you sis
Wow all these years i have been cooking neck bones i been cleaning them without boiling them first by taking a knife cutting that stuff out then boil a little and go back over them when i could have boil them at one time and clean them fast and the easy way thanks Chris my husband clean some the other day took him 3 hours to clean 3 pkgs getting that stuff out and off will pass it on to him eat neck bones and potatoes in my house all the time with corn bread some times greens on the side that shore look good have to try that H pepper can' t spell it but knowing you Chris you know what i am talking about.
I bet back in the day the poor folk did not take that fat out. They liked the taste. I remember that people boiled it a few minutes and skimmed the residue that came to the top of the water off. Today the price of neck bones is not cheap.
What fresh neck bones or smoke i use smoke for greens beans fresh for the pot Chris fix or bake them smother down with onions green peppers celery and some more seasons.
I really don't like it because basically when I do my neck bones and white potatoes and bell pepper and onions I do smoke beef neck bones and I do smoke ribs in there and I add string beans to it and whole stupid things and onions and bell pepper and I make a whole pan of homemade cornbread I miss you I got my garlic my onion powder my Lowry seasoning my accent my black pepper my bell peppers my onions my whole stew tomatoes from the can I like to use fresh picked string beans and red skin potatoes or Idaho potatoes but I do minds very different from hers I do the first boil after hour I wrench and then add fresh water then I cut my white potatoes up over there and add my whole can of string beans with the juice and everything but sometimes I just cook my neck bones the white potato string bean and chicken broth is very good that way too everybody got their own way of cooking and I do my homemade cornbread but yeah I know about the pot liquor but I don't I think it's probably taste good but I just then I don't too much care for the way she prepared it not saying nothing bad but I'm from Chicago and we prepared neck bones and white potatoes differently other than that thanks for the wonderful video 🤔👌🏾💯
I lived in Chicago for 40 yrs and there is no standard that you need to stick to one way to cook. I have string beans, neck bones and Wht potatoes posted. But that’s not the only way to cook neck bones. A lot of people think outside the box. You cook what you have or want to eat. Some people try something new other people don’t. It’s a recipe. That’s all. No one suggested giving up a tradition you set for your family. Thank you for your long comment.
@@chriscook4u2 Ms Chris I just love you!!! 😆😘🤗 I can't wait to try this. I got some beef neck bones in the freezer. This is so simple too😋 Thank you for sharing 💕😊

I add a tad of Kitchen Bouquet to make a little brown gravy with that slurry.
Grew up on neckbones & potatoes. Always had cornbread on the side
My Dad adds vinegar to his Neckbones as well. It helps those with high blood pressure. Prevents headaches.
Going to cook this. I love stucking a good neck bone.
