The video of the Gulf was amazing. I cant tell you how many nights I have fallen asleep to that sound. I grew up in San Antonio but we often went to Corpus Christi as a kid. Omg you three making my off days great so happy for you guys I visited there almost 5 years ago beautiful place drive safe and have a lot of fun, watched all your videos god bless you guys

+LAF filmfest thank you! We had the best time exploring Arizona and Texas along the border..... but I don’t think I would feel comfortable Boondocking in a lot of these locations right now.
Hello from Squaw Lake Northern MN. It was 10 degrees out this morning when I got up today. I came across your video and thought it would be fun to watch, my husband and I were down there 3 months Feb to April and had the best time. We stayed at the K.O.A Park in our RV. We had an incredible time celebrating our retirement, Birthday ( his ) our Anniversary, Holy Week, a wonderful Easter. The Catholic church on the main land was beautiful. We felt welcomed there, as they had a LOT of Seasonal members. I subscribed to your channel today, and look forward to seeing what's next. Take care and God Bless ! Happy Easter to everyone.
Hi guys! Love your videos. Instead of jumping in cold salty water, go to Walmart and get their adult disposable wash cloths. They are big and you only need one and no need to rinse. Happy trails
Hello we have been in Brownsville TX. We didn't care for that town. But love PADRE ISLAND...My Bailey would be in the water. At 65 pounds he loves running and water. ..Roodle and Bailey could swim together.. Stay safe. God's blessings
I lived in Brownsville my whole life, but now I'm only 20 min. away from South Padre. I don't go to SPI often anymore but I pretty much grew up on that beach! My dad would take us to camp out very often! Glad you got to visit and experience the beautiful beach❤
As always hats off for going for it. I am surprised you didn’t let air out when you decided to drive the sand. Lacking your derring-do I am getting a front winch installed this week on the Promaster, Michael’s Folly I call it, to save our backsides when I get over enthusiastic. I hope I never have to use it. For sand I got a Deadman to use with it. Always wanted my own dead man... keep inspiring us to push the boundaries please.
I’m a female subscriber out of Chandler! Arizona. Started watching you when you came through Arizona and than subscribed. Glad to see you wash all that sand and sea salt off the van.
Being 80 yrs old I can say your hubby is so cute and so are you. I just love your photography. My husband and. I stayed there years ago in high top van. So thanks
I was born and raised in Harlingen, which is 45 mins from SPI. It’s my favorite spot , even when growing up. My dad used to take us camping at Andy Bowie park when we were little. It was free back then. I love, love , love South Padre Island. So glad you had a great time!
Way to go guys! This cheered me up a bit, seeing another bucket list destination. So how bad did the boards get ate up? I have the same boards (because you recommended them LOL)
+Dusty Feller traction boards are fine... no additional wear and tear. We REALLY put them to the test in Idaho and cracked one but it still worked perfectly on the beach!
Hello. First, great video and excellent photography. What kind of roof rack do you have? Could you attach your roof rack to the van without putting holes in the roof? Any advice or recommendations are appreciated. Thank you.
Hi Wayne! Our roof rack is made by Topper and we ordered it through AmericanVan.com. The mounts hook to anchors right on the roof so there is no holes in the van. Ours is made of galvanized steel and was 400 dollars plus shipping and handling. We bought extra heavy duty mounts as only 4 come with the kit. We have 8 mounts and can handle over 750 lbs . We love this rack. Make sure you check out the shipping cost as we have heard it can be high.
I was in west Texas along the Rio Grande River border at the beginning of this month before heading to Brownsville and SPI for a week. Thankfully, I was leaving as the illegal immigrants and their COVID-19 cases surged that area. Moved up to La Grange and Lake Tawanoki for my reaming time in Texas before heading to northeast Alabama - just in time for a St. Patty's Day of tornados and flash flooding! Happy to report the Jasper/Arely area were spared and I'm now enjoying my exploration of Bankhead National Forest. HAPPY TRAILS!!!
Nice! We currently in Oklahoma heading to Louisiana for some business then we will head north through Alabama into Tennessee. Do you have any suggestions for Alabama?
