  • Nice hour long doodle. I hereby celebrate being completely bug-free for the first time since acquiring my HydraSynth. I've had a year long struggle with bugs that prevented me from recording long improvisations. Now I'm ready to pick it back up. There's a few nice moments in here. The sun went down while playing, so the video got a bit dark in the end.

Nice work here. Has the soundtrack vibe but your musical voice is apparent. I think I will trade up the Deepmind to a Peak, the clarity of the Peak is so appealing. You get the Vangelis moodiness without sounding derivative - great skills. Sub.

Thanks man. I don't like my Deepmind. I think about selling it a lot. The Peak is a Beast. The amp on my Behringer synths is weak. The signal to noise ratio is poor. Vangelis is my man obviously,. It's very hard not to rip him off all the time. So I'm happy to hear I still have voice of myself.

@@skrie Well anyone who loves electronic music has to be influenced by Vangelis. I remember an interview where he said something like "the notes must breathe" - I take that to mean notes have their own identity and need to be allowed to extend in time. I see that in your work here. The moody vibe with melodic motifs is reminiscent of the master's approach....spacious, melodic, emotion laden.
re: Deepmind, had it for years and rarely fire it up. A dust catcher. I am out of space so replacement will have to be a module, candidates are peak, prophet 6, prophet rev2 an Iridium. Also, the Osmose has not grabbed me like others. Probably because I am a basic player but that little screen for diving is bad for my 79yo eyes. And the wiggle settings sometimes send you out of tune when you do not want it. I might move on from the Osmose too, then I can get new keys - Summit, PolyBrute, Hydra Deluxe??? What a time for synth players!

@@Sam_Utah The way you casually drop that 79yo in there :D Even at 44 the Deepmind display hurts the brain. Anyways, I also hope to be still playing at your age and beyond.

Nice, I can usually only keep this kind of thing going for a minute or two

Thanks. I usually make more mistakes. But it was a very slow and careful procedure. Now I just gotta take it up a notch.

Thank you very much. My main workhorse is a Novation Peak. But I mix it up with the ASM Hydrasynth-Deluxe and a Behringer Pro-800. The Hydrasynth processes and sends out Polyphonic Aftertouch. All my other Synths receive and handle Polyphonic Aftertouch. I feel it gives me the best possible expression. I have a DIY midi controller to change mod-matrix settings in the Novation Peak. That way I can quickly change settings that deal with Polyphonic Aftertouch while playing, without the usuall menu diving involved with the mod-matrix. Kinda like a Yamaha CS80. As you might have guessed I'm a big Vangelis fanboi :) On the left I also have a Yamaha CP4 for the EP piano sound. And a Behringer Deepmind-12, but I ended up cutting most of that channel out of the mix because it was distracting. Everytime I use the Deepmind I end up hating it.
