MK6 Jetta Gets a Downpipe (CTS High Flow Cat)

- In this train wreck of a video, I install a CTS Turbo high flow cat downpipe on my MK6 Jetta. I've found that this downpipe and catback combo is somewhat rare, so if you have questions about it let me know. Sound clips at the end.
Glad I found this video. I just installed the awe track exhuast on my gli two days ago and I’m not satisfied with the sound. It doesn’t sound much different from the stock exhuast. I was thinking of getting a cts turbo downpipe and this video is exactly what I needed because I didn’t wanna buy it without hearing what the combo of both the exhuast and downpipe sound like. It sounds pretty sick so I’m probably gonna order one this weekend. Thanks for uploading this video man!
No problem. There's plenty of videos of the catless and track catback, but none with the high flow cat downpipe!
I totally agree with you I'm not satified with the sound on my 1.4T and i just got the AWE Track Edition as well I'm thinking of removing one of the resonators towards the front. I don't have a downpipe or tune yet but Air Intake is my next go to, then Downpipe then Tune directly after, hopefully it will sound alot better I'm crossing my fingers for you and me both. Goodluck my fellow VW friend.
@@squarestateboys6467 Have you or GTR 709 noticed any exhaust pops with your High Flow Cat if you rev match or at higher RPM?? Or is it just noticabely gone? I love me some crackles and pops... Just curious, im trying to decide which to go with, but this sounds great man, love the sound of it, really hard to decide personally. I know mines gonna sound way different because obviously different motor but I'd love to hear your opinion?
@@AbnormalityTV hey sorry I’m responding so late to your comment but sadly there is no crackles or pops I even ran the downpipe connected to nothing and all I had was a few little burples at low rpms. The sound combined is amazing with the two combined. One problem I ran into though was that the downpipe wasn’t long enough to fully connect to my exhaust. That’s why I ran it not connected to anything for awhile. About 3 weeks ago I finally put it all on because I had my fun being obnoxiously loud.
@@AbnormalityTV good luck on it bro I’m sure you’ll be satisfied with it. The combo of the downpipe and exhaust sound amazing and good thing you’re gonna get tune I still haven’t done that yet 😅 do I’ve just been running with the check engine light on.
Sick video
Been debating a downpipe for a while now. I have a borla catback on my 18’ GLI and had been waiting to see what the combo would sound like. I’m definitely getting this setup now it sounds amazing.
I have the borla cat back as well and just got the cts downpipe and highflow cat. how did it turn out for you???
@@alexhayden4917 got a CTS turbo downpipe on my borla catback and couldn’t be happier. Every cold start makes me smile, every upshift has a nasty pop and every downshift sounds amazing. The turbo noise is noticeable and exactly what you want. Doesn’t sound riced out or raspy at all. Buying a quality part like that only hurts until you put it on. Completely transforms the car and worth every penny.
thank you bro i got that exhaust rn about to order the downpipe
That “chamber” as you call is where the turbo connects the the stock downpipe is also a catalytic converter, our cars have 2 cats, some extra precious metals for you lol
Makes more sense now lol
This is the sound i want. Sporty when accelerating but quiet enough that is not Ricer. I want a downpipe to go stage 2 but i dont want the drone so i would leave the resonator alone and stock exhaust. The downpipes ive found supercheap are catless so idk how loud that would be vs catted
Not sure either, I got a piece coming from CTS that only replaces the catted part. So you could order catless, and if you don't like it, easily swap that part for a high flow cat.
Drone is mild at highway speeds. I have some sound deadening I'm going to line the trunk with to see if that will help.
Nice!
Alright that’s it, I’m doing too! 🙌🏽🙏🏽💯
I have a corsacatback, def getting the cts downpipe now
Good choice
It’s funny you said it drops revs on cold starts. I notice my 17’ GLI does the same if it’s under 40 degrees.
Yeah, it's strange. Sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't. I'll see if it's because of the temp, never thought to see if that's why
@@squarestateboys6467 mine always revs higher at start then lowers to normal after a minute maybe less I don’t really count I just know it does it 🤣
Hey man I got my mk6 1.8t recently and was going to go with a awe exhaust but wasn’t sure how the drone would be with the track exhaust. How was the difference in drone with just the exhaust and with the downpipe. Great vid man!
No drone with just the Track catback. Drone is worse being catless, but was totally manageable with the high flow cat. If you're on the highway the only drone is right around 2k-2.7k RPM in my car. Unsure if the 1.8t will be much different but thats my 2 cents
@@squarestateboys6467 thank you I appreciate the reply one more thing if you remember what did you use for attacking the V band clamp just got my downpipe and trying to get set up and not have trouble when I start
What Year is the car???
This may seem like a silly question, but how many cats are in the stock down pipe, and the one you installed? i’m looking to get one, but it seems like there are two cats in the stock, and only one in the high flow.
Correct. Stock downpipe has 2, only one in the downpipe.
Did you notice an an increase in throttle response, bit more torque/power at higher RPMs ?
A little bit... All I noticed was a bit more in the mid range but not much else
My son wants this, good sound and good video where did you order this from and how much was it ? Thanks
I ordered it from Urotuning, runs about 700 with the black tips.
2 questions
1. do you have a rattling sound? or maybe it is just really loud drone I have a basically the same exhaust setup
2. Did the bracket under the downpipe location fit? My exhaust hanger didn't line up at all.
I did have a rattling. One of the bolts I for the bracket had bad thread and got a new bolt which fixed it. It droned a bit but not too bad imo. It's possible your hangar is upside down, I made the same mistake when installing.
Would like some clips of the video following the car, are the turbo sounds fairly noticeable?
A bit, only at low rpm tho
Did the downpipe come with the O2 sensor spacer & is it required for installation?
If you're tuned you shouldn't need a spacer, but the one I have was not included
How loud is it? i have the awe track stock downpipe and it’s not loud enough for my taste at high rpm and my IE catted downpipe is going to be installed thursday
That will be a great combo. I wish I didn't go with a CTS downpipe, but I even want a bit louder. Drones a bit around 2.5k-3k for me but that's the only issue I have with it
Hello there I have a 2015 jetta tsi and I was wandering if I can pass emissions with this kit. Did you have any issues at all after installing the downpipe
I don't have emissions where I live. The spacer for the sensor didn't trip the CEL, but I doubt it would have passed emissions
Do you have to go stage 2 for the downpipe im currently at a stage 1.5 tune.
Nope. I'm not tuned
Would this fit on Audi A3 2015 and does the engine light come on?
Not this specific downpipe but I would be surprised if CTS didn't make a downpipe for that. Engine light hasn't been an issue with the O2 sensor spacer
Hey man nice video, is your car 1.8 or 1.4tsi?
It's a 2.0
How did you connect the downpipe to the cat back, isn't the downpipe half an inch wider?
The downpipe comes with a conversion pipe that fits right up
@@squarestateboys6467 I just got my downpipe and the conversion pipe is 3-2.25" for the stock exhaust. Do you just have a 2.25" pipe in between the downpipe and cat back?
I have the AWE cat back which is a 2.5" diameter, so not sure what you need to connect to the stock exhaust.
Do you have a Tune or are you just running a Catback & High Flow Catted Downpipe?
No. Just downpipe and catback
@@squarestateboys6467 how has it been running?
@@prestonbarnes8306 I wanna know also 🤔
hello I would like to know where you bought that downpipe if you send me the link thanks

