Thank you for this information! I've had cats all my life (I'm 69 years old) and have been fortunate enough to have not had any problems with plants and cats so far. I was thinking of getting some new plants, but this list made me think otherwise. You may have saved my cats from death or horrible problems. Thank you!!!💕
I had no clue about most of them so it’s good to know. I shared to Facebook for others to see the list which hopefully will help others to better protect their cats. 🙏🏻💖 Also, we finally got our female(Bella) spayed. She has mostly reverted to her former sweet self prior to us taking in our younger male (Romeo). I really appreciate the insight from other viewers about whether the procedure would help. Had it not we would have to rehome her which we’re very happy is no longer necessary. 🙏🏻💖🥰
I'm able to keep onions and garlic from my cat Ruby. When she tries to lick the bowl after I've finished my spaghetti sauce, I tell her "not for kitties" and she understands.
I noticed that the spider plant, another common houseplant, isn't on the list. Apparently while it's not considered outright toxic to cats, it can still cause discomfort if ingested. It never seemed to cause problems for the house cats I had growing up, but if there's any doubt you can always use a hanging planter to keep it put of reach (and many people hang this plant anyway).
You are correct in mentioning spider plants are not entirely toxic to cats. Spider plants are listed by the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals as non-toxic to cats. But it does contain chemicals like catnip, which may cause mild excitement in cats. Some cats may experience mild gastrointestinal distress, such as vomiting or diarrhea, after chewing hangnail leaves. Although these reactions are usually mild and cats mostly recover independently, hanging the spider plant out of your cat's reach is recommended for safety reasons. This will not only prevent your cat from ingesting too much of the plant's foliage but also prevent them from possible injuries from jumping or climbing. Although spider plants are mostly harmless to cats, as a cat owner, ensuring the environment's safety is always a priority. Hanging your plant out of reach of your cat will allow us to continue enjoying the greenery of the orchid and ensure your pet's safety. I recommend that we prioritize completely harmless options when choosing plants and always watch their cat's behaviour to ensure they don't come into contact with potentially harmful plants.
mistletoe, which may be popular in homes around the holidays, is very toxic to pets! so if anyone hangs mistletoe, be sure to throw it away after use, before it has the chance to fall down onto the ground where curious pets may play with it
I was surprised by Aloe! Thought, it was harmless for everyone. Thankfully, i don't have it. And i was surprised that some flowers are related to onion 😅
Holy 🙀that is almost every typical Dutch flowerplant! I have 3 of these in my garden, and likely would have bought some of the other types for inside the house this year, so THANK YOU for informing us!! 🙏🙌😺
Because there are cat-safe plants out there. So if you love both plants and cats, it's possible to have both. In the future we will do a non-toxic plants list. 🐈
It was "touch tone phones" in the 70s. BTW: Waterbeds provide the perfect support that the cutting-edge mattresses try to achieve -- at 1/10th the cost.

Thank you for sharing the video! 🐈 And we're so happy to hear that Bella is doing well and has a forever home. 🐈❤️
I'm glad I don't have any toxic houseplants in my apartment. As for garlic and onion, I'll know to keep them away from my cat Tiger-J.

Plants really do not want to be eaten
Indeed. Then again, no life form does. But since a plant can't run, hide, or fight, this is one way they try to protect themselves.

If you have an outdoor cat, how can you stop them from eating your next door neighbor's lillies? Answer: You can't.
Until I started watching these videos I thought the only plant that was toxic to cats was poinsettia.

Which plants are good for cats and are fake plants good for cats to live with????
Why not just have no plants at all if you want a cat? 🤔
