Sincerely hope Saab will get the order and that the Royal NL Navy will be able to purchase 4 (instead of the 3 envisaged right now). The Rheinmetal alternative in my view is pretty good as well, though I am not certain if the diameter of the hull is the same and will sustain extended periods of patrolling, the accomodation of special forces (for insertion/extraction) and a seizable weapons load out. As for the French design (Barracuda based for the Royal Australian Navy) I'm not so convinced. As with the Collins-class the approach il likely to spiral in terms of cost and planning due to RAN-specific demands.
Collins-class did not spiral out in cost. By 2006, A$5.071 billion had been spent to build the submarines (excluding the fast track program); after taking inflation into account, the project had run less than A$40 million over contract. When the fast track program is factored in, the Collins class cost just under 20% more than the inflation-adjusted contract value; a smaller increase than other contemporary defence projects. By todays standards these cost-overruns almost looks cheap - just compare F-35.
Pincer88 The Royal Netherlands Navy will acquire 4 submarines. The RNLN has stated that 4 subs is the minimum number it needs in order to always have at least 1 submarine fully operational. They count with 1 sub in maintenance, 1 sub just returning from a mission, 1 sub that is ‘working up’ / preparing for operational duties. And 1 sub at sea.

Saab bought Kockums in 2014 so it's a recent development. Kockums being into ship-yards. The Swedish MBTs are Leopard IIs so German, the CV 90 is a co-operation between Hägglunds and Bofors. Strv 103 (Stridsvagn = Battle wagon = battle tank) was made by Bofors but 81, 101, 101R, 102, 102R, 104, 105, 106 and Bärgningsvagn 81 (rescue wagon 81) was based on the British Centurion. Sweden has also bought Patria 8x8s from Finland in recent time. Before that we've got various military "moving people/equipment/battle" vehicles made by Hägglunds, Volvo and Scania. Archer (artillery) are made by Bofors. The bandkanon / tracked cannon was made by Bofors. So Sweden has built tanks but it haven't been SAAB who has been building them. Bofors is pretty large too. Clue: WWII history thoughts us. On 10 May 1940, the German army invaded the Netherlands. It was the start of five days of fighting that resulted in the occupation of the Netherlands. In any possible conflict i.e. sphere of interests between super-powers, a smaller country may find itself drawn into conflict (despite itself say it want's to be neutral), it's always the aggressor who decides if it respect it or not. It's difficult to predict future flash-points -- but it's better to make the price high such that "borrowing" some land is an unattractive option or it become time consuming and does not give any tactical advantage.
