I can barely manage to get 4 people on one flight 3x a year. I can't imagine the logistics of 100's of team members in multiple locations. Hats off to you and your crew!
No that Difficult really as they have Ritz Carlton (Part of Marriott International) as partners and sponsors, They also have an agreement with Qatar airlines so that’s the accommodation and travel sorted
@@jonlincoln6069 You've never done travel accommodations for hundreds...trust, its never that easy. Yes they have those things, but that doesn't account for flights being missed, travel being suspended in areas, having to sort out the logistics of swapping people/rooms/cars when those things break down or need to be switched. It's never as easy as okay you have a flight and a hotel. Case in point, I believe one of the drivers in Bahrain had an issue with the rental car, which took two hours, and two vehicles to sort out. Now if you have to check out of a hotel and catch a flight, these can become huge issues...and that's one person or one team of people.

These are great videos! I think it is fantastic to show how multifaceted some of these positions that help support F1 teams are. It also helps those who want a career in F1 who perhaps didn't go into engineering or perhaps think their skill set isn't adequate. The travel manager position seems really interesting and it sounds like she really excels at her job. Thanks for sharing!

We can't imagine how everything must be precisely prepared.
Easy we watch or go to GP but how everthing is organized 'backstage' we don't think about it.

It is always nice to see a fellow travel professional have such a passion for their job/career. People do not understand the possible difficulties we face with getting people where they need to go. But making the magic happen when we need it too utilizing our industry partners and friends worldwide is what it is all about. I would love to one day work with her team. Sounds like a place, where I can actually fit in.

EVERYBODY always bangs on about the race team how good they are ( which is right ) but no one remembers the TEAM behind them i cannot even think about arranging for everybodys hotel and flights etc etc what a fantastic job joanna and her team do the whole mercedes F1 team must be very proud and lucky to have her and her team behind them !!!!!!!

Really liked hearing about a role that you wouldn't immediately think about when thinking about an F1 team. I think it's super interesting to hear about the route into such a role. Your background seems like it leads towards an NHS role or similar, but instead has brought you to Mercedes. Really enjoyed it. More backgrounds please.

I have often wondered who oversees the travel and hotel arrangements for the team. Now I know, so thank you. Maybe you can do another video on transportation and logistics as that must be a nightmare in its own right.

Did that cost cap since 2021 have some impact on Joanna and her team's job? Such as you'd book a premium hotel room before, but since 2021 you'd have to book a standard but cheaper room?
