I played a lot of Portia, but bounced off Sandrock because it seemed too similar. However if I’d realised they’d added voice acting to the characters then that alone would have changed my mind. It really helps to make them feel like semi-real personalities. I can’t remember a single NPC from Portia, they all blended with each other.
If you're a person who loved Stardew Valley but found My Time at Portia nowhere near as fun, do you think Sandrock offers enough positive changes to make it worth a purchase? I never was into life sim/Harvest Moon style games, but Stardew hooked me like never before. All these years later, I'm still looking for a game that can do something similar. But after a few hours of My Time at Portia, I realized it just wasn't it. This looks promising though, but I'm hesitant because it's also $40.
@coreymckee4844 Wait, you're whining about how much money games are in Canada, but then have the nerve to tell me what's affordable for ME? How ignorant. I could just as easily say "Canadian currency is worth less than USD, plus you average higher wages & have less expenses due to social programs, therefore $100 should be cheap!" I make $30k a year & $40 on a game I don't like is a lot of money.
This is pretty late but I dropped Portia liking it alright, and am loving Sandrock, I think they added a lot more variety and polished a lot of the issues. Its the game Portia should have been.
No, you can endlessly play but the story aspect does end. I put 95 hours into the game before finishing the story myself but you can definitely do that faster or slower depending on if you intentionally stall the story.
@@brandonbertelsmeyer5713 what happen when you finish the story? will it be like Harvest moon or stardew valley when you can just continue the daily activities
This was confusing online. I could only find listings for the PS4 version and not the 5, but if anything you can only play the PS5 version and the 4 doesn’t exist.
@@biofringe4983I was concerned about the AA as well….Can you tell me what sort of AA settings are available because I can’t stand jagged edges everywhere?
There is a lot of combat outside dungeons (usually connected to moving the plot forward) and those events are fun. I rarely go to the dungeons and still have a high combat level.
Fuck why is the Game looking so bad? Is that the N64 Version or what? My Game looked so much better. Also the Game is NOT a Farming-Sim. There is no real Farming. Farming and Ranching are pretty much pointless side-activities. They are only in there to check the "Like stardew" checkbox. This Game is about BUILDING stuff.
Eh, a person who enjoys simulation games will love it, but obviously that doesn’t float your boat as much. Simulation games almost always have a gameplay loop, and lots of grind.
@@Gofaw 😭 I actually like it more than Portia. But like I said, whatever floats your boat. I definitely understand how some people may not like it and that’s perfectly okay.
Well - I would like to give it a go, but they refused to release the game on GOG at this moment (if ever), even while the game is advertised on that site as to be released soon. I get the feeling something weird and fishy is going on with this publisher/developer. So - While I probably would like the game (I liked Portia), it's a hard pass for now. If they ever publish the game on GOG I will consider it (but only maybe, because of this strange fishy behavior), but otherwise - No go...
@@evanemanski7085 Why do you think so? It seems there are not much publishers that have problems with GOG. Portia is on GOG too, so that's that. I can imagine that there are some problems with multiplayer (it seems the developers have installed rather extensive user data collection software in that part), but that should not be a problem with decent warnings. GOG would not announce game releases without any previous conformation, don't you think? So I still think there is something fishy going on because it's weird that those developers make that U-turn at the last minute.
@@jclosed2516 Well, GOG has been losing money for some time. At least it has been reported since 2021 that they aren't doing fantastic. I'm sure that has something to do with it.
If you want more time in a day, you can slow game speed in the options menu.
It practically doubles your day.
Great review! I was on the fence for this one, but you've convinced me to give it a go.
Always up for a comfy farming game to play in my off-time
imagine if they had more budget. but I guess nobody really drops big bags for simulation games.
It’s among top 10 new games that made a lot of profit in 2022. So I guess budget is no longer their big struggle
people pay a lot for sims
Plenty of games with huge budgets that aren't good
Simulations games will always be one of my favorite genres. 😊😊😊😊
It is a great Sim, farming, crafting, action and story telling game

I wish they would’ve improved on the art style from my time at Portia, but this looks pretty fun!

I am also curious about the answer to this exact question..
Try Faefarm Demo?
Dude games are now 70$ US. And 100$ canadian. For US players, 40$ is great considering games used to be 60$. Lower your standards man..🙄

I'M FAST AF BOI. Love your reviews btw.
Coral Island very soon too!
Very excited
Thanks for the review! Turn your mic up next time
This or Coral Island on PS5? help me choose!
I also think their story and lore is above average.
Does the game have a time limit You're describing it like it's rune factory?

Fix FPS Drops and Stuttering on playstation 5
The thing about timed dungeons really turns me off this one

That is a really strange decision in a game aiming to be relaxing and easygoing

Very underwhelming game unfortunately. The setting is shit, the stamina mechanics are dumb and extremely limiting and the gameplay loop gets old fast
I think you should play a game called Exanima on pc. Good game for you