@@oneadVANtureatatime thank you, I’ll keep that in mind. I’ve heard southern Texas is a rather humid place, last time I was in Houston I almost fell over when I got off the plane. Don’t really understand how people deal with that every day. 69° and 17% right now here in Southern Arizona.
Nice video, my wife and I were headed to SPI but got stuck in Big Bend National Park during Uri. The weather in SPI looked horrible so we never made it ☹️. We will definitely try again another time.
yeah...it wasn't super warm but we had a few nice days. The water was cold. and Texas was still recovering from Uri. Gas, water, food, and propane was in short supply.
LOL I see the water was too cold for Roodle. Dave "What's the worst that can happen?" Carrie "We could get stuck" Dave: evil laugh The drone chasing the van on the beach was the best!!! What a great unexpected angle!! good job.
Interesting info to know that over 60% of your subscribers are male but most comments are from female...so here is one more comment from a female. Another fantastic video guys. My heart was pounding when you got stuck in the snow from earlier video, now my heart is pounding trying to help you get out of the sand from over here. That was a wild ride on the sand. Love seeing all those horses on the beach and the sound of the ocean is so relaxing. We would love to visit the place one day. If possible list us as td adventures (lower case please). TD Adventures belongs to someone else’s channel, go figure!! See you at the next video. Safe travels.
+td adventures thank you! I will absolutely make the name change! I can’t change it for the next video but it should be fixed after that!!! We couldn’t believe we drove 28 miles up the beach!!!! Only to get stuck when we parked😂😂😂 go figure! Next week we are back on the sand again at a different beach😃
@@oneadVANtureatatime so amazing that you were able to drive 28 miles on the beach!! Can’t wait for your next video and hoping you will get to 30k subscribers soon.
SUCH A BEAUTIFUL VIDEO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I fell asleep watching it last night just because it was so soothing, relaxing... so much peace!!! And I watched it again this morning to be awake for it, so worth it, thank you so much for sharing all that beauty!!!
@@oneadVANtureatatime I love your answer!!!!!!! I love that you are happy! I will be ready to start my own Advanture (in a minivan) by May or June... being that July and August are hot I guess I will have to aim north, still no sure. What would you advise? (I don't thrive in excess heat, not my thing)
YES! One was launched just before we got there. We did go to Boca Chico beach first....the tide was so high because of the storm! We couldnt even get on the beach. But driving by the Space X was really interesting. The 2nd rocket was delayed twice I think, we could wait around. It would have been really cool to see.
I love your spirits and sense of adventure, plus great video and pics of the beach! On another note, I was camping near Sassabe last weekend with a couple of friends. We watched 30-40 immigrants walking through the AZ desert, no families, no children, just men.
Thank You for saying this. We were criticized for adding the warning at the beginning of this video. We would feel terrible if something happened because some one saw our video and went to one of these locations. I glad you are okay and nothing bad happened.
@@oneadVANtureatatime It was late in the afternoon so we were on alert all night and until we left the next morning. One of my friends lives at a remote RV park not too far from Sassabe. He said this has been almost a daily occurrence for the past few months. Apparently, some of the men at the RV park are now patrolling the acreage on 4-wheelers with hopes of deterring any further intrusions. You were smart and considerate to post the warning. If you see something, say something.
Wonderful video of The Island. Word of advise . If you have not washed your under carriage on the can since your visit I would recomend due to the sand .
Another great video! You’ve been so lucky to travel and experience all the amazing sights you’ve seen. You really are livin’ the dream! In a few months my Transit van will be ready for adventure and I can’t wait. Happy trails...😊
Loved the video. I never thought Texas would have a great Beach like this one. I remember Dave once saying that he would like to drive on the beach. Good you did it despite getting stuck it was an experience.
We were surprised as well about the Texas beaches! They are set up very well for the public and we had a great time.Yes, I finally got to get stuck in the sand! I was hoping for a chance to try those traction boards out on the beach 🏖 😀
Now......Did you lower your Tire pressure...??? (Keep a 12V air pump../ rated to at least 60 to 90 PSI.) in your ""Tool box"". Lower the Air pressure to a minimum of 18 to 23 PSI....then "float" On the sand. When you leave the sand back to hard surface....then Air Up your Tire pressure.
