Circle Of Death 💀
That made me sub#8,493🤘🏽
I’ve seen comments from others wanting in on C.O.D.💀 , I love it! Let’s get that circle growing🤘🏽
We got him people!!!!
@@ChemicalReactions Nice one, you pulled that smooth haha, shoutout to yall, keep up the great reactions! :)
Yosh
@@ChemicalReactions Circle of DEATH 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘. Im in!!!!
@Salty Kraken Woohoo!
The cross Tony Iommi is wearing was made by Ozzy's dad he made one for the whole band to protect them while they were on the road
Your daughter is exceptionally well-schooled in history. 👏
Just thought the same. She gave nice comments about the time and what happened around that time and seemed to be aware how the music fitted around that time period.
Not so common these days -.-
If you follow these reactions you'll notice that she seems well educated in just about everything. You don't see many girls like her on UA-cam these days. 😁
Most likely they very well researched their history to be able to palce such comments and facts.
So they wouldn't go blindly into a video about a band without having atleast SOME information.
LichLordOfFlames I read the Wikipedia on Black Sabbath and regurgitated it before the song. Everything after the song starts are our off the cuff musings. Juliette is currently taking AP US History and AP European History so she has these things close in mind.
Sabbath was never a satanic band, in fact Toni Iommi has stated he's worn a cross for every gig he's ever play'd.
Ozzy said in one of his books that there were a ton of people particularly in the south bible belt area in particular that thought they were satanists. He noticed a group of them with candles outside of their hotel so he went down and sang happy birthday blowing out the candles lol Savage!
After Forever
Damn right, just listen to After Forever...
Wonder when the 'Prince of Darkness thing came along? Guessing the satanic music industry:(
@@Free-flyBE Marketing
Don't overlook Geezer on bass filling the whole bottom and as busy as Bill Ward!
That hand speed is crazy :D
"He's English.... it's a joke."
It's no joke.. I live there.
Lance Tracy 😂
Was gonna say this 😂😂
Bill Ward is a monster! He was always one of my favorite drummers, but, after seeing this performance, he goes to number one.
Classic British rock at its finest 🤘
Black Sabbath were NOT a Satanic band. The ultra-conservative religious fraternity basically misinterpreted Black Sabbath's music and stuck that label to them. The bassist, Geezer Butler, was / is Catholic and was really upset about being called Satanic. As a response, Black Sabbath recorded one of the most religious songs I've ever heard! If I can find it, I'll add it here.
EDIT: Here you go.. ua-cam.com/video/-9ZEoz6L00E/v-deo.html I knew I'd seen it somewhere!
G H I know. Our comments were very tongue in cheek.
@@ChemicalReactions Hah, ya' fooled me! 'Tis amazing how many people still believe it though, even to this day.
Damn right. They should listen to After Forever...
One song out of how many? Then there's this, although more can be found, ...
www.theguardian.com/music/2013/jun/06/black-sabbath-cocaine-private-plane
No, the ultra-conservatives didn't misinterpret the band, the members misinterpreted their (Catholic) religion, "Everything is permissible, but not everything is beneficial" - 1 Cor 10:23
As for their (Catholic) religious claims - 2 Cor 11:12-14, unless drugs, tattoos, and promiscuity is/was their (Catholic) religion. They had a large following, so the quesion for me is: "Are you doing one or more of these three partly because of BlackSabath influence?"
@Atheos B. Sapien
I don't know what you're taking, but it ain't working, lol. Talking about BlackSabath admitting to drugs, sex, and tattoos, your strawman attack on me just shows you know what they did, and what kind of culture they promoted. Doesn't mean I don't like their music.
Bill Ward did not use a double bass drum pedal That was done by 1 foot
holys hit
Tim Harmon wow!!
@@sidneylacroix204 that was a high hat pedal
and a small kit at that he he had that kind of sound coming out like that wow
@@sidneylacroix204 His left foot was clearly on the hi hat pedal, and there's only one beater on the kick drum.
