@@dailyraptor7700 Dishonored, like the Batman Arkham series, Assassin's Creed and interestingly Breath of the Wild is all about verticality. You gain a huge advantage by climbing up high, both in terms what you can see, not being seen, navigation and opening up options. Therefore that was the first thing I did on this level, I didn't find out about the 'usual' route till many playthroughs later when I purposefully broke out of my up top and behind the scenes 'route' and found out just how wonderful and varied this level is. A masterclass in level design.

I wish we could hear them discuss more of their design philosophy when it specifically comes to making the geometry of the maps. Something I'm always really impressed by is how the basic blocking of their levels always feels so natural while simultaneously seeming very deliberate. I want to know how they choose which buildings to make enterable, where to put shortcuts. Even the small stuff like how they always seem to have props stacked in just the right way to allow you to climb up to wherever you need to go even if you're playing with no powers.

When I went to the party, I had the invitation from Sokolov's estate (the previous level), but I noticed that the woman at the door lost hers - so i went to pick it up, and then noticed that the game stacked both invitations.
I thought it was really cool how it did that (even posted it on the subreddit). I was a tad sad that nobody wondered why I had 2 invitations, but it didn't matter since both got removed.

14:50 in one of my many playthroughs i followed them and tried to save the guy in a way that he doesn't attack me, i thought they probably didn't think of such a special case, but i was wrong! If you attack the evil guy just at the moment when he tries to backstab the good guy then the good guy will thank you for saving him and just silently leave the building without alerting the guards. And as always you can choose between the lethal and non-lethal approach. This is what i call a 10/10 game!

Watching this video reminds me of all the things I love about it, as well as all the things I never even DID in the game (I've never possessed anyone!).
And also reminds me that it's really the best game at simulating an experience like D&D, where the player gets to improvise along with the game... and all while looking spectacularly beautiful and detailed.

Great documentary! Though I will say that during the section of voice acting I was hoping that there would be mention of Stephen Russell. Especially with the mention of Thief queued up at the beginning of the documentary. Stephen was the voice of Garrett, the protagonist of the Thief series and getting him for Dishonored 2 to voice Corvo was great fan service.

The best thing with the alternate path where you smash the poisoned wine is that it's not just a cool secondary branch, it's got active gameplay effects as well: suddenly your target is in a remote space far away from the guards that guard his chamber, making escape much easier! It not only pats the players on the back for trying something silly, it rewards them for thinking outside the box. Really stellar design.