I know!! It was scary at first but if you stayed right by the water it was fine. But as soon as you pulled away from the water.....we are going to try a new method we learned for airing down our tires which should help. The front wheel drive is what really hinders us from driving in the sand.
+TheMaineLife even with 10 ply tires and at 8600 pounds? We have a new method of airing down our tires we are going to try next time! We used to air down our tires in our jeep all the time but the van is HEAVY!!
@@oneadVANtureatatime absolutely! I used to run a 35ft 2 wheel drive Class A on the beach on Cape Cod with 10 ply tires. Airing down allows the tires to 'roll" in the sand vs "push" it. Used to run in the deep white dry sand with mine. Not sure on the front wheel drive aspect though...that looks like some great camp spots out on the beach there!!
Great video! We have such great memories of that beach! I’m glad you were able to get your van out on the sand! If we would’ve been there the same time, we’d pull you out! Haha! 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
Right on Jon we appreciate the kind thought. I would make a return trip just for that beach. Some people don't think about beaches when talking about Texas. 😎
Gutsy or stupid? We try not to take chances that could be really stupid. There is a lot of discussion about alternatives before we head out. WE DEFINITLEY Would not try this if it was super secluded.
....my also, my Grandfather was born in Port Isabel, I'm from Brownsville. I haven't visited the area since 1998, or so, I still have a lot of family in Brownsville. Most are crazy GQP nuts 🤨
As one that lives near the Pacific ocean, there is nothing like the relentless power and sound of the water. It's an environment we can not live without. One day we'll move inland, but it's our favorite place to camp and fly kites! Love this!! Is Dave ever anything but smiley!?
Our Friends Gabe and Caroline! You probably saw them is quite a few of our Arizona videos. They are full time nomads living in their truck camper. The both are EXTREMELY talented!
Beautiful place............................but that getting stuck was just awful. I was working so hard to help y'all get out of there! lol Loved seeing Roodle, Blessings
The pictures of the horseback riders in the haze, beautiful, as was the sunset picture. It has always amazed me that your channel does not have over 30K subscribers for over a year now, you two differently deserve it!! Thanks for sharing. Be safe.
Thank you TJ! We appreciate you kind words and have noticed more growth in our channel then usual in the last two weeks. We are so excited to be doing what we love. 😀
Wow guys, great video and story telling. That beach/dune area! Absolutely gorgeous. What a super long beach. Looks like a great place to visit/camp. Driving on the beach...awesome! Fun place. The photos at the end were wonderful. Woohoo on your subscriber goal. I have to know, what is the story behind the little figure hanging from the visor? lol. Nice job on the video!!!!💗
+Lynda Smith thank you! We were so surprised we made it that far down the beach!!! After making it half way there we knew we had to go the whole way! It was a HUGE accomplishment for “storm trooper” (that’s the vans name) which kinda ties in with the little figure hanging from the window. We are Star Wars fans.... so Dave bought us little figurines to hang, he has a storm trooper and I have “Ray” from the newer Star Wars..... just for fun! We have this discussion about why he bought a storm trooper? That is the wrong side of the rebellion!!!! Dave laughs😃 then that leads immediately into “why did you name the van storm trooper?” He says “ I like storms, the van looks like a storm trooper..... therefore the name “storm trooper”! And I (Carrie) day again..... that is the wrong side of the rebellion! And then to be a brat I call the van “Vanna White” 😂😂
Beautiful photography as always! Dave, Thank you for your service! You made me a little nervous of possibly getting caught in the sand and tide. Whew 😅. Thank you for another wonderful video. Laughed when Roodle had the spotlight and got the zoomies. 🐕 🚐
It’s really hard to catch his zoomies!!! I love it when he does that! I know he is happy!! We checked the tide before we went.... I should probably show that😂😂
Enjoying your great adventure contents! I also have Promaster, a 136HT, and have the same roof rack. How did you deal with it howling at highway speeds? What is the plate to the last bar? I'm thinking these roof rack bars are howling at highway speeds. Thanks!