He doesn't have double pedals btw lol he's just bouncing that high-hat and the rest on the snare
Yeah don't think the double pedal was even invented then. Later on Bill added a 2nd bass drum
I was looking for this comment... that it's not a double bass pedal but that it was for the high hat
I did wonder that.
@@tamadrummer1nz keith moon was doin double bass back then
Big fat, thick distortion, overdrive, is what Black Sabbath brought to our ears. Along with the "evil" sounding chord changes, heavy distortion hadn't been heard much, [a few exceptions}
That's what wormed into my 13 yr old brain when I first heard War Pigs. I'd heard Zeppelin and others, but the sound of the guitar's distortion, and along with the power and intensity and mood, is what made Sabbath unique, and how heavy metal came about.
Along with occasional down tuning.
@@lucypoopies Right. I didn't think of that. Downtuning really brought in a new layer of heaviness.
I saw them twice, in 1970 and 71, on their second and third album tours. I remember thinking that they played exactly like their studio albums. And Ozzy jumping around with bare feet. Huge sold out concerts both times. Saw them at The Forum in LA.
I saw Sabbath live in 1973. They were unbelievable.
Holy cow!
It actually was the bass-player Geezer Butler that came up with the idea of using the name Black Sabbath for the band. He also is an important part of the writing of lyrics.
Btw, BS is not satanic or "the music of the devil". The devil themed image is first of all a style created out of an interest in occult mysticism. Check out the lyrics on After Forever. I think you would be suprised.
I used to play Black Sabbath Volume IV on third shift.
I'm sure some people already commented this but that wasn't a double pedal.
But double bass drums were used in the 60s. Double bass drums were popularized in the 1960s by rock drummers like Ginger Baker of Cream, Mitch Mitchell of the Jimi Hendrix Experience, Keith Moon of The Who and Nick Mason of Pink Floyd.
Now, some more suggestions for future "School of Metal" reactions: Deep Purple, Rainbow, Judas Priest, Saxon, Kiss, Diamond Head, Motörhead, Manowar, King Diamond, Alice Cooper, Scorpions, Def Leppard, Nazareth
Just a note: The girl you're referring to wasn't on fire. She had been burned by napalm and was photographed running down a road. There is a very famous photograph of a monk that set himself on fire in protest.
Your daughter has a very good history teacher if they're not only using the textbook but, also incorporating the music of the time. Sounds like a class I would have looked forward to when I was in school.
Thank Black Sabbath for the metal we know today.
Blind guardian- bard song & valhalla live
It's two songs in one video but it shows both ends of the spectrum, their really soft stuff, and their heavy stuff and is really good for people new to their music tbh
Plus the crowd is insane
YES! UPVOTE THIS!
I second this!!!!!
could not agree more!!! Absolutely love it

The amazing thing about Tommy Iommi is they before they started recording, he lost the tips of two of his fingers in an industrial accident. The accident happen just before he quit.
It's actually 'Tony' Iommi
The accident occurred well before Sabbath, even before his time in Jethro Tull. He was 17 when it happened.
That's not a double bass drum pedal, one of the pedals is for the hi-hat.
Úr daughter seems to be more and more of a metalhead very educated in history . Keep on rocking
“His skin is so pale”
-
“His English”😂😂😂
8:45 those lyrics (and others later) are a little different from what ended up on the album.
9:55 very astute observation, bravo. You're exactly on point
12:00 one of those pedals is for the hi hat my friend
Craven Rule of thumb for our channel: Juliette makes the factual points; Chuck often messes up the simplest things! 🤪
-Chuck
Craven is right. I'm so used to the lyrics on the album (Paranoid) that it threw me off. This performance is almost 6 years before the album they released this song on.
6 months maybe. Not 6 years. Paranoid album was released in September of 1970
I thought the same thing but I wasn't sure. Threw me off too. But either way Bill Ward is still beating the shit outta the drums lol
Ginger baker had a double bass set up in 1966
Love the analysis. This is one of the best filmed live performances ever. I don’t know how they could play any other songs after this given the energy expended.
