I don’t know if TGV will see this but after being made redundant due to COVID from a job I hated and months of job applications, the knowledge gained from this channel just helped me get a job in the watch industry. Thank you very much Sir!
Been thinking about going out and talking to a local watchmaker and seeing if he'd be interested in taking me in as a apprentice so that I can learn more about watches and servicing them since I've been learning how to service my own watches in past months.good luck on your new job and hope you enjoy it.
You have unfortunately confirmed all my suspicions of this watch. I’m on the waitlist now which I’m certain you just increased significantly. Thanks so much for the time, energy, and lesser known vocabulary you provide!
After watching your video on the Hyperion, I started searching for more reviews in it. Your views intrigued me. First the subdued bezel colors stood out. I'm not a fan of the bold pepsi colors so this was very appealing. I signed up to buy one and waited...and waited...and , well, you know. When it arrived, there was a small issue. I contacted them and it was resolved right away, no questions asked (AMAZING). I have wore it several days now and it only gains 1 second per day when setting it to my Casio Protrex that updates every night. So this is a remarkable piece! On top of all you said, which is all spot on, to have that level of accuracy right out of the box is nothing short of outstanding. I'll be coming back to Lorier to expand my collection. Happy customer!
I got an orient ray 2 from Long Island watch after binging your channel looking for the perfect first watch for me. After using the bracelet for a couple weeks I ordered a gray and black nato from Long Island watch to see if it was as comfortable as you always say. It is indeed. Love your channel, can’t wait to get a Lorier Neptune one day, I love how they look. Thanks for doing what you do and sharing your wealth of knowledge and experience with all of us. PS: I can’t recommend Long Island watch enough. Phenomenal service.
Just heard of this microbrand today, late in 2023! I've been lusting after all the GMT models available now, and noticed that this one too now is available with the Miyota 9075... I don't know if I can wait until next year, I might have to pull the trigger and get this one! I love the historical appeal and like that it isn't a direct homage to anything.
Do you think the new Miyota movement is an improvement to the Swiss movement it came with in the first generation? I'm not sure why Lorier did the change.
@@thebestoffoolsthere are pros and cons. The Soprod movement is Swiss, based on an ETA, it should be reliable and has bi-directional winding on the rotor. But it is a caller GMT rather than a travellers GMT. The Miyota is equally as robust and reliable, but Japanese, but it has that true GMT function of setting the hour hand and the GMT hand is a slave to the movement, whereas the Soprod the GMT hand is the one that can be independently set. Also with the Miyota you get a bit more noise from the rotor spinning. Honestly though, I’ve had my Neptune for 4 years with the Miyota movement and you don’t notice it whilst wearing it.
@@thebestoffoolsplus they have been able to bring the price down by going to the Miyota. The Hyperion was originally $899 with the Soprod movement, changing to Miyota means consistency across all the different models, and they could bring the price down to $599. I think it was a really good move by Lorier and it is definitely a superior movement to the Seiko NH34 that so many other brands use.
Great review. It's been really encouraging to watch Lorier grow as a brand over the course of their time on the market. Between this model and Baltic's GMT, there are really some great options at attainable prices these days.
Your Seamaster is the reason why I will get my vintage omega restored this year, just in time for my 40th! I think the Hyperion is gorgeous, I’d love to see one in person.
The picture of this vintage style gmt watch next to the parker classic flighter pen is so nice! As for the introduction you have no competition, it's professional.
Hi TGV. Another brilliant review, I always love your intros, this one especially as I'm a huge Steve McQueen fan. I've been a follower of Lorier ever since you first reviewed the Neptune, but I waited until last year to get mine, and I think the 3rd iteration is probably the best. I went for the classic black and white version, and it will certainly be a keeper for the rest of my days. One addition I would say for anyone thinking about Lorier, is their customer service is second to none. I emailed a question to them about my order for the Neptune, and I received a personal response back from Lauren within hours (UK to USA time difference and all). For me that's such a bonus, Lauren and Lorenzo are watch fans, and they create watches for enthusiasts, hence the plexiglass crystal. It might be everyone's taste, but if we all loved the same things, it would be a very boring world to live in. Take care and stay safe, Richard in sunny Cornwall!
