I really love the little stories. Every time they make me smile :)It makes everything even more sympathetic than it already is. It kind of gives a special and cozy feeling to the awesome and delicious recipes every time. So domestic. I love how Maangchi interacts with all the people out here.
I love these cuttlefish threads. I’m half Korean and am learning Korean cooking from watching Maangchi’s video’s. My parents divorced when I was young and my dad tried to teach me what Korean dishes he knew, but being a white dude, his knowledge was limited (my mom was never around after the split). I’m having a great time rediscovering my heritage and the delicious cuisine. Thank you Maangchi! ❤️
I LOVE Maangchi so much. Each recipe she holds them near and dear to her heart. That's what food is to me, all of them associated with my childhood or loved ones. This is what makes her so great and genuine. Keep it up Maangchi!
I enjoy listening to your stories. Thank you for sharing. I love eating caldo de res because it reminds me of my childhood. Is actually one of my favorite meals. Every time it rained, my grandma always cooked soup, caldo de res is one of the soups she made often.
Every time I go into asian markets I buy dried squid, some of my friends think I'm crazy(the smell apparently really puts them off lol) but it's absolutely one of my favorite things. This looks amazing 😍
I LOVE maangchi, sticking to traditional recipes like "this will take two months of prep time and it is very delicious your whole family will love you" and like "this recipe was too easy I almost didn't make it" when everyone else is scrambling to make "five minute extremely cheap meals on the go!!!" Haha!! (Not knocking those either I love those too I'm just saying.... I love her...so much )
English, Portuguese, Czech, and Malay captions are up now! So fast! I uploaded this video only a few hours ago. You are absolutely right Maangchi . There are certain recipes that always remind me of my mother ...........fish in mustard sauce for one , vegetable koftas (dumplings) , cottage cheese in spinach gravy , parathas (type of Indian bread ) , vegetable stew , fluffy egg omelette .........the list goes on and on .
This looks great! I probably won't make this because I'm assuming this ingredient is pretty hard to find here in Brazil, but regardless! And thanks so much for sharing your story, Maangchi! This is the kind of thing, as well as your simpathy and cuteness, that makes these videos so special and unique! Not to mention the delicious and cultural foods you share with us!
My memory food is baked potato with stringy cheese. When I was a young child me and my parent used to go to this food stand in a town called Sandbach in the UK, we used to sit on a bench and eat them, it was so warm tasty and comforting. So I love baked potatoes now!
Dutch and Thai captions were submitted by our volunteer translators! Thank you so much! Check out the description box if you like to see who did the captions! Let's thank all of them!
No imperial measurements except the pound! (In Dutch, we have a similar word for "pound", which means 500 grams.) It looks so delicious as well! When I was on a camp, we would usually have macaroni in tomato sauce.
+Thuy An Nguyen I used to live in Soesterburg on the AFB. My favorite memory was going to the corner Dutch grocery and to taste all the cheese and bread. My favorite, was the Gouda cheese from the huge wheels. We always bought half a wheel which to this day my mom always tells me it was a mistake to move to Holland because we got so hooked on cheese and bread. Now living in Alabama my favorite cheese is Gouda and I've shared that joy with my kids since they were born. ✌💜
I love this so much. The first time I had this is in the fried chicken shop in Myeong-dong. I kept asking them to refill as I cant have enough. My unforgetable memory there is that I was alone and I had so much soju I almost cant remember how to go home. hahaha~!!Thank you for sharing the recipe Maangchi.. I love to try to make it someday!
I really love your recipies, making Kimchi, Kkakdugi, Doenjang-Jjigae and Pa-Kimchi give me silence and peace. I love your enthusiastic way of presentiing your cooking, you´re a master ( sseu-seung :-) ) I have a few korean friends, but today I cooked for a korean friend of mine and he ate Kimchi, Kkakdugi and Pa-Kimchi, and also Doenjang-Jjigae and Mieuok-Muchim, prepared by a german. Because of your videos, he didn´t laugh - he just ate a lot, with shining eyes! Making a nice event for this very precious friend of mine is a very precious thing to do for me as a true friend, helping a true friend in a difficult situation - without your videos, he would just have laughed , but he just enjoyed - you made a german and a korean happy today! Thank you, Maangchi, you´re the best, thank you for being an ambassador for korean cuisine! Dedani kamsahapnida! See ya!
Yum this looks amazing. I will have to try it today 😋. I see you have so many people contributing to your captions! This means people can all learn new languages and watch your videos in their languages! I would love if some of your volunteers helped me with my subtitles. Thank youuuu
One of the best UA-camrs ever Maangchi😘 In addition to the cooking vlogs, your personality just shines through! Made my day after listening to your story:)
ever since I was a kid my mom has made beef stroganoff with lots of mushrooms, cream instead of sour cream, and red wine. When I lived alone I would make this and I would feel a little less homesick. I moved back in with my parents and now on my birthday I always ask her to make beef stroganoff.
For me, whenever I eat the Korean hot pepper paste with rice, it reminded me when I was traveling in Seoul!!! Love love love Korean food, and love love love love you Maangchi =]
I am not sure if my nieces or nephew would like this but I know my brother and I would love this. We used to eat squid strips like beef jerkey. I don't know if japanese or okinawan cook it because my mother never did. That might be because we never gave her a chance to cook it. Even my american dad would eat this. Thanks for posting it. I am going to try this as soon as I have my own place. Mmmm...
Hello again Maangchi. You dont know this but am always waving back at you at the beginning and end of the video..hahaha. Great story! Thank you! Hug from the Netherlands :)
I bought a bag of squid threads at the Korean store and tried it right out of the bag. Not so good. I didn’t know what to do with it. Then I saw your YT video and followed the instructions. Damn...That is really good and so simple! I am hooked. Like you said: it is kind of addicting, especially with your favorite beer. Thank you for the video. Love it.
I love this snack!!! I had a Korean friend in high school whose mom would make this for her. She would always bring this snack to school and it was amazing and tasty!!
Maanchi, I love your videos but when I watch them, I get very hungry even if I just ate. Your dishes look so delicious. I guess they taste as good as they look!
Yes Maanchi, I know exactly what you mean. When I have pernil (roasted pork shoulder) I always think of memories from my childhood, eating at my grandma's house with a lot of family around.
yeah we always have some good stories relating to hearty food that our grandmothers used to make. Even though we are from all different cultures, grandmother's love over their grandchildren is eternal. I like your grandmother because I feel my own grandmother through your story.
love this~ never knew it was expensive! hehe I love your episode. in japan the same, we sleep like sardines in a big room together. i think kids now still do~. it is funny that you don't even remember if you got the dish or not. LOL

I went this past weekend to the only asian grocery store in my city and finally found pepper paste and pepper flakes!!! I almost screamed in the store hehe. I can finally make kimchi 😍 hugs from Costa Rica!!!
Maangchi, you've inspired me to create a good lot of Korean food in our household over the past couple of years, and now my younger son is learning the Korean language, too. We have made your other cuttlefish dish a few times before and will try this one, too. One question, though: have you considered mixing all the ingredients except the cuttlefish and making a sauce or dressing from that, and then tossing that with the cuttlefish? It seems like you would get a more even distribution with less work. What do you think?
Love ❤️ you Maangchi. ❤️ love deep fried dried squid. Dip in vinegar with hot chili pepper, a little bit of sugar, garlic and soy sauce. Eaten with rice and steamed veggies. Yum 😋 yummy 😋 😍.