I didn’t get to see them back then (as I’m 38 and wasn’t around) but I did get to see them 3 times at ozzfest with the original lineup and this song live with today’s sound tech is UNREAL!!! Got goosebumps all three time. “I am in the presence of legends!!” Lol
Such a killer live performance. Bet they went thru some drum heads. Check out KISS Black Diamond 1975 live.
No double base drum
No satanistic intentions
Just bad a** rock music, love it
My dad knew them back then. I'm 56 now and remind everyone that this was completely off the wall in 1970. Playing live; no clever tech or mixing boards. Just pure skill and energy. Timeless. Priceless.
That first "evil riff" is called a tritone interval, in music theory is literally called "Diabolus in Musica". Look it up!
Raimbow - Stargazer is the next logical step.
Up!
Yes please.
absolutely
The "I can't hear you" comments in the last few videos keep cracking me up :') awesome reaction to one of my all time favourite songs!
Great video! We actually have the exact same show lined up for today so that’s a hilarious coincidence, lol! Loved your guys’ Lateralus video by the way!! 😁
Andy & Alex don’t do this version. Do the studio version. Lyrics are more powerful and better constructed.
@Darrell Beam
I did the studio version I want to say like 7 or 8 months ago? And people have been telling me to check out this live version since! I agree with what you’re saying, the studio really does capture the feeling of the song in terms of the lyrics and the projection of the instrumentals. This live version does a good job though! 🔥👌🏻
Bill ward is using one pedal for the hi hat and the other pedal for the bass. These guys all used to 15 mins from where i live and are by far my favourite band. I went to their last ever gig in birmingham and it was amazing to see they still have it.
Awesome vid guys. Black Sabbath is my favorite band of all time and they have at least 30 more songs worth listening to. Hope to see more sabbath from you guys soon. 😁
Those shirts are Dope!!!! Havent watched the entire video yet but I'm already liking it!!
I like ChemSquad! You two have a great relationship, heckin' awesome t-shirts, and a great attitude and openness to new music :)
A great reaction video to (possibly) my favorite song by (definitely) my all-time favorite band!
After Black Sabbath, Deep Purple is next, I'd suggest either Burn or Highway Star from their California Jam 1974 live show
If they do purple then there is only one song and that is child in time LIVE!
Loved the audio on that recording! Really heavy!
ELECTRIC FUNERAL- BLACK SABBATH
Would be a great one for you two to react to
The Apartment Woodturner electric wizard, too, to see how Sabbath spawned not just metal, but stoner metal specifically
Blind Guardian - Valhalla (Imaginations Through the Looking Glass)
This and about 10 other Blind Guardian songs 😊
@@meganega123 which Blind Guardian songs are not to like? ^^
Don't subject your viewers to Blind Guardian. Their music is a joke. It's meant for little kids. Their along the same line as Nightwish. Please react to Tool. Music by adults for adults.
@@scottballinger40 they did react to Tool. Also I've never seen a kid at a Blind Guardian show.. do they have a show on PBS I'm not aware of?
@@scottballinger40 they're more like iron maiden than nightwish lol
Not like nightwish is even tht bad
hours later: minute 30: "should we start our own metal band?
Pls do so! I'll be here to watch!
Heaps of love from the far north of Germany!
Good song pick and review. I smile every time I see you two on my notifications!
I want to see some metal and flags in the background! Make that room a Circle of Death headquarters! #cheers
Always the best analysis on this channel.
I enjoyed watching you enjoy it, and not everyone spends time breaking down the lyrics, I'll have to watch you more often
YOU ABSOLUTELY NEED TO REACT TO PANTERA, EITHER CEMETERY GATES OR THIS LOVE
Thanks for checking out this reaction! What did you thing about the performance and the reaction? What should we do next week for School of Metal?