Do you have an exhaust smell through your air conditioner vents?
I do and I can't figure out why
Check engine light?. And do you need a stage 2 tune?. For the light?? And do you need to refill gas with premium gas or still on mid grade.
I have an O2 sensor spacer. Got a CEL once, haven't had it since. Always premium gas, and not tuned
@@squarestateboys6467 so you haven’t received a check engine light?. After installing the sensor spacer.? And i don’t need a tune?. I have a mk7 Jetta. And I want to do a dp 3” catted CTS and a luft technik air intake and a hks bov that’s all for now. But i don’t want a check engine.
@@squarestateboys6467 can you get me that part number for the sensor spacer
Make more Jetta videos bro!!!
Trying to!
Can you please make a POV driving vid??
I'll post one soon, I have a few clips but only with a catless downpipe
Is your gli tuned or no?
Nope, not tuned. Clutch would say no thanks
Can I get the link to get that same exhaust
Downpipe can easily be found on CTS Turbos website, and the AWE catback on urotuning
I know what I must do
Is there a tune on the car?
No tune.
Send the link to get one of those bro 👍🏼

would this fit on the mk6.5 facelift?
Not sure. Very easy to find out yourself
Did you end up doing it? I just ordered the cts downpipe and I have awe track exhaust on the mk6.5 gli, does it fit? I’ll find out soon
Did the downpipe throw a check engine light?
I have the O2 sensor spacer that urotuning makes, CEL came on once but I cleared it and hasnt come back on since.
@@squarestateboys6467 and your downpipe pretty much was a direct fit?
Yeah, direct fit. I recommend getting a new gasket for the part of the downpipe that mates with the turbo though. Mine was crushed and was giving me an exhaust leak.
@@squarestateboys6467 alright bet, appreciate the input bro
No problem man let me know if you have any other questions
How much miles per gallon ? After downpipe install
Haven't really noticed a drop in MPGs
