I personally love this song, and that's actually a great album. It sounds like she is a little more into thrash metal. Maiden isn't about speed, like you said, they are about melodies and story telling. They are definitely world class musicians throughout the whole band. I saw them back in 85 and they put on a tremendous show. Let her listen to it a couple of dozen times, and she'll like it. lol. Seriously though, I respect the fact that she is able to give her honest opinion and thoughts. You can't be going through life saying "this is great, I love it" because you think that's what people want to hear. I also love that you are spending this quality time with your daughter, and teaching her what good music is all about. Keep it up!
My favorite song by them and probably the best live performance of this song they ever did. Great reaction guys. Please, react to Avantasia - The Scarecrow (from the Flying Opera DVD), it's amazing

Some suggestions for your school of metal: Judas priest - painkiller Black Sabath - war pigs Dio - Holy diverse Megadeth - symphony of destruction Iron Maiden - number of the beast
I think its okay to express your honest opinion about a song, even if it is a classic. This is definitely a different style or genre from the other videos I have seen, so it makes sense that your preconception of what metal music is might be skewed toward the heavier stuff. I think Iron Maiden is one of the most important bands in metal, and I think the fact that they have been doing this music for as many years and still fill out arenas is a testament to that. I also think this is not the first song I would recommend for someone who has never heard Maiden before. That said, I think the granddaddies of metal should be next: Black Sabbath's "War Pigs".
@@ChemicalReactions well 😏. Its still everyone's own opinion/taste of music:) . For me personally it's on my list of all time favorites. Wow- can't imagine seeing them in concert at age 11. One of the best metal bands ever. Though metal's roots go much further back with Sabbath and other iconic bands, Maiden was ahead of their time. Great musicianship along with great composition and an incredibly iconic and legendary voice of Bruce's...it doesn't get much better than this. Up the irons!
I see your Cliff Burton, and raise you Les Claypool from Primus (technically not metal band, but daaaaaaang that guy rides a bass like no other - watch the Tommy the Cat live performance 😉)
I get that.. he's definitely "out of the box". I'd be lying if I said I like everything they've done. Truth be told I really like maybe 4 or 5 of their songs, the rest I'm not a fan of lol
During the pause.. when she was saying about the focus on Bruce's vocals..I just kept thinking to myself.. "wait for it... the solo is coming" LOL Peace
I think UTA is the perfect follow-up to her intro to Maiden. She might be able to hear the influences and how some power metal has evolved over the years.
It's best to start with the foundations of metal and work forward. Then the various branches of metal start to make more sense. As for this, to Juliet. the more Maiden you see and hear, you'll learn that though they are a highly visual band live, they also are very good at recreating the sound of the song live. Better quality footage and hearing the same song both ways will show this.
Iron Maiden took me a few listens to get into even back in the early 80s when I first heard them. But the more I listened, the more I liked them. Now that I'm knocking on the door of 50 years old, I still listen to them and love them and respect them more now than I did as a teenager in the 80s for what they've done musically. Spend some more time with these guys. Bruce's voice is unique and their sound is also very unique. There are so many tunes in the catalog to choose from. When getting into new genres of music, and open mind is required, which Juliette absolutely has and that's awesome, but and open ear is also required. By that I mean you have to remember that it's not all going to sound the same. It's not all going sound like Jinjer or Metallica or Nightwish or Gojira. Every band, in order to be successful, has to create their own image and sound. Perhaps starting this School of Metal series with bands from the earliest days of metal and progressing from say, the 70s up to the present, would have been a better way to do it so she can follow that natural progression of the genre instead of now having to "fight" that expectation that she has after hearing newer bands. But she's doing great and she's a very smart young lady who sure seems to be very open to all of this which is awesome. Keep up the great work, guys.
