the greatest advantage of a narrower truck is the faster turn in rate comparative to wider trucks. narrower trucks flick into turns faster and in allot of downhill applications a narrow truck on a wider board allows you to get more grip because the wheels are brought in more underfoot so the weight is directly placed onto the wheels and you can put more leverage on the board because of its width. hence the reason ronin has the 144mm hangar width this year on the katanas because they ride like you are on a rail so you can take the fastest line possible on a course. the only real downsides are wheel bite on topmounts and the fact that it is a more abrupt entry into your slides due to the faster turn in rate and that they get more grip so when you break it it is more difficult to control. anyway nice vid man keep up the good work
Absolutely on point. I think narrow trucks definitely have their place in fast technical DH and Racing of course. But as far as freeride goes, if you skate any deck 9,75" and up, why would you choose anything smaller than 175mm trucks? I ride 9,5" deck with 178mm Vapors and it feels nice, especially for holding out standup slides when freeriding. I dont see the point in going narrow, ill sacrifice some stability and the flowy feeling of initiating a slide and the smoother hook up. you can still take decent lines with 180mm trucks, the rider makes the lines not the trucks.
do u still ride narrow hangers or did you go back to 180mm? i think the narrow hanger thing is more like a trend nowadays. for racing it makes sense, more grip, more nimble etc. but for freeride, holding out slides, why go narrower than 170-175mm doesnt make sense?
What deck did u skate and do u still ride ur paris savants like that? Or areas? I got a 9.75" deck should i buy 180mm? Everyone skates narrow today. Is it easier to slide on 43* ?Awesome video btw
I do still ride paris, im riding 150 43º V3's now and adore them, they fit really well on a 9.5 deck, 165 is a great option if the widest thing you'll ride is 9.75. Definitely easier to slide and more stable on lower degree trucks. In this video i was riding a proto DH freeride board i designed for Remember when i rode for them, sad that it never came out cause im sure many would've loved it!
I have both gulling sidewinders and original longboards s6 trucks. The gulling ones just kind of feel like very loose normal trucks with a lot of “travel” very surfy but wobbly at speed. The s6 trucks have springs instead of bushings and are so sick at carving and even hill bombing, I’d definitely recommend them. Btw the original s6 trucks come in 3 sizes and 3 spring stiffnesses depended on your riding style.
does narrow trucks more prone to speed wobble compared to wider trucks? sorry im new to riding fast and i just got an electric skateboard and planning to upgrade the trucks to paris v3, my board is 28X8inchs but im not sure which size should i get 150mm,165mm or 180mm? the issue with my current trucks is i get speed wobble when i go fast.. However i sometimes i do like to bounce around cause it feels lik surfing.. im wondering if you can recon which size should i get to get good stability when i go fast but still be able to cruise side to side with ease

Underground Longboards I was riding 180's and had been for 6 years - I switched to 165's. I usually fit a 10,10.5 or 11 depending on the shoe. Stay stoked, go skate!

Go 180 if you haven't already or tighten them up to prevent wobble