Wow...Scary so close to the Border right now!!! Be safe darlins!! Cool paraglider!! BRRRR 58 degrees, that is colder than the Pacific😳 Too cold for a bath Dave & Roodle, you are tough!!! Great drone footage btw!!!!Awesome sand designs👍 I bet Roodle loves the soft sand underfoot while chasing his ball...loving the Roodle song, so cool they did that for him🤗 He is so stinkin cute..happy dog!!! Ohhhhh Carrie😂😂😂😂 You weren't to sure about driving on the sand!!! That sure is a long stretch of sand highway..28 miles..wow!!! I thought our sand highway was long here in Pismo!!! Thankyou a million times!!! Aurora and I would get along great! I love to collect sea shells!! I bet growing up on a horse farm was fun and ALOT of work!!! I love horses!
That's a beautiful spot. My in-law live in Harlingen do we've spent a lot of time down there. Make sure you clean your van very well when you leave the area, especially the under carriage. The salt content in the water in the Laguna Madre is much higher than in the ocean. It will cause major rust if you don't get it rinsed off. Edit - LOL original comment made before I watched the end of the video.
+Gloria Garza yes! but not during winter storm “URI”. Drinking water wasn’t even available. We have a portable shower but we were conserving our fresh water for drinking only!
Thank you for this video. I love your perspective of sight and sound. If we were there taking pictures and video we would feature the same things. We can almost smell the beach. Nice work
Thank you for another amazing video. Love the educational and camping information you provide in your content. We are surprised with a storm trooper hanging from the window you got stuck! The force was with the traction boards. Too bad no gold or silver washed up at your feet while getting back on the hard pack. Mark & Teresa

Loved your close up photos of the shells
+Jim Goodenough thank you!!!
Another beautiful video & pics! 💜💙🐕
You guys are gutsy....or at least Dave is Ha....I'm stressed just watching.
Gutsy or stupid? We try not to take chances that could be really stupid. There is a lot of discussion about alternatives before we head out. WE DEFINITLEY Would not try this if it was super secluded.
That is my old stomping ground. I'm from about 30 miles from the Island. I spent many weekends & vacations camping there.
....my also, my Grandfather was born in Port Isabel, I'm from Brownsville. I haven't visited the area since 1998, or so, I still have a lot of family in Brownsville. Most are crazy GQP nuts 🤨
Dave you should invest in two more sets of traction boards. It will be less times of trying to get unstuck.
As one that lives near the Pacific ocean, there is nothing like the relentless power and sound of the water. It's an environment we can not live without. One day we'll move inland, but it's our favorite place to camp and fly kites! Love this!! Is Dave ever anything but smiley!?
I(carrie) am always so happy when I am near the ocean!! And Dave is ALWAYS smiling!
Another great video. Who is singing the Roodle song?
Their friends, it is in an earlier video. They have a at least 2 friend couples that are musical one is a theater singer and very beautiful.
Yep!!
Our Friends Gabe and Caroline! You probably saw them is quite a few of our Arizona videos. They are full time nomads living in their truck camper. The both are EXTREMELY talented!
Great episode love the Roodle song
Thank you! Roodle enjoys his song as well. 😀
Beautiful video as always.
Beautiful place............................but that getting stuck was just awful. I was working so hard to help y'all get out of there! lol Loved seeing Roodle, Blessings
I am also a Vet AF.
Thank you for your Service 😃
Haha, what a great story! Love it!💗
The footage of the Ocean is lovely and calming 😌
Loved that you ended by washing your lovely van
OMG i live there so cool
What a nice area...and nice beach!!! I wish the water was warmer while we were there. We will have to come back
We have so many sand dollars from South Padre. Fun times!!!
There we not very many while we were there! Probably a good thing because I love sand dollars and would have picked them up.... I cannot resist!!
I should probably show that😂😂
Beautiful photography
Thanks Harold!
Enjoying your great adventure contents! I also have Promaster, a 136HT, and have the same roof rack. How did you deal with it howling at highway speeds? What is the plate to the last bar? I'm thinking these roof rack bars are howling at highway speeds. Thanks!
we notice some wind noise but no howling. We have a metal plate across most of the front bar. I wonder if this is keeping the howling down.