I’m a divorced father of a 14 year old daughter and see her every other weekend since she was VERY young. I’ve endured Disney cds and know waaaaaay too many Justin Bieber lyrics. I myself grew up in the 80’s and listen to Bob Jovi, Cinderella, Whitesnake...I found Megadeth and Metallica and it turned me on to the heavier bands. Loved the Grunge Era with Nirvana and Pearl Jam and actually went into death metal too. I never played my music when I was with her, instead letting her find herself. With in the last two years my daughter has switched from radio pop to introducing ME to some metal bands! Now we absolutely thrash in the car together. Seeing you two doing this is awesome and reminds me of these times of mine. I hope you two continue on, as I’ve found it as such a bonding experience with my daughter. Some of the bands we’ve found together Motionless In White / Reincarnate Black Veil Brides / Knives and Pens I Prevail / Scars Frozen Crown / I Am The Tyrant Bullet for my Valentine / Tears Don’t Fall Many many other songs and bands, but I hope you two find something here that you haven’t heard and really enjoy
She needs to know that when comes Iron Maiden's certain style, their category of Metal is called *POWER METAL.* And when comes to power metal, you get to hear more harmonies in vocals
Thanks for the nice reaction. :) ok i had expected more but maybe it was the wrong song for her. well every song by maiden is different maybe you'll try another one at some point. if she expect tougher stuff try slayer raining blood. uhhhh. ^^ thumbs up for you
There wouldn't be a Metallica or bands like them without Iron Maiden, they were the pioneers. They influenced most of the bands that came out after them. Maiden has always been about actual substance in their music. They still til this day sell out 100,000 plus arenas, so after 40 yrs they must be doing something right. It's nice dad gets it, she needs a little more exposure to Maiden.
Thank you for reviewing one of my favourite songs. I really appreciate the honest opinion. Metal music in general may not be one of the easiest type of music to get into, since there are a lot of subgenre of metal available. And each one sounds different from the other. You may find yourself discovering your favourite subgenre or band through this journey. But if I may say so, never depend on a single hearing session especially the bands that do concept album. They may be the most trickiest bands to get into. OK, now for my obligatory song request. And since I've been talking about different/unique subgenre of metal, I think you guys may enjoy something new. My song request would be, "Quoth the Raven" by the band Eluveitie. And please review this version ua-cam.com/video/qY7VoBWZJ8o/v-deo.html if possible because I think it would bring up a good discussion/conversation. Thank you, and keep up the good work.

some more songs of Maiden if you haven't heard them: Fear of the dark run to the hills number of the beast Afraid to shoot strangers dance of death no more lies brave new world blood Brothers
Maiden grew on me, though. Took me some time to warm up to them. Maybe you can do NWOBHM, the American Big 4 (Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax), and the European metal bands (Helloween, Kreator, etc) as part of your School of Metal series. And then gradually warm up to the newer stuff. Although, you can also do reactions to "proto-metal" bands - bands that paved the way - too. Bands like Black Sabbath, Cream, The Who, Led Zeppelin, etc. There...is...just...so much metal.
If you wanna hear the best voice in metal, Dio is your man. Songs that are strongly reccomended: Rainbow - Stargazer Black Sabbath - Heaven and Hell Dio - Holy Diver All of these are sung by the God of Metal... P.S. Nice video, UP THE IRONS!!!
I've listened to Maiden for the first time back in 81. I remember the first two Iron Maiden albums by the cover. I was only ten years old. Two of my older brothers borrowed from friends at school "Killers album" that was a bit strange for my ear then, we were used to mainstream music, so didn't like it too much. There was this show every Friday night which they play videos of metal music. I'm talking about mid or late 1982 now! ..I remember Quiet Riot for sure a lot of Scorpions, Judas Priest, Maiden. But still it didn't click. Now back in 84, one of my friends had an album which had different bands in it, that's the first time ever, came across, The Number of the Beast by Iron Maiden. I'd played that song over and over. I'd listened to the song and every time there was something about it that made me a fan of Iron Maiden. Up to this day, still can't find the words or definition of what is it about Iron Maiden. Only one thing or two though! I don't like Janick Gers for shit!! and I only like Maiden from Seventh Son to the first Iron Maiden album. Yeah I saw them at the No Prayer for the Dying tour, bought the Cassette and the only CD I ever bought from them was Brave New World. The rest after No Prayer didn't bother to buy, except music videos from their history, Live After Death, Maiden England, Rock and Rio and Flight 666, but for sure can't stand Janic Gers for shit!
