My favourite book this month was also Phantom of the Opera - I didn't realise it was a book until you talked about it and I read it for the first time this month as part of the DA book club. I agree that the writing isn't the best that there is in the world but I loved it, the story, the mystery, the music and that ending is just heartbreaking! I've got Murder on the Links queued up behind Turn of the Screw (and perhaps A Man Called Ove) before going back to my French classics. I've always enjoyed Christie tho I've never read her avidly. As for Wells, I've always wanted to enjoy his stories so usually I avoid discussions that seem to be leading his way. Gillian Flynn remains on my TBR short list, which I've been pretty good at using as a launching point. Thx Emma, enjoyed.

I love The Phantom of the Opera so much! I read it both in English and my native language, it's one of my all time favourite novels. Christine Daae? Love of my life. Certainly in the top three favourite characters I've ever had the pleasure encountering in literature. I'm so happy to have found a booktuber who not only knows about it, but actually loves this book, seemingly as much as I do 🥰.
EDIT because I posted this before the video finished: Wow, seeing the name Emily A. Duncan takes me waaay back, what a blast from the past. I used to follow her fandom blog on tumblr in like 2012? 2013? something like that, because she liked the same bands I did and I remember her talking about writing a novel. I certainly have mixed feelings about this bit of the video, haha. While I'm happy to see someone I know from tumblr wrote something that made it onto booktube, it's a pity the novel itself has so many issues (I haven't read it myself, so I can't give a personal opinion.)

It'd be hard for books to get much worse than Armaggedon Summer by Jane Yolen and Bruce Coville. I mean at least many other bad books have some positivies, but that one was so awful. I only mention it here because I'm a bit astonished that the "worst book you ever read" could be something you read last month. I mean, sure it's possible, but I still feel like that might be an exaggeration.
However, quite a number of bad books come through here, even ones by authors I haven't read before but was interested in the basic concept, that I'm not 100 percent sure what can happen in a reading life anymore.

34:40, caillou means bald?, maybe is an unrelated fact but 'cal' (کَل) also means bald in persian, or maybe old persian, because its not used in modern days but you can find it in age old persian poetry.

if you want to read, you will! try swapping time on your phone for reading and bring a book with you wherever you go- theres so much time we have to read throughout the day in between tasks that we dont realize. set goals for yourself! hope that helps :-)

Sharp Objects I found horrifying as well. It was a wild read. I did not like the series as much as I liked the book. I don’t even think I finished the tv series.

I really enjoyed this video! But the background noise and change in volume here and there was often distracting.
