She did an amazing job. I remember, back in the early days of collage, I was making a 2D God of War sequel fan game called GoW: Redemption. I was making in in Game Maker and I used the existing Kratos sprites done for the old cellphone game and I began programming it. It was really hard as I was a beginner, still am in a lot of ways, but I worked on it for months, I made a few testing levels and even a test title screen with pixel art and everything. Man, I’ve been following Lilith on Twitter for a bit now and seeing what she does on there already made me think she is such a cool person. Then she mentioned LittleBigPlanet and that just stepped her up even further. Favorite series from my childhood. But no really this documentary was awesome and getting to see Lilith speak passionately about what she’s been able to accomplish is really inspiring to me. I haven’t thought about game development as a career choice in 8 or 9 years but now I feel like that may change and it’s largely because of Bloodborne PSX, Bloodborne Kart, and Lilith. (:
With how much hype this demake got, it was so deserving of a documentary. Fantastic stuff here, love Lilith's take on how we streamline alot of the fun out of games. I think it would be very interesting if we start to see indie devs making retro games in the style of PS1/N64 era games instead of only making 2D sprite based retro games. This is the era I grew up with and it really is an untapped treasure trove of nostalgia.
I really like the thought process that she put into this, not only giving herself the limitations but going the extra step of trying to use the same thought process of a dev from that era and console. It’s also nice to see I’m not alone when it come to thinking something was lost in this era of new design sensiblities aka qa.
It can't be overstated enough how amazing the demake is. Lilith really hit the nail on the head with how faithful she was to the original and how well the new things fit in the game. For a free download (obviously can't sell it), she put a ton of love and work into this project. Here's looking forward to BB Kart, FINALLY!
One thing I physically cannot disagree with, is the brilliant statement: not everything about gaming always gets better (sometimes it changes for the worse, sometimes nothing changes at all).
Amazing job - it was great hearing all your thoughts on approaching the project. Particularly when you talked about the mindset of a dev from the mid to late 90's and how they wanted to show off how 3d everything was.
I'm all aboard for witchy vibes but naming yourself Lilith after transitioning is a bit much. Edit: Apparently saying the name Lilith is a bit on the nose for someone who dresses in a witchy/gothy fashion is transphobic. Go figure. I included her transition because if I didn't I would have gotten replies along the lines of "of course you silly man, when people transition they often change their name to one they're more comfortable with." Edit 2: She picked the name before the witchiness. Point is moot. Also, apparently people are starting to use it as a name more often. Thank Frasier for lifting the tabboo I guess 🤷♂️
@@brennuswhite1845 Lilith is in reference to the first female demon, she was cast out of the Garden of Eden for not obeying Adam. It's not a name really used outside of the Bible, fantasy, etc. because who the heck names themself after one of the Bible's most famous demons? It's a little on the nose... Edit: It's a bit like being named Lucifer. Yes it happens but the name is strongly attached to its biblical roots it's a bit odd to want to be associated with it.
That's soooo cool, but then when I saw Bloodborne Kart I screamed loud, that's so fun! Keep the good work, Lilith! And guys @Noclip, another good work as always. Love ur docs, pals.

YO I am so here for the key system hot takes, I 100% agree. Lock and key design absolutely rules when it's brought to the forefront of a game and creative theming and twists are applied to it. It can be boring if no thought is put into the world building or framing of the keys, but if you get creative with it it's so fun
Based on what she said that she's going to release the code for the game so anyone who wants to finish the game to the actual Bloodborne Storyline can do lt too. Hmm, I wonder how many people will be extending the game's content
I totally agree with the old key system. Automation of certain things removes your involvement in your character's actions. This looks and feels like a very authentic PS1 game.
I really loved this video going through BBPSX! I followed Lilith while she was making it, but it's really cool to see a more concise and efficient look at the ideas, mindset and process of the demake. Thanks for putting a spotlight on Lilith and the insights (hah) one can get from studying both the difference between modern and older games. It really did light up a couple of spots in my brain when you talked about the menu and it's relation to the 3D. There are things I love about older games that aren't as common in modern games any more, partially because we've gotten used to it (like Lilith said) but also because the zietgeist has changed. Anyway, rambling. Thanks for your hard work and insightful (HAH) questions!
Bloodborne PSX is legit one of my favorite games to come out this year. I really hope more developers try this demake style and commit to some PS1 style games.