Never apologize for what you like or don't like .Maybe after a revisit you'll like it more , maybe not .Let her hear Megadeth Holy Wars , but remind the young one that its " thrash "
Incredible song. A man sits in a cell awaiting his own execution. I love how both the lyrics and the music go through the five stages of grief, starting with disbelief and bargaining, then moving to anger, sadness and finally acceptance.
ChemicalReactions! There is absolutely no denying that Bruce is a huge part of the success they achieved but(of coarse there is always a BUT lol) I personally like Paul DiAnno’s vocal style more. He definitely has a more punk feel to his voice and look and since I come from a more punk music upbringing he is a personal favorite. Apparently they once got booked to open for Siouxsie and the Banshees but Steve Harris cancelled because he was afraid there would be problems with their fans and the punk kids, remember this was the early days before the two crowds could be at the same show without violence.
Juliette looks a lot like lead guitarist Sonia Anubis of the all female power metal band Burning Witches. They have a Judas Priest meets Warlock 80s vibe, lead singer Seraina Telli even sounds like Doro Pesch. @@bratislavmetulski5565 Metallica even said iron maiden was there idols
Metallica said they got influenced by iron maiden and diamond head buddy
Great reaction.
That little girl needs to hear Black Sabbath - Into the Void.
Iron Maiden are the masters of Metal...all of their songs have a story with a history...and their playing is fantastic !!!!!
Need to take the School of Metal back to the beginning!! Black Sabbath!! She doesn't have an ear for this yet!! Don't give up! Keep Rocking🤟🤟🤟👍😎
Keep it up!
You gotta react to Rainbow - Stargazer! \m/
I got to see rainbow in the late 70s
Killer ! Richie Blackmore
My favorite song by them and probably the best live performance of this song they ever did. Great reaction guys.
Please, react to Avantasia - The Scarecrow (from the Flying Opera DVD), it's amazing
Great choice mate 👌
Wazzup ya Wintersun lovin’ homie.
Tool - Lateralus..... your Chem squad will grow huge with some Tool reactions....we are a almost a cult! Lol
Coming soon for sure!

Ah shit, prepare yourselfs for the Tool trivia.
This is my first hearing this song and I actually really enjoyed it. Great reaction guys!
Rhiannon Bernard For real for real?
@@metalmanny666 Yeah, I never heard it growing up, and I never really looked into them. But I definitely will now!
Rhiannon Bernard check this one out as well “Iced Earth - A Question Of Heaven Live”
Keep doing what you do! Another golden delicious reaction, spot-on as always 🤘
Thank you!
Loved the reaction, great knowledge you showed there Chuck. I also love how Juliette explained why she didn't really like parts of the song. Well spoken young lady right there 🤩 and hey, give maiden some time to grow on you, they are a masterfull band! Some suggestions for your school of metal:
Judas priest - painkiller
Black Sabath - war pigs
Dio - Holy diverse
Megadeth - symphony of destruction
Iron Maiden - number of the beast
Thank you!
This band was One of starters/beginers of these kind of genre. That why it sounds like less of "pure metal" songs or Metallica type of songs.
This is the first time I've listened to Maiden in 20 years. Almost brought tears to my eyes. Why did I ever let them go. They're back now.
I'm glad I played metal around my son when he was about five years old now he loves Metal!
Good honest feedback! You shouldn't feel obligated to like something. ;)
OK lets see how sweet Juliette Reacts to DIMMU BORGIR -Gateways-(LIVE-FORCES OF THE NORTHERN NIGHT )

Therefore I definitely would love to request : Blind guardian The bard's song/Valhalla live @Wacken.