Shadow Maker by Lovebites - let's have some more Japanese metal in this house!
@ChemicalReactions!
Love your channel guys! Very genuine!! I’d love to see you show her Hanger 18 by Megadeth! Cheers friends! 😁🔥
Good choice on the live performance. This is one of the better quality videos of Sabbath live. Maybe some Pantera for next week?
Have to do some Led Zeppelin
Great reaction again guys 👍
Rich man's war, poor man's fight has been the reality for centuries. And yes, many, many songs have been sung about it in many genres.
90% 🤘🍅 for me.
SoM suggestions:
Iron maiden - afraid to shoot Strangers or. Powerslave
Slayer - dead skin mask. Or. Raining blood
Megadeth - Symphony of Destruction or. Sweating bullets
Yes, even now (at least 1 year ago) Ozzy is incredible live on stage, he is pure energy and fun
Ozzy is awesome!
Saw him with Zakk Wylde (my favorite musician ever) and it was fantastic.
@@brunoAM I agree, I saw him with wylde too 1 year ago, he is the best guitarist live that I have ever seen
@@ALECLF He is! And i got to meet him in person in 2015! The dude is SOOOO humble.
Another song about the topic (Poor man's fight, rich man's war) is You 're in the army now by Status Quo.
Great reaction. Love seeing our youth jamming to the greats
Black Sabbath, the beginning . Remember these guys were only 21-22 yrs old here. Great reaction guys
WOW, Juliette definitely has the gray matter to be a metal fan! Enjoy the journey girl!
14:15 I'm English and I literally thought of the exact same comeback 'He's English' after she said that haha. It's cold and cloudy here cut us some slack.
Okay girl you might find Prince in your life but your dad will always be the king. Good job guys . 👍🏽💯💛
Definitely a new sub. This is parenting done right!
And Ward beat those drums like they owed him money...
Love the sarcasm at the beginning! :-D
Ginger Baker. of 'Cream' was one of those who first introduced the double bass drum
your daughter seems really cool!! i got into metal two years ago when i was 16. it’s the best choice that i’ve made for myself. have fun transitioning her into a full on metal head 🤘
Heeey.. nice shirts. Chem squad for life. !!
You should do many Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath songs. All of metal derives in some way from these two bands. 'Good Times Bad Times' is a good place to start.
I'd throw Deep Purple in there too. They coined and pioneered the prog metal band lineup
Show her Cemetery Gates by Pantera
deep purple child in time also from 1970, there is a live version on utube from the time
Even 50 years ago BS was way cooler than majority of today's "heavy metal" bands
Good job as usual.I am 52 and I was 4 years old when this came out,but my cousind had paranoid on vinyl.grew up with this band always somewhere in my soundtrack.
My second favorite Black Sabbath song.
She shows wisdom beyond her years. Great reaction and analysis.
Circle of death sounds like a bloody metal band hahahah I love your channel guys ! and I gonna subscribe to your channel because it contents very good stuff !!
Nice reaction and I am new but impressed by the historical knowledge that both of you have on an era that before your time. I was just a kid in the 60s but a teen in the 70s and grew up with Black Sabbath. Do more old school hard rock. I enjoyed it.
As a kid in the early 80s a School pal of mine .Played Paranoid on his guitar and small box.In his bedroom. No music sheet. Heard it once and started to jam. Been a Meatal fan since.
Imagine what it was like being 13 years old in 1970 hearing this for the first time! It's difficult to put into words that feeling but I was instantly a fan when I heard it! I knew it was something different that I had never heard before!
i would like to see you react to Dio holy diver
Good parenting. That music punches right into the soul. When it's in there that's the music you'll be attached to forever, or ecclectic. My daughter heard Ozzy at 5 and I raised her on that and classic rock she's 15 now.
Geezer Butler with a fantastic job writing the song, and excellent drumming by Bill Ward. Bill Ward, was so amazing on this track, one of the best drum tracks ever. This must be a very early version of the song because the lyrics are slightly different in some parts.
