Cody and Kellie I just wanted to let both of you know that you’ve given me hope while fighting cancer to beat it and travel I really enjoy watching y’all’s videos
Hey folks, if you camp down there from Spring to Fall be sure and watch yourself walking in the grass portions. There are a ton of rattlesnakes in the dunes. Just an FYI...I still love that place and the fishing is great. Enjoy.
Back from 1999 until early 2001, I was homeless in south Texas. I lived on the beach and just moved around now and then. It was my own fault for the position I was in, but if I had to be homeless, I was gonna be homeless on an island going to bed listening to the surf come in every night!
There are also ground squirrels there ,the cyote was after, there are also deer on the island .Yes there is some trash but 90% of it comes in from offshore via ships,Mexico and Mississippi river ,the currents steer it that way .Glad you enjoyed it .
I completely understand you with picking up the rubbish...as an Australian 🇭🇲 in Italy 🇮🇹 I would clean the beach ⛱️ because people just left their rubbish where the were and watched me pick it up ... HELLO TO ALL PEOPLE IN THIS UNIVERSE WE HAVE ONLY ONE WORLD PLEASE RESPECT IT... TAKE YOUR RUBBISH HOME WITH YOU especially in beautiful isolated paradises like this ... ONE PLANET ❤️✌️🙏💜⛱️ Ciao Wendy.
I lost my virginity there on padre island in 1966, 3 families camping together in December Christmas break, we always camped down near the cut in the island where North and South Padre meet.
Welcome to our world! PINS is a great camping location. Yarborough Pass is the only place you can pass over the dunes and access the Laguna Madre to fish in your kayak. Your H3 can do it but should be done with someone else in case you do get stuck. As former Ozarkian dome tent campers, we now stay in our new Airstream Basecamp pulled by my Hummer H3 Alpha. Let us know when you come back down and we’ll attempt Yarborough.
Glad you guys took the trip to the beach. Cameras cannot do justice for the beuty of the moon shining on the water and beach. It just something you have to experience for your self.
Thanks Kellie and Cody... for answering my question to camp on Padre Island National Seashore.... I'm ready now...woohooo.. and what a coincidence... I just ordered my Alps Mountaineering 5/6 person tent.....lol. Enjoy the road.. Texas is BIG !!!!
I have never comment on anyones UA-cam channel, however I must say every time I watch your videos I learn something new, as well as thoroughly enjoy them all. I wish you guys much happiness and success on your traveling journey. Blessings✨
Another fun video ... thank you! On the corner of my tarps I place a quarter, fold it over and twist. Then wrap thick string with a loop and tie off to that loop. Never had that rip.
I camp at South Padre Island all the time!!!! Nothing like falling asleep to the sound of the ocean! I'm a teacher, living in South Texas, looking forward to summer, and this is one of the few places that we have nearby to camp. I'm so grateful because it's some of the best camping I've done!
It is the coldest winter we have had in some time in NC. Definitely enjoyed the balmy day at the beach with you guys. Wish I was somewhere warmer as well.
The mouse and coyote tracks reminded me of The Princess Bride. "There was a mighty duel. They were both masters. Clearly this was all planned by warriors of Guilder!"
The best trip we’ve had in our rooftop tent was this past Christmas camping on the beach at Bolivar Flats, Texas for a week. Having the Joolca makes the sand tolerable. Enjoy guys!
Absolutely love North Padre Island Seashore. I don't have 4 wheel drive so don't drive on that beach but I have tent camped at Mustang Island SP. Wow! I think that was about 3 or 4 years ago and the wind was pretty high. Got sand in my SUV that is still there. Serves as a memory of something I don't want to repeat. Happy trails!!!
We are thrilled you came to South Texas and thank you for sharing your videos of lake Corpus Christi and Padre Island National Seashore…not that you need any advice but I have found to keep sand out of my tent I place a bucket filled of beach water at the entrance of my tent for a quick dip and a rug/towel just inside works great. Plus, baby powder is a life saver with dusting the sand off and I sprinkle a little bit on my bedding to reduce the dampness. Safe travels always.
Im from South Texas , RGV actually, in the summer months SPI ( in Cameron Co. ) actually has some excellent surf fishing, , next time come in the mid summer , Camp out and surf fish using live shrimp as bait, use long poles, , wade out to the 2nd sand bar, cast out , catch fish ( whiting) fry them up, I think Dome Life would approve.
How cool is this! You have definitely caused me to add this experience to my bucket list. Thanks for a great video, as usual. Be careful out there...Tam
I live 50 minutes away from the island and didn't know you could camp out! I only have a tent and no way to block the wind. Glad ya'll had fun, thanks for sharing!
OMG that sandwich is amazing. We ate it for days. We did sneak in some cheese on the bread with some Asiago cheese bread. Thanks for the recipe. Have a blessed week!!
Padre Island is a awesome place. Did most of my camping there, years ago before it became a National Seashore. loved going to Big Shell to fish. Thank for bringing back memories. Don't overlook the Laguna Madre ,inside the island, a huge fish estuary.
Enjoyed watching. Next time on the beach maybe try some fishing. The whiting are in the surf during colder months. You can use dead shrimp or buy cast net and catch your bait and cut in small pieces
My family camped there 65 years ago and only made it one night. It was Summer,100 in the shade, tent filled up with sand and my Sister got tangled up with a man o war in the water.I remember Dad up at daylight packing up and we went somewhere else.