Thank you so much for the reply 😃👌
Wow- can't imagine seeing them in concert at age 11. One of the best metal bands ever. Though metal's roots go much further back with Sabbath and other iconic bands, Maiden was ahead of their time. Great musicianship along with great composition and an incredibly iconic and legendary voice of Bruce's...it doesn't get much better than this. Up the irons!
Sometime bands need to grow on you. Listen to more Maiden and that just might happen. Maybe it wont and that is ok. Great honest reaction.
You could argue that Iron Maiden was proto-power metal. Bruce Dickinson is a force of nature, very melodic and powerfull.
Absolutely! best metal vocalist in my book!
@@ChemicalReactions Hes 2nd in mine, but hes still otherworldly talented. Dio first, Bruce 2nd, Geoff Tate 3rd, Rob Halford 4th.
She dont like it . She dont have too, but she gave it a listen, Respect!
Not only did she give it a listen, but she also made a valid attempt to try to understand what the song was saying.
I see your Cliff Burton, and raise you Les Claypool from Primus (technically not metal band, but daaaaaaang that guy rides a bass like no other - watch the Tommy the Cat live performance 😉)
I was always amazed by his technicality but his voice and the vibe of their songs were always turnoffs for me tbh
I get that.. he's definitely "out of the box". I'd be lying if I said I like everything they've done. Truth be told I really like maybe 4 or 5 of their songs, the rest I'm not a fan of lol
React to DEVIN TOWNSEND PROJECT - Deadhead (Live at Royal Albert Hall) pls!
Amazing!
During the pause.. when she was saying about the focus on Bruce's vocals..I just kept thinking to myself.. "wait for it... the solo is coming" LOL
Peace
Such a great and long solo!
Tornado of Souls by Megadeth, Crystal Mountain by Death, Spit it Out live by Slipknot
Iron maiden is still touring and rocking it still some of the best live shows out there take her to see iron maiden please
I think it’s a good introduction of heavy metal for her is Unleash the Archers - Awakening!
Not yet.
Absolutely!!!! Awakening is an epic tune and Juliette will love it!!!!
I think UTA is the perfect follow-up to her intro to Maiden. She might be able to hear the influences and how some power metal has evolved over the years.
@@ftldelay Well it's either a follow up to Maiden or Priest. It's kind of a toss up on that front.
What a great dad! Listening to his daughter with all ears and teaching with great respect. Up The Irons!
David Townsend Project - Deadhead, Live at Royal Albert Hall

Old skool. I bet this video will still be played on youtube or whatever in 2040. Incredible.
You reacted on some great classics. I wonder what you think of something new and a genre you haven't reacted to. Amorphis - Amongst Stars
Yes! Anneke's voice in that song
Greetings from the flatland (The Netherlands)! Great to see you and your daughter enjoying the best music!
At some point she's gonna need introduced to PANTERA 🤩🤘 - Cemetery Gates 🎸🔥

You need to react to any Iron Maiden Rock in Rio song. Try "The Clansman" for a great bass into by Steve Harris.
Try Judas priest- The sentinel , still classic metal but with a little more power, probably she liked more.
Great choice
Some of the bands we’ve found together
Motionless In White / Reincarnate
Black Veil Brides / Knives and Pens
I Prevail / Scars
Frozen Crown / I Am The Tyrant
Bullet for my Valentine / Tears Don’t Fall
Many many other songs and bands, but I hope you two find something here that you haven’t heard and really enjoy
Helloween - Keeper of the Seven Keys
Keep up the Iron Maiden reactions!
There is so much Maiden out there to go!!lol
"Hallowed Be Thu Name", is Iron Maiden 101!!!
NO THEY ARE THE FATHERS OF METAL THIS IS CLASSIC MUSIC FOR THE METAL GENRE
She needs to know that when comes Iron Maiden's certain style, their category of Metal is called *POWER METAL.* And when comes to power metal, you get to hear more harmonies in vocals
Iron Maiden isn't Power Metal, they're Heavy Metal. They're one of the main influences in Power Metal tho.
maiden can be an aquired taste, a few more songs might be needed😉
I agree. We can't leave this at that. Need more Maiden!
