    This was one of the most helpful tutorials on drywall I've seen on youtube. You make it look so easy. I've tried finding a professional/reliable drywall contractor to remove (2) niches and install drywall with no success. I'm just going to have a go at it myself. Thanks for your help. Great job!

    Thanks for helping me with this video, I just closed an internal window with drywall following your steps, very informative! It was my time ever with drywall, circular saw, etc.

    Thank you for sharing. I have to close a 4X8 window . I requested many people. They are asking $ 5000 for this. Now I can do it by myself for less than 100 $. Very easy fix.

    Thank you! I hate the niche above my fireplace. We plan to makeover the fireplace with stone veneer panels, but couldn't find any videos on filling the niche.

    Super job! I'll follow your steps to do the same thing with a kitchen pass through. I'll use this technique on both sides of an interior wall. Thank you.

    Really great job. I have a 4 foot by 8 foot section that needs to be done on both sides. Nobody wants to come out here to just do the one small job. I guess it is a lot of work and they want het enough for the job. I will have to tackle the job myself and your video really helped me to understand how to do it. Maybe my work will look as great as yours.

    Thank you. We bought a house 6 months ago and it has a framed opening in the wall between dining area and living room. I hate it. Wall space is prime real estate in my opinion and I need a full wall. We're going to attempt to fix it ourselves.

    Handled that wall like a pro! Could you share what the dimensions of the hole were and total working time it took to complete?

    • @ShowMeConstruction
      @ShowMeConstruction  2 роки тому +1

      Hi! Thank you for your comment. The dimensions are 3x4 feet. It took me one day (around 7 hours) and painted it the next day. With filming everything take a few hours longer than normal. Always trying to get the right lighting and angles. Thanks again!

    You make it look so easy. Thank you. I can just get by with my drywall work. I want to close an alcove over our fireplace. Do I have to remove the receptacle and TV coax cable that is there?

    • @ShowMeConstruction
      @ShowMeConstruction  Рік тому

      Thank you for your kind comments.
      Your state may not allow you to bury electrical in your wall. You can look up the codes. The coax cable can be hidden or removed. Either is fine. The receptacle should be brought to the front and either put a blank plate or install a plug. A plug might be nice if you plan on using Christmas lights above the fireplace, etc. Hope that helps!

    Would the studs be strong enough to support a big screen TV? A 75 inch weighs 75-100 pounds. My circa 1990s home came with a TV nook or alcove in the family room that I would like to cover. I've squeezed in a 50 inch, but we would like to have something a lot bigger.

    • @ShowMeConstruction
      @ShowMeConstruction  Рік тому

      You can put the studs where you want them to line up with the TV hanger. I would also add backing. I have a video on backing too. If your 2x4s are secured in place it will hold a big TV. Use 16D nails or 3 inch deck screws to secure all the fill-in wood. Drywall over that and it should hold your TV no problem. Hope that helps!

    If i have to close an interior space where there used to be a door, how do i attach the bottom horizontal stud to the concrete floor? And, do i not add any insulation or anything to prevent noise travelling through the wall much?

    • @ShowMeConstruction
      @ShowMeConstruction  Рік тому +1

      Put your 2x4 on the bottom and attach it to the sides of the doorway. You do not need to go into the concrete. You do need to use pressure treated wood since it's sitting against concrete. If your wall is already insulated you should insulate the doorway. But if the wall is not insulated you do not need to insulate what you are in closing. It's not going to do any good unless the whole wall is insulated. Hope that helps!

    Is the process the same if you want to fill in a cutout between two rooms? I have a one between my dining and living room that I want to fill in so I can hang a plate rack or place furniture against it.

    Thanks for the video! Total novice here and will use your video to enclose a niche as well. Mine has a arched top, guessing tape wouldn't work based on the curve. Hot mud the joint and keep hitting it with joint compound? Thanks in advance for any help!

    • @ShowMeConstruction
      @ShowMeConstruction  3 роки тому +1

      you can use short strips of tape. just so the crack doesn't manifest when your done. Thanks for watching.

      Once you tear out the drywall you'll see that they started with a square and put a circle inside of it. I would tear it out and make it a square again then fill it in as I did in the video. Hope that helps! Thanks for watching!

      It depends on your state's local codes. You can probably call City Hall and they will direct you to the right department. Thanks for watching!