Wow...Scary so close to the Border right now!!! Be safe darlins!! Cool paraglider!! BRRRR 58 degrees, that is colder than the Pacific😳 Too cold for a bath Dave & Roodle, you are tough!!!
Great drone footage btw!!!!Awesome sand designs👍 I bet Roodle loves the soft sand underfoot while chasing his ball...loving the Roodle song, so cool they did that for him🤗
He is so stinkin cute..happy dog!!! Ohhhhh Carrie😂😂😂😂 You weren't to sure about driving on the sand!!! That sure is a long stretch of sand highway..28 miles..wow!!! I thought our sand highway was long here in Pismo!!! Amazing amount of Booty on those sunk ships!!! Great info Carrie!!! Dave is so pro at getting unstuck👍 Glad you chose to get off the beach🤗😃 so many shells.. Aurora would want to bring home a bucket full... Oh how I love the sound of the ocean💖 Great footage!!! Horses🤠 I grew up on a horse ranch..60 head💖 Ohhh the sunset....wow...those still shots are so beautiful Carrie💖💖💖 Great info about South Padre Island😃 Carrie your hair is so cute back in a ponytail🤗 lol...cuz us gals are always chatty Dave...lol😂🤗💖 Great wash job Dave.. Got to get that sand and salt off the rig!!!
Fun episode..HAPPY TRAILS DARLINS🤠💖
Thankyou a million times!!! Aurora and I would get along great! I love to collect sea shells!! I bet growing up on a horse farm was fun and ALOT of work!!! I love horses!
That's a beautiful spot. My in-law live in Harlingen do we've spent a lot of time down there. Make sure you clean your van very well when you leave the area, especially the under carriage. The salt content in the water in the Laguna Madre is much higher than in the ocean. It will cause major rust if you don't get it rinsed off. Edit - LOL original comment made before I watched the end of the video.
There are places to take free baths.
+Gloria Garza yes! but not during winter storm “URI”. Drinking water wasn’t even available. We have a portable shower but we were conserving our fresh water for drinking only!
i want the ufo beach footage lol
Thank you for this video. I love your perspective of sight and sound. If we were there taking pictures and video we would feature the same things. We can almost smell the beach. Nice work
Thank you Scott! That’s just what we are hoping to do with our videos. Make you feel like you are there. 😀
You guys need to tighten up your Mohawks 😎
we did....roodle still needs a trim though
How sweet that you can get on top of your rig to clean it. 👍
Thanks for taking us along! That was fun!
Gorgeous pictures especially toward the end the sunset the horses UA-cam walking on the beach so cool
Glad to see you washed stormtrooper between the Texas roads and salt and sea salt you got to make sure you don't rush down under there
I GOT TO TELL YOU, SALT WATER DOES NOT MAKE FOR A REFRESHING BATH.
True!!!
Hello. I live in Port Isabel. Just ran across your video. I enjoyed it.
Thank you for another amazing video. Love the educational and camping information you provide in your content. We are surprised with a storm trooper hanging from the window you got stuck! The force was with the traction boards. Too bad no gold or silver washed up at your feet while getting back on the hard pack. Mark & Teresa
ha ha.... the van had to much force (FWD) had to tone it down with the traction boards. Wouldnt it be awesome to find some gold or silver!!!
what are your plans for the summer?
+Steve Beals hoping to explore Colorado 😃
Great pictures at the end Carrie
Thank you Bro! Carrie has been having tons of fun with her Camera lately. Of course I have been having fun getting unstuck 😂
@@oneadVANtureatatime it looks like it lol
Firstly, that was sure full of adventure and I was mighty relieved you didn't get caught in the tide! Great imagery as usual, love it always. Second, there's us two Aussie women I mentioned once before who are subscribers and we only met by chance. Really hope you reach your subscribers target as you really deserve it!👍
Thank you! We do some responsible things like checking the tide first😂 we should probably show that! The tides are pretty minor in this area unless there is a big storm surge! Thanks for watching!!! Australia is on my bucketlist!!
Nice video 👍
Those traction boards are nice. Next time keep your wheels straight so you don't wedge them. Enjoy
28 miles on the beach. wow awesome! Watch out for the shark!!!!!
Very scary getting stuck in the sand on the beach. Maybe it’s just the time of year....