@@ChemicalReactions maybe rhyme of the ancient mariner, lyrics video, so it's not too overwhelming, or you could try fear of the dark live in Rio
Hands down: Iced Earth - Dante's Inferno Alive in Athens '99!
Thanks for the nice reaction. :) ok i had expected more but maybe it was the wrong song for her. well every song by maiden is different maybe you'll try another one at some point. if she expect tougher stuff try slayer raining blood. uhhhh. ^^ thumbs up for you
They are the Shakespeare of metal. Well said. Their lyrics often have an extra dimension to them that put most bands to shame.
Such iconic band and legendary voice.
Couldn't agree more! (Chuck)
Thank you!
I was at this ‘Hammy O’ gig first time I’d seen IM with Bruce, for me this is their greatest song, sublime stuff, great reaction yet again guys 🤘🏻
Wow! I can only imagine the ambience in there. I still remember vividly my FOTD concert. They are epic live!
ChemicalReactions! Maiden are probably what you would call my local band, them from East London,me from North London,Dave Murray lived just up the road from me,first saw them play the Cart and Horses back in the late 70’s and just carried on from there really,a group of us follow them around the UK when they tour here, they are a phenomenal band live.
Best album with de best song of IM. And the best line up. Clive Burr (rip): best drummer ever! Awesome on his drum kit. Up the Irons! 🤘
Last me my son was listening iron maiden when he was 5 years old he knows more of the songs than I do..
Anything Ronnie James Dio
Rainbow , Dio or Black Sabbath
Definitely war pigs
some more songs of Maiden if you haven't heard them:
Fear of the dark
run to the hills
number of the beast
Afraid to shoot strangers
dance of death
no more lies
brave new world
blood Brothers
I see Maiden, I watch. I'm a simple man.
Same...
@@crusaderofrock Ain't that the truth!
If you wanna hear the best voice in metal, Dio is your man. Songs that are strongly reccomended:
Rainbow - Stargazer
Black Sabbath - Heaven and Hell
Dio - Holy Diver
All of these are sung by the God of Metal...
P.S. Nice video, UP THE IRONS!!!
If your looking for instrumentals try, Joe Satriani's "Surfing with An Alien".
I'm just happy to see a young person take the time to listen to and learn about metal. This is awesome!!!!

Maiden was definately metal where as early Metallica is commonly considered more of a speed metal.
Thrash metal, actually. They were among the pioneers of the genre.
Never apologize for what you like or don't like .Maybe after a revisit you'll like it more , maybe not .Let her hear Megadeth Holy Wars , but remind the young one that its " thrash "
I'm going to suggest battle beasts Let It Roar
Incredible song. A man sits in a cell awaiting his own execution.
I love how both the lyrics and the music go through the five stages of grief, starting with disbelief and bargaining, then moving to anger, sadness and finally acceptance.
I'm quite sure, that she would have liked Fear of the Dark Live in Rio much more. Not a good choice to introduce Iron Maiden to a teen.
Flight 666 version is better, though
Great! :D Btw saw them live too 2 years ago at the sonisphere festival ^^
And I'm sure they still rock like 40 years ago!
ChemicalReactions! Oh hell yea!
Bruce Dickerson’s first year with the band
Goddamn spellcheck, it is Bruce DICKINSON
He brought Iron Maiden to the mainstream. Like Steve Perry did for Journey.
Next song
Iron Maiden - Fear of the dark (Live in Rock in Rio 2001)
MEGADETH - HOLY WARS THE PUNISHMENT DUE !
Juliette looks a lot like lead guitarist Sonia Anubis of the all female power metal band Burning Witches. They have a Judas Priest meets Warlock 80s vibe, lead singer Seraina Telli even sounds like Doro Pesch. You should check them out, Hexenhammer or Black Widow are excellent tunes, you can find them on Nuclear Blast Records channel. They also have decent covers of Judas Priest's Jawbreaker and Holy Diver by Dio.