Nice watch seriously considering it now.... And I don't see this roulette style date wheel in many other watches it's pretty neat and I really like the darker bezel tones. Another excellent review ciao.
TRISTANO! Great review, as always. Re the SOPROD A10 - this is actually A SEIKO Design, licensed from Seiko, NOT an ETA "based" movement. The giveaway is in the Architecture. When you showed the MacroShot of the movement, the regulation mechanism is Classic Seiko 7S, 7R design, with a regulation-tab. The ETA had a screw & you actually have to remove the Rotor & the Automatic Work in order to regulate the Watch. Also when you adjust the GMT hand on this, it is a smooth sweep, as opposed to the "Jumping" increments of the ETA. I have read Blogs about alignment issues of the GMT hand with the Soprod. Steinhart used it on one of their "Vintage" GMT models, but ditched it after complaints about alignment issues. But " The Proof of the Pudding is in the Eating" as they say! Wear it & see. CHEERS! Take care & stay safe!
Thank you Bruce, so interesting, I am glad I didn't make that mistake, the resemblance to the ETA I mentioned is uncanny however. You are so right, the proof is indeed in the pudding. I had no idea about Steinhart using it, excellent comment. Best regards, TGV
That looks gorgeous. Wonderfully filmed and as informative as always TGV. Keep those shout outs for John Harrison coming, he's my hero. Best wishes from the UK.
Great to see another addition to the Lorier lineup. This one is very tempting. Thanks for the great look at this piece, TGV. Was missing tuning-in to your best uploads. Glad to hear life is keeping you busy and brimming with purpose. Regards, as always, sir.
wow! I was checking this watch out today. I came home and and noticed a new Urban Gentry video and here it is. I guess i've been "Gentrified". I'm starting to think like TGV. Great video. Thanks
I’m wearing my Neptune right now! Exquisite coincidence! Love this company and their outstanding customer service. It’s the most comfortable watch I own.
I am thinking of getting a new Neptune version iv with a date window at 6:00. Also planning on getting a jubilee bracelet to swap in and out of for a different look at times. Thanks for this presentation.
One thing I like about Lorier is that if you miss the initial offering they make more so no fear of missing out. So many other microbrands go the other way. I have a Neptune 3 and its a slick watch
My goodness. This video certainly is a notch up in quality and presentation and I thoroughly enjoyed listening to your comments and observations. Classy
Wow! Another swinger TGV! With this watch, a quite honorable acknowledgment of the Girard Perregaux Sea Hawk pepsi, Lorier pulled a marvelous coup in mastering the vintage aesthetic with a modern architectural design that epitomizes understated class. Your sartorial ensemble perfectly compliments this beautiful watch. Another one well done Tristiano, very well done! Ciao.
New to watches since all the covid-19 nonsense started. I Have some starters that I really love, and watches that have been gifts from loved ones! Lovely video as always TGV! I just bought the Hyperion Sii now that they offer it with the Miyota 9075. Very exciting stuff to have a true GMT at such an affordable price point!
Maybe I’m crazy but I just don’t travel enough to use a GMT. I’ve looked at them a dozen times and always end up coming to the same conclusion. Love the Lorier brand though and their GMT looks awesome. Spent nearly a year on the wait list for the Gemini and it just arrived a few weeks ago. That’s a great watch and it was worth the wait.
But your family and your friends travel. When someone of my family travels abroad i set the time of their destination on my Steinhart GMT. I love this watch. Get a GMT watch and you won't regret it. 😁
As always, great video, you are the best on YT. I don't have a GMT, i don't have a lifestyle that could use one, but i want to have one. The Lorier certainly is on my radar.
the 1st gen Hyperion silver hands would be my next purchase. Sadly it's already off the market and they now use a thicker movement hence watch instead of the Soprod. Short lived series, would prefer to have the time to think over any purchase. Still a niceone, now looking at the baltic batiscaphe instead. I bought one of these in silver and I LOVE it! Fantastic watch & PERFECT for traveling. I normally don’t like guild, but my only regret not going for the gold guild.
Beautiful watch great review 👍 that macro lens ain't helping there case ? Horrible finished hands specifically the lume bleeding over and so so printing.
