Sago Palm.....😢....No one knew... Our 3 year old bull terrier was put down last night...because of liver failure due to the palm. We had no idea....but now I will be the biggest advocate of this heart wrenching fact. Im still in shock. 😢
Very good vedios on poisons plants. Dr Jones do you have any vedios on Chihuahuas I have four. Thanks aging for being there for all of us. I like your mustache. God bless you and your family and all pets. Janine
What do you know about hibiscus flowers/plants? My puppy has very "soft serve " stools, and I am just trying to figure out why. I really appreciate your channel and the Movember mustache!
Thanks a bunch for this video. Now, my cat has been coughing on a daily basis, she had been diagnosed with feline asthma last month. Are there any specific plants that cause difficulty in breathing? Or can you tell me about a test that can identify what causes her the allergy?
I have a husky who developed a itchy shabby rash on his back. He's blowing his coat so I was wondering if something is getting to his skin that would normally be protected. Tonight I just noticed when he went to get a drink of water some leaves from an overgrown pothos graced his back in all the places he's affected.🤦♀️I had no idea. Hopefully moving them (and trimming them back) helps clear him up.
One of our cats came to us as a stray as a kitten. Now he's older and has recently started eating my plant that has grown from anise seeds. it seems harmless but I just wanted to make sure it's all right. It keeps growing longer so it hangs down where he can get to it. We keep trying to prop it up so he can't reach it, but for all i know maybe it is something that he would eat outside like he would grass.
I really like your teaching and i have plants that i have bout the yard is a blue high hydrangea and slown ball hydrangea and I have choking on a big rescue 7 cats and they range from two years on down now what really like to find out some information how do you remove you plant out of the house and will it be all right if I plant them outside
Philodendron is poisonous to dogs, and any ingestion is cause for an immediate call to your vet. If a dog ingests a significant amount of philodendron, they could experience severe respiratory and digestive issues that could be fatal.
Thanks. Sago plant is common in japanese gardens. If a dogs is for a while playing in the garden and doesn’t bite the log or leaves, will they be poisoned? All these plants are poison only if pets bite these plants ( except the lily pollen)?
OMG! I just found a stray dog with a severe mange. Since i dont have work because of pandemic i used an aloe vera to treat her mange but sometimes she ate it. Im so bad. I just make her condition worst.. Thank you so much for the information.
Dr Jones my dog kept on eating laurel cherries 4- 5 hours ago while visiting a friend and her garden. He refused to stop eating them while I was chasing him to try to stop him. So far he hasn't had a reaction to it. I shall see how he goes, if he's ill will contact our local vet.
Hey,thank you for this information,it's really quite useful, I have put it in my dog n cats files.Would u please talk about the methods or problems how to prevent a 12 years old Siamese cat who is trying to pee everywhere in my room and my clothes which are on the floor when I am not at home. Then I can get more faith from your talk for handling it.Thank u.
I know I’m late to seeing this video, but I have a 10 week old bullie and he ate some bougainvillea flowers, I’ve read this was mildly toxic to dogs. He is showing tired and lack of play but kind of wet bowels. Could I treat him naturally and will this cause him to die? For my kids sake?! We just got him anything will help , thanks!
I'm curious about this too. The castor bean (or the oil from it) is very highly toxic. Though I'm not sure if the plant itself or a single raw bean would be.
I bought a cataractarum palm (tropical plant) to put outside, but had hoped to bring it inside in the fall. Do you know anything about that plant in particular?
What are some backyard plants/weeds that would make a cat sick? My 1 & 1/2 yr old half siamese blk ghost tabby has pica and will try to eat most grass/weeds, recently he ate what I thought was moss then threw up, had diarrhea and drooled for a couple days but is back to normal now. He has some food allergies as well.
Is it only toxic to pets if they eat it? I have a succulent and apparently it’s toxic to cats. I really want to display it in my room. Is it safe, should I put it in my room with my cat?
Good point. This is info about 'snake plants': The plants are also poisonous if ingested. Large doses can cause nausea and vomiting, and the poison found in the plant has a numbing effect that can cause the tongue and throat to swell. The plants are more toxic to dogs and cats, which can suffer from nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.
I have had a cat for 8 months, all this time I have had 8 plants of Aloe Vera. My cat is as happy as always. How is this possible? I don't want my cat to get sick or die, but I'm doubting Aloe Vera can harm him.
James Cook, your cat is just is going to have bad poops. My cats nibbled on my aloe and stopped pretty much right away the following day, im sure their tummy taught them to stay away. now my aloe is larger and the spikes have made them steer clear. It's not fun to chew on something that bites you back.
According to the Pet Poison Hotline, aloe vera has a mild to moderate toxic effect oncats. Aloe vera contains anthraquinone glycosides that are known to increase fluid in the intestines and cause a laxative effect. When ingested, aloe vera can cause vomiting, diarrhea and a change in urine color.
I would like this same video but about plants that are toxic for rats. I would like to add some plants to my ratcage, so they can sleep under the plants or just to have something interesting there. I dont mind them digging the plants out or destroying them a little.
