You need to lower your preset volts, you can see the torch lift quite a bit there, don't stick to book torch voltage settings, you just want the setting that keeps you running at the same height as it comes off dthc delay. Good luck, there is lots to learn with the plasma cutting, been at it for 4yrs nearly now and still learning. Thinking about a XP as well, I have the 45 now.

I got a pack of 5 electrodes for duramax LK/RT that were oddly shipped to me with clothes we bought online. If they will work with your system let me know and they are yours. Your video came up when i searched for them so I’m guessing they will. Cool setup you have!

If you just search the model on UA-cam there’s tons of detailed reviews. That’s how I did all my initial research. There’s tons of comparison videos putting different machines side by side so you can find out what’s best for you.
Great video. I built a home made 6'x11' cnc plasma water table. Have an Everlast 60s cutter. It does not play well with my Masso controller and the Proma THC 150. So I am getting ready to purchase the Hypertherm Powermax 45xp or 65xp, trying to make up my mind on which one to get. How thick of a cut have you made? How is the cut compared to your old Everlast?
I subscribed just because it was cool, and I I'm just now getting into plasma cutting. I have a question.... with the XP 45 can I still hook up to a 30 amp breaker? It seems to me that one could simply turn the amperage down to accommodate that. Also, when doing your research what made u choose this brand say over Miller?
+Eddie, welcome to the channel! I will have to get back to you on the breaker size. I’ll check my manual for the recommended size and then what I’m actually using because honestly I never looked. Lol. It’s running off the same 220 line my dryer is wired in to. I just don’t use them at the same time! As far as the brand. It was the highest recommended for plug n play with most cnc controllers. Miller is an excellent brand and I have their 225 mig welder, but I feel like that’s their wheel house and Plasma is a secondary. Hypertherm and Thermal Dynamics are typically your industry standards for Plasma. I’m sure someone out there will argue that, but that’s my personal opinion. Hope this helped some!
Yeah I bought one too. I figure 400 more then Everlast 80s CNC but, now I have the best and American made. I go get my table next Wednesday. Nice video.

Oscar, I don't have any other than what you saw for now. I do plan on getting some up in the near future with some projects I'm working on. As far as the investment. I built my own table so the raw metal was around 600. The controller and motors came from CandCNC.com they have several packages but mine was around 3,000 including the computer,programs and licenses. My gantry came from precision plasma llc which again they have several styles and price ranges. If I remember correctly I'm right around 4500 with everything. Gear racks screws etc. hope this helped! Also there is no stand alone air pump. You have to have an external compressor. It does have its own water separator built in so if you add one to your compressor you get double the performance! Thanks again for your support!
Have you ever cut aluminum with it? Can it? Can you hook up argon to it to cut cleaner? I own a sign company and cut a lot of aluminum.nothing thicker than .125”

Sorry got so busy with the other videos. Basically it was not compatible with the automated cnc plasma cutters. None of the larger brand name softwares work with it. It’s possible with pretty detailed customization but I just wasn’t looking to have to tinker with all that. The machine itself as far as hand cutting and it’s quality was actually very good! It would really boil down to what you’re gonna use it for and or how. Hope this helps!

If you’re going to go with with of the mainstream controllers like candcnc then yes. It’s plug and play and super smooth plus you have tech support. With Everlast you’re on your own to search forums on line etc. it’s worth the extra money in my opinion for the convenience and piece of mind. No real great advice. Just take your time when you do the portion of the track and metal rails on the table because that’s where the details count. The frame could be crooked as hell as long as that track is straight! Best of luck to you on your build!

Not sure if it’ll still be an active package or not but it was from a company that sells hypertherm and had several options listed on eBay. Was the best price I had found too. Worse case if you contact your dealer I’m sure they can order it up for you.
@@QuebecoisSti, in the shop, most users will invariably have access to 220VAC, but Dual Voltage gives you the advantage of being able to do light work/cutting out in the field with 115VAC, where 220VAC may likely not be available...
the advantages of dual voltage are portability, even though you might not get the full power of the machine you will still be able to use it on job sites that you might be able to have 220 V, and also if you don't have a 220 v outlet in your garage at home you will be able to use it, eve though if you are buying s Parma cutter I would assume you would have a 220 v outlet but it is preference, everyone does different work...so its up to you if its worth it or not because if you just have a 220v unit and need portability you could get stuck...that is my suggestion, I like having the choice of 110 or 220 but like I said I dont now what thickness or type of metal you work with
It’s part of CandCNCs equipment. I don’t know that it has any brand name, but yes it will run on Mach 3. It came with information on how to set it up for either software package.

