One reason for the horse to wear a 'helmet', besides to protect the horse from injury, is to blind him; horses panic much less when their eyes are covered. Thats why you see people using towels and shirts to move frightened horses.
Awesome. Amazing work. Saw you guys on FlightRadar today for something in the mountains between Mecca and the 10. Got the alert when taking off from Hemet and going to Palm Springs. And my name is Jason too lol.
So many questions. Do they have a horse-helicopter-harness in every rescue team/bird? Why is the horse there? Why is the horse wearing a helmet? How did they catch the horse? How did the people get there initially?
The horse bucked off his rider the day before and ran off. A neighbor saw the horse stuck in the mud on the river bank nearby and posted a pic on FB. The horse owner recognized it as his and called 911. We don't carry that large horse sling, the Riverside City Fire Dept has that device and they are very good at setting it up. We train with them annually to long line horses like this. The horse has a helmet, well, to protect their head. The initial team of firefighters from CalFire had to set up a swift water rescue boat/pully system to get to him. Thanks for watching!
...And there is the first guy. Never fails. Just 46 minutes into it! We love to save animals just as much as people. When we lose that, we become savages.
Who cares? It also counts as training. Instead of just randomly flying around and doing hoist operations for training scenarios, at least they get to use it, which is better than training.
Imagine being a high horse flying through the air, that shit must be wild
Hes friends will never believe him when he tells them i flew like Pegasus
I live on the Bluff and watched this all live. Awesome job guys!!!
The care that went into this rescue is top notch. Whoever was petting that horse to calm him is extra special as far as I'm concerned.
🎶Flyyyy, fly, lil Sebastiaaaaaan!!!!🎶
Love that Andy Dwyer!
Amazing job! Well done!
Appreciate what you do, surprised this channel doesn't have more subscribers.
Wow what a perspective
Great rescue, great training in an odd situation. More live experience never hurts.

I thought they misspelled hoist rescue in the title…. And I was wrong 😂 They really mean a horse.

Poor horse! W
How have we not seen his on the Hoist Operators Union page??
Might be too long. I posted a shorter version on our unit IG, @hooknhand. Thanks for watching!
honse away!
Idk man we’re looking at 1/2 million dollars in salary there do we really need to save a horse?
Free horse

@@Hook-in-hand Damn right! Well said.
It was also someone’s personal horse. If your dog was in a burning house you’d want firefighters to go in and save it right or is it just a dog?

Amazing teamwork and professionalism!!! I remember reading about this rescue! Any way to get in contact with you guys? social media or IG page?