Thank you my friend, it means a lot when fellow watch reviewers on YT take the time to comment. I love your channel btw, keep up the good work. Best regards, TGV
Great video as always TGV. Love my own Neptune which gets loads of wrist time so open to considering the GMT. Lorier seem to be able to hit the sweet spot every time -- and for a reasonable price too.
To understand that Jimi & Miles mentioned in the same vein as artists is…….”the kipper’s knickers!” Tristano! You do know your music. Kind of Blue & Are You Experienced…… awesome musical virtuosity …(what happened to that in popular music???) from them both. Bravo Sir! And a very cool watch too! Thanks
Your videos are always so thorough and well done. Thank you for taking the time to make all these. For me, I’m really hoping a coke bezel with silver hands in the near future.
As an ex journeyman tool and die maker, and currently an air traffic controller, this intro really blew my skirt up... Awesome 👏🏼 no complaints with my Neptune either!
Thoroughly enjoyable video. Very attractive GMT. Lots to love about this piece especially how thin it is and its retro looks and great bracelet and excellent price point. Good work fella.
They actually describe the blue on the bezel as "Air Force Blue". It's actually is the same color of the Air Force dress uniform I wore when I was in service. I've had my eye on this one for a long time. It's a gorgeous piece. Amazing review as always!
Wonderful ‘McQueen-esque’ theme throughout this one! Any plans to cover the aforementioned Gemini? The reverse panda has me seriously intrigued! Thanks again!
There are several swiss made GMT watches for this price or less and obviously I would say they may overprice it a bit here. But I could say the same thing about my Version 2 Neptune. I trusted TGV's reviews he'd done on the first version. It's almost 2 years ago that I received it and it's truly one of my favorite watches. Very well made, the bracelet, I mean, THE bracelet! 😁 Seriously this is the best you can get on a watch for under 1000$. I love the brand, love their style, love the acrylic cristal and everytime they release a new model it's an improvement and shows how much Lauren and Lorenzo care about their watches. Great review as always!
Great video! I own the falcon series II in blue and white. Love the smaller size on my 7-inch wrist. It's a good change of pace from my other bigger watches. (Citizen promaster, Seiko Sea urchin). Would love to see TGV review it too!
Anybody else notice the fuzziness around the handset? it looks like it could be from the process when they get the lume into the hands...i'm not expecting heaven and earth from this pricepoint, but i do wish that they cleaned it up a little bit. Either way, they already have my money ( Falcon series 2 gilt).
What a great watch! Lorier’s best yet. I actually want one. With my favorite bracelet design of any micro brand. The only things I would change...applied rather than printed indices, even if that increases the price a bit. And at least the (extra cost) option of a sapphire crystal and bezel insert. I would stick with the plexiglass myself, while going for the sapphire bezel insert. But these a minor “quibbles” it’s still fantastic just the way it is, and I would be happy with that 😁
@@theurbangentry Still absolutely loving my Hyperion. One might even say "Pure class". Deployed the Polywatch for the first time today. Oh Lord, this is a gift from the Gods! I see there are a few new issues from Lorier imminent including a Neptune Mark IV, a Falcon Mark III and a dress watch called the Zephyr with a tonneau case.
Hi TGV, a great review of a very attractive watch. For those who spend time in parts of the world with half-hour time zone differences from GMT, will this watch allow setting the half-hour difference on its dedicated hand?
That Seamaster is amazing… The only fault that I can find with it?...It’s not on MY wrist! Love that GMT....I prefer sapphire, as I am a ‘bull-in-a-China-shop’....other than that...perfect! Thanks for a fun review!
I don’t know if TGV will see this but after being made redundant due to COVID from a job I hated and months of job applications, the knowledge gained from this channel just helped me get a job in the watch industry.
Thank you very much Sir!
Thank you Thomas, this mad my day.

The colours of bezel insert are unbelievably appealing to my eye

This brand is growing and poised to reach luxury status!
Hope it will remain a watch brand instead, no luxury tag needed. ^^
@@florianhess Well said.....I agree. Cheers
Excellent video! Beautiful watch!!
I agree, your best review yet, put together so well with music, movie and cultural references.

Been looking at the gilt version for months - hope to grab one when they come back in stock!
that colour scheme denim blue, burgundy, really works beautifully.