I’m actually very happy with their THC their customer service is decent. There is one tech guy who really knows his stuff (I forget his name) the only complaint I have is as a company they are very close minded and only really work with hypertherm plasma cutters. If you don’t go with that brand then they’re not really good on tech support. That’s ultimately why I bought my hypertherm cutter (which I love) but it wasn’t cheap.
Hello, I purchased a Hypertherm 45 xp, but I don't know if my unit has the connector for the machine torch. It has a round cover for it on the back of the machine, but the instructions don't say how to remove the cover. I have spun it and pried on it, but I am spooked of ruining something. Any info is appreciated. I enjoyed your video. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. Carl
+Hey Carl thanks for the interest! So the machine torch just plugs in to the main torch port on the front. The actual CNC plug is in the back and just has a screw on cap. They offer this machine in both versions meaning it's CNC capable and not. If yours isn't, there might just be a cap or cover where that port would normally be. Do you know if you ordered the CNC model?
So the software is called sheetcam. That is what converts the files into cuttable images. The table uses its on software for actually running the jobs. It’s part of the whole control system for the table. Its not like a program you can just buy on its own.
Eloy, I don't know much about the miller Plasma cutter you mentioned, but I do own a miller mig welder which I'm extremely happy with. Honestly I don't think you could go wrong either way. Both are big reputable brands with good customer service. I am very happy with the Hypertherm 45xp though. Packs a lot of punch for a tiny machine. Best of luck in your decision!

Hey Kurt. I'm not sure I know exactly what you're talking about. The pilot arc will only run for a few seconds if it does not make contact with metal and strike an actual arc. In my software you can set the "tip saver" feature to shorten it even more. I'm not sure about making it run longer though. In my everlast it would blow the fuse if the pilot arc started too many times with out metal. Sorry. I hope this helped a little. Thanks for your view and interest!!
Master Of None thanks for the help. some hypertherms have the continuous pilot mode for if you want to cut metal mesh ext. the pilot arc will automatically be re-engaged every time the gun comes in contact with the metal. I'm sure the older 45 has it but it seem like the new 45xp only has a cutting mode and a gauging mode.
+Kurt you got me curious so I looked in to it. Here's a reply from Jim Colt who is their big tech guy from what I understand.... No....you just cut expanded metal in the standard cut mode....no need to set anything. The power supply has a fast acting pilot arc control that will auto switch (when it senses loss of arc transfer) to pilot arc in a few miliseconds. Jim Colt Hypertherm

Yes Kris. I constructed the frame and slats. The gantry was purchased as a kit with carriages and I supplied the metal stock that goes across. It came from precision Plasma llc. Great guy over there. The hypertherm uses Duramax torches. The link I put in is the package deal I bought via eBay. Fantastic price and customer service. I'm really interested in learning more about cnc plasma table setup and operation. I'm a welder and use a hand held plasma torch at work often but when it comes to the automated operation I'm a little intimidated. The details about how you built your table would be cool and how you got started. Also, how much of a learning curve could I expect regarding the software? I appreciate it
I will try to put something together for you. I’ve actually had a couple people ask for a similar thing. For now though honestly I just dove in to it. Started watching UA-cam videos looking up equipment on line etc. I had a background with Cad type programs from when I used to makes signs and die cut vinyl decals. It worked out smooth for me because I still do all my drawing in those programs and simply change the file extension for it to be recognized in the program for the cutting. I’ll send you a message when I post a video about it.

It’s much much smoother than the everlast. I haven’t gone above 1/4 inch just because I haven’t had a need to. You’d be happy with either I’m sure.

Yes it will cut any metal. I think you can hook up gas but it’s not common. You get a very clean cut when everything is dialed in right.
How thick was the material also what kind of material was it
Regular steel and I think that was only 1/8 inch if I remember right.

If Hypertherm would've made this unit w/dual voltage capable, I'd be purchasing it instead of the Miller Spectrum X-Treme 625.

How thick of metal do you cut on your table
It’s can cut up to 5/8 inch thick but I’ve never cut anything bigger than 1/4 inch for my projects.
How thin of steel can you cut and what is the smallest hole diameter you can cut? .030"-.060" steel is what i would like to use.
The thickness or “thinness” has to do with your plasma cutter. The diameter is the plasma table. I’ve got holes as small as 1/2 inch

The thickness is fine but I don’t think you could do a nice hole at that size. Too small. You’d be better off just drilling it.

I'm really interested in learning more about cnc plasma table setup and operation. I'm a welder and use a hand held plasma torch at work often but when it comes to the automated operation I'm a little intimidated. The details about how you built your table would be cool and how you got started. Also, how much of a learning curve could I expect regarding the software? I appreciate it
I will try to put something together for you. I’ve actually had a couple people ask for a similar thing. For now though honestly I just dove in to it. Started watching UA-cam videos looking up equipment on line etc. I had a background with Cad type programs from when I used to makes signs and die cut vinyl decals. It worked out smooth for me because I still do all my drawing in those programs and simply change the file extension for it to be recognized in the program for the cutting. I’ll send you a message when I post a video about it.
