  • In this recording, Ian Cameron of Action Society engages with BizNews Community members who attended the conference at Drakensberg Sports Resort in March 2023. The crimefighting activist is typically forthright in his responses, sharing an untold story which explains so much about the country's decline into a nation where criminals fear no consequences. BizNews founder Alec Hogg hosted him.
    TIMESTAMPS.

    01:22 On the captured SAPS and clean-up required to get South Africa on the right track

    06:32 On whether the ruling party is deliberately keeping the crime rate high in the Western Cape to reflect badly on the DA's governance
    09:03 On Gayton McKenzie's BNC#5 presentation and Q&A
    10:20 On the Patriotic Alliance's campaign to attack gang criminality in the Cape Flats
    12:10 On the solutions to South Africa's chronic crime rate

    very good strategies, i would also add incentives for tip offs that leads to conviction, a standard. a lot of these crimes happen in front of community members, they just don't have the moral ground or motivation to report it, it must be done in a smart way because most of the cops are collaborating with the criminals, all off these strategies can ensure a better south africa for our kids because it has already failed us

    A Socialist Regime doesn't like to see people educated, because educated people are empowered. I.e. Have the power of knowledge in their hands to progress...So it boils down to this. Those who are well educated will take back their power. This brings fear into the ruling parties. Because if U ignorant and depressed U will be a good voter for the party in power. To give U an example. Many years ago I was living in Rhodesia and when Mugabe came to power my neighbour's garden boy over night became the chief minister of police... Hah. This is how a Marxist/Socialist state functions...everything and everyone remains captured... This unfortunately is no brainer...hah

    Ian devolution is not the answer. Perhaps because you live in the Western Cape where it's nicer devolution could mean complete autonomy from an ANV govt in all respects. However I do not trust that narrative. This sounds a lot like the idea of Wexit. Where the Western Cape becomes a country unto itself. This country has a deep history of segregation and racial oppression and to open that wound again is to be completely oblivious to the recent past many people have lived through. Now, you say the Western cape is great and you laid the K9 unit etc and say how professional the cops are there. If that were true Bheki Cele as wouldn't be there ina public hall discussing the issues those women are going through. Cape Town is a murder capital. It's gang infested. The police are unprofessional, I was abused by a police officer inside the Cape Town police cells in Buitenkant by a policeman that pepper sprayed me inside the cells. That's not professional at all. The cops are rotten to the core and it requires a complete overhaul, removal of its Generals and a new crop come in who deal decisively with these gangster's. There need to be political will indeed. Simply devolving will only localise the issue even further. Bring in a top cop from Gauteng to handle the drugs and gangs so they have no vested interest and can't be corrupted. Pay the police more , that stops these bribes they are taking, arrests must be made public in a public registry so there's less catch and release bullshit. We need to be more creative than simply say devolve everything. What about those who live in Gauteng, Limpopo, do we not care about them too?

    • @danceswithwolves7085
      @danceswithwolves7085 Рік тому +3

      A number of good points but paying cops more doesnt guarantee that they wont take bribes, its a gamble that might go horribly wrong.

    • @Moyopheus
      @Moyopheus Рік тому +3

      @@danceswithwolves7085 I think for people who get shit and killed everyday and put themselves in the line of danger and into the register of criminals they need to be paid a decent amount of money so they can easily buy themselves a house, get a car and send their kids to school. I've seen the payslips of tenured police men and women. They are paid very little. In 2017 or so this figure was about 15k. That's less than a sales person fresh out of varsity in a call center. I'm tired of paying people for a cooldrink and a gift Rand here and there. It can't be that their corruption takings are more than their job. They clearly don't see the risk of losing a decent paying job for some bribe money. If they were paid different they would behave differently. This is an economic argument akin to saying that an educated person is less likely to commit crime because of the opportunity they have than one who isn't educated.

    • @Moyopheus
      @Moyopheus Рік тому +2

      @@danceswithwolves7085 It's also not the only thing I'm suggesting, you have to do all things simultaneously and have a professional police service. One way to do this is to take people in from private security companies who already have the skills the know how and training. Some kind of public private partnership will be required here and a few laws will need to change to give SOME teeth to private security, especially in the instance that a crime has just taken place. They are often there at the scene before the police.