Those t-shirts are truly great. Also, please try some Polish metal, like KAT. They have a lot of great songs, but one of my favourites is Purpurowe Gody which means purple festivities (I guess?). I'd love to see you reacting to this song.
Take care. Luv ya.
P.S. Circle of death sounds nice, but IMO "Mosh Pit" sounds more like fun.
It's lovely to see this monstrous song touch the souls of a new generation. It may not be the greatest song ever written but it is an important and relevant one.
Daughter is listening to the words(message). Dad is listening to the drums. Both play off of one another. I love it. This was 50 years ago, :)
AMORPHIS - Amongst Stars ??? You would love it
Metal Church; Beyond the Black... one of the most overlooked metal records of all time (self-titled) ~ you will absolutely love it.
Second that, metal church: beyond the black
Metal Church!
Your history class must be lit listening to fortunate son!! 🤘
Wow! A great reaction again. I'm extremely impressed with your daughter's knowledge of political and music history. Most teens today know very little to nothing about Vietnam and the late 60's and early 70's music scene. 👍 to her.
So cool -and rare - to see other dads not only listening to great music with their kids, but also having meaningful discussions together. Keep up the great videos!
Oh, and Sabbath were never really "satanists", War Pigs is a brilliant anti-war song, and other songs that delve into darker subjects always paint them in the proper negative light.
You guys should react to black sabbath behind the wall of sleep live in Paris 1970 it's so groovy and bill makes it heavy
With the double bass drum thing you’re right, he’s not using one he’s just keeping time with both feet, one on the hi hats and one on the bass drum. I thought that too when I first watched this though
Great reaction guys. I think you both look totally badass in your new t-shirts. You guys should absolutely start your own metal band, with Chuck on bass and Juliette on harsh vocals. I'd pay to see you live ! Yes, even Ozzy was young once. Cheers from your Chem-Squaddie Pete in Australia.
The originators, the pioneers and the best damn band ever to grace this planet. Bought their first album at 10 years old and 46 years later they're still my go to band!
Cool nice you two ! I saw this band in Liverpool in 77 I think . On a par with Zeppelin of the early 70’s live . Thanks
Chuck Bill ward is actually using the pedal on his hi-hat. the double kick pedal wasn't really used until Overkill by the mighty Motorhead when Phil 'Philthy Animal' Taylor utilised it
You're right!
Gotta take a closer look at Overkill with Philthy IMO
Absolutely classic song and performance - great video and review guys - and you should def start a metal band! 🤘👍

So many songs I could suggest for you to review... lol look forward to your next review 👍
I haven't even got to the video that they were reacting to, and I like them.
Lovely father and daughter pair. Congratulations.
You guys really need to check out the album version Ozzy really screwed the lyrics up on the live version! On the album the lyrics are really intense and timeless!!🤟🤟 Rock On! I actually had the pleasure to see them 3 times twice with Ozzy once with Dio!
I was thinking these were early lyrics, but I think Ozzy said it was already out. Interesting lyrics leaving that "they leave that all to the poor" part.
The appearance of a double kick pedal came in 1924 with the advent of the heel operated Frisco double bass drum pedal.
I first heard that long solo in 1974 and was convinced

This gig had been doing the rounds as "Live In Paris" since the seventies, while it was actually recorded in the Paris Theatre in Brussels, Belgium in a co-production between French And Belgian TV stations.
Really?
@@ChemicalReactions Yep. I only found out when buying the 2016 Super Deluxe Edition of the Paranoid album which has the concert on one of the bonus discs and the included booklet says it was recorded in Brussels. I had a vinyl bootleg copy of the concert in the seventies called "Live In Paris", however, without any liner notes.
Also, the song "After Forever" by Sabbath would be a HUGE surprise to you.
awesome shirt !!!!
Cant imagine what it would be like to have witnessed this live wouldn't have metal without them