As a Nightmare Kart player, I need to play Bloodborne PSX
I really like the thought process that she put into this, not only giving herself the limitations but going the extra step of trying to use the same thought process of a dev from that era and console.
It’s also nice to see I’m not alone when it come to thinking something was lost in this era of new design sensiblities aka qa.
Super talented individual, really inspiring
So are you telling me that gothic witch is making Bloodborne PSX?! Holy crap, that's awesome!
Game development and forbidden eldritch knowledge have more things in common than you might think at first glance...
@@GameDevYal they're the same thing! :V
It can't be overstated enough how amazing the demake is. Lilith really hit the nail on the head with how faithful she was to the original and how well the new things fit in the game. For a free download (obviously can't sell it), she put a ton of love and work into this project. Here's looking forward to BB Kart, FINALLY!
ooo i wasn't expecting this from you guys, a welcome surprise for sure :)
I've been waiting to play this but absolutely have to after watching this.
Amazing work, you guys are putting out some banger documentaries lately.
Lilith Walther looks like the perfect person to remake booodborne. After all, she looks like she lives in yarnham already
🤭 true
I'm all aboard for witchy vibes but naming yourself Lilith after transitioning is a bit much.
Edit: Apparently saying the name Lilith is a bit on the nose for someone who dresses in a witchy/gothy fashion is transphobic. Go figure. I included her transition because if I didn't I would have gotten replies along the lines of "of course you silly man, when people transition they often change their name to one they're more comfortable with."
Edit 2: She picked the name before the witchiness. Point is moot. Also, apparently people are starting to use it as a name more often. Thank Frasier for lifting the tabboo I guess 🤷♂️
@@andresmithe298 what? why?
@@brennuswhite1845 Lilith is in reference to the first female demon, she was cast out of the Garden of Eden for not obeying Adam.
It's not a name really used outside of the Bible, fantasy, etc. because who the heck names themself after one of the Bible's most famous demons?
It's a little on the nose...
Edit: It's a bit like being named Lucifer. Yes it happens but the name is strongly attached to its biblical roots it's a bit odd to want to be associated with it.
@@andresmithe298 I know at least half a dozen people with that name lmao it predates the existence of the bible
This is just....amazing! Friggin loved playing this bite and bit sized new recreation! Love you Lilith!
This game literally inspired me to remake a silent-hill game with ps1 graphics . I owe this game a lot and I am so happy that no clip did this.
Well, the first Silent Hill is a PS1 only game 🤔
@@Witq87 i know but we somehow made a silent hill but with even more low poly 😂
She is so incredibly talented!!
It would be cool to see a no clip documentary on Games Done Quick. I don't know if that is the typical type of thing, but it would be amazing to see.
OMG this interview... im playing along for the first time whilst listening to the interview.. Very great. love ti
I looove the secret boss and how it's strapped to a table
That is such a cool intro to a boss
That's soooo cool, but then when I saw Bloodborne Kart I screamed loud, that's so fun! Keep the good work, Lilith!
And guys @Noclip, another good work as always. Love ur docs, pals.

this segment has taken an INTERESTING turn now, considering that Sony eventually did send a legal notice over Bloodborne Kart.
Great documentary! Bloodborne is one of my favorite games of all time too and this demake was really fun to play when I heard about it. When I beat Gascoigne and started the endgame for this demake it really caught me off guard but in the best way! Lilith did a great job with this project and I’m glad so many people played it and that it got the attention it rightfully deserved! I can’t wait to see what she makes in the future
When a demake has 60 fps while the OG is still at 30 😭
Well of course the demake is a higher frame rate. It's way less graphically intensive.
@@thekitkatshuffler Ocarina of Time ran at 20fps on the N64 while Super Mario Bros ran at 60 on the NES. Not trying to be mean, but age isnt really much of a factor.
@@hardgay7537 they didn't say age, they said it's less graphic intensive.
Which is true. PS1 graphics on modern hardware are not intensive.
Wow - that was a great doco there, team! She seems like an absolute legend. Completely open to talk about every part of the process. Super fun & informative video from start to finish! Made me want to replay some old PS1 games. Or maybe just Bloodborne again? Yeah, probably Bloodborne...
HELL YEAG LILITH
🤣
Happy such creative people exist in the world smile😊
Beautiful.
Inspires me to keep working on projects inspired by what I love :)
Fully looks like nightmare creatures. Love it.
really nice documentary and really nice hat
I want Lilith's hat...
Go on, try to get it
A hunter must hunt
Danke!
I love Liliths energy, and that outfit is amazing, I hope she has a long and prosperous career.
Bloodborne PSX is legit one of my favorite games to come out this year. I really hope more developers try this demake style and commit to some PS1 style games.
Favoritist? Little old to be saying things like that aren't you? Other than that, what a hell of a job.
YES. I've been looking forward to this doc since it was first announced! Now I just need to wait to watch it on my flight in two weeks. Let the second round of waiting begin!
two weeks??? bruh just watch it lmao
Ah f%^k yeah, been following this on Twitter for a few years now XD Shoutout to Lilith and NoClip
It's really cool to watch her livestreams and see how she works on Bloodborne Kart.
Please please keep trying to land a FromSoftware story!