Nice video. Brings back great memories. A friend of mine and I camped for a week in the same general area on a trip out west in the mid-'70s. Seagulls would swoop down and take pieces of bread from our hands as they hovered in flight. When we were there, a ranger came by and told us we had to evacuate due to a storm approaching. Later in the day, he returned and said it was not expected to be as bad as previously predicted and the evacuation was recommended but not mandatory. The winds kicked up and we spent the evening with a group of 7 coeds from Michigan State who were camping nearby. The wind was inflating and then deflating their large tent in rapid cycles. When we headed back to our campsite in the dark, my flashlight focused on my duffle bag and some items that had been in the tent. As we got closer, we saw that the tent had been shredded by the wind, which reached 60 mph. We went back to our friends' tent and rode out the storm there. The next day the beach was covered with colonies of blue translucent Portuguese Man o' War, a close relative of jellyfish, with venomous microscopic pneumatic stinging cells. They had been blown in by the wind. We decided to go for a day trip to Galveston with our friends. We walked out on a pier there and the "jellyfish" were side-by-side the entire length of both sides of it. We also had to buy a new tent. But great fun and a great experience all around. Beautiful place...Highly recommend.
Be careful it's contagious that place I camped out there 34 years ago for three nights with a friend in his RV at was it we went back to our summer camp I built myself a self-contained shuttle this is my third winter out here that is the most awesome spot I found
Bird basin lagoon is next to free I believe when I was there it was only $7 the tent camping area is usually empty lots of birds great place to wind surf and kayak. Also wind and sand isn't as bad as it is on the beach...
Good morning, I just came across your channel/video. Everyone always goes to Padre Isand but rarely go to South Padre Island via Brownsville/Port Isabel Texas. If you to go Brownsville Texas then you will literally be next to Mexico. Hope you or someone comes this way. Best of luck, safe travels.
No it'snot dangerous. You see a lot of winter Texans at the island. You have Elon Musk Space X here and if you want authentic Mexican food then the Rio Grande Valley has that.
Padre island National Sea Shore is my place to camp. The coyotes will get pretty close to the tents if you stay several days. I assume they are hoping for scraps. I have had one come within 2 feet of my tent. Later that trip, i saw him take a shorebird in the night. Very cool place. Great video
Great video and I might be biased Bc you’re in my lovely state 😃 Thanks for caring so much about the environment the way y’all do, it’s just really sweet to witness fellow nature lovers picking up after the mess others create on our lands. I do the same when I find myself in those situations.
Love the video can’t wait to camp there. I didn’t know you could walk on the dunes most places ask that you don’t. Miss Kelly that sandwich looked delicious will be making that one soon.
Hey Cody and Kellie....we love it on Padre Island....never many people there at all times of the year.....we live about 1.5 hours drive North from there...Nice to have you two in our neck of the woods...glad you liked your stay there...From Hank and Pam of South Texas
Oh HEB bagels are awesome!!! Some bacon on those turkey sandwiches would be yummy. I like to take a wrap and make turkey, bacon (pre-cooked from Sam's Club), cucumber, avacado, lettuce, whatever veges you like.
I did get stuck and since their is no one around to help I just brought ocean water up and soaked the sand around my van tires got out easy peasy after sand was packed from the water.
What a great idea! Camping on the beach! I've camped for many years now, but never on the beach. Never found one that allowed camping. The moonrise & sunrise were so nice. Those shaved turkey sandwiches looked so good. I'm also a fan of shaved lunch meat. You guys keep on enjoying your travels & off grid lifestyle. I think it's wonderful!
You find some of the best locations. Thank you for taking us along. I miss the beach and enjoyed seeing it through the eyes of your camera. Big thumbs up and sharing on twitter
Texas has another great park for tent camping! It is called McKinney state park and you will be next to Austin to enjoy the the music night life. Great walking trails and bike trails but no sand but lovely green belt
That's almost exactly where we stayed a few years back. Be careful of the eco-warriors. We were driving along an empty stretch and somebody dug a trench all the way across the beach. Glad we had a Jeep. Still bent the front shield pretty good. Great vid!

Awesome video, that sandwich looks delicious. Going to have to try that. Just stumbled onto your channel and think it’s great how you keep it real, showing the good with the bad.
I kept listening for the reason you only stayed one night? I'd have to do at least 2 nights to make it worth washing the salt off the hummer. I really liked this video since I've been itching to go to the beach. Bussy McBussface has been in that island for a few weeks. I figured Kellie would be fishing in the gulf and cooking it up! Can't wait till next week!

Thank You! for helping to keep our beaches clean. Every little bit helps and adds up to being a lot.

Don't forget to rinse the trailer and truck to get the harsh salt off the bottom of truck and traile..
Love Padre Island. Glad you enjoyed its beauty.
Glad you enjoyed our beach. I definitely don't get tired of living next to something so beautiful. Safe travels 🤙
