    Our pilots are thoroughly trained on which conditions to fly in. These wings are amazingly stable with modern technology and they maintain excellent internal pressure with the weight of the pilot / machine. You would be surprised how well they can handle turbulent wind.

    This is great! There is another way to see that place--I spent a summer doing fish and wildlife surveys in the canyon and in the upper Tuolumne River (less steep country). We would helicopter in maybe from the little airport you landed at? I think it was Sonora. We were actually working in the Clavey River canyon, which joins the Tuolumne River at a rapid/falls called Clavey Falls. It is an undammed river--not many exist in California--and super steep like your canyon stretch, with no roads or trails. It was great when our helicopter pilot would crest those canyon cliffs too! Not the safest place to fly or land a helicopter--we could only get to a small bench nearby and then hike down the rest of the way. Then the helo went and got our gear in a big net sling and we would meet it when it came back to undo it from a long rope from the helo. Like a big swinging pendulum. It got so hot in the canyon in the summer when the water was lower that the water was the same temperature as the air. I would get up around 5 am to do a bird survey, get dressed, jump into the river and then walk to my spot. I brought an inflatable alligator and some 420 on one trip. Paradise. My coworker and I decided to try to hike as high as we could up the canyon slope; I'm kind of scared of heights and the higher we got, the more I felt like I was hanging backwards over the canyon and the soil was dry and loose. Couldn't get to the top! Final thing, as soon as spring warmed up, that canyon was so chock full of rattlesnakes that you couldn't walk anywhere without seeing one, usually right when you were going to step on it or accidentally brush it on a hillside rock. Lots of other beautiful native California snakes and lizards--California and Mountain Kingsnakes, Rubber Boas, Gopher Snakes. We both loved snakes luckily. Anyway, great to see a video of it because that was about 20 years ago! cheers!

    Great flight! I take it they had already surveyed that section of canyon for wires? The tailwind is there just about every morning as the last of the cold air sinks down the canyon at sunrise.

    have you had any problems with your Blackhawk motor? And what model do you have? We also live in tuolumne county and thinking of buying Blackhawk but heard they have problems

    • @blackhawkparamotor
      @blackhawkparamotor  6 років тому +1

      Thanks for the comment Wade. We have countless Pilots with hundreds of hours on their motors. There are so many factors here that most people don't see unless they are in the Industry... I worked for another Manufacturer before I came here and the issues they had with their engines were so much worse than anything I've ever seen in my 7 years with BlackHawk. We literally sell about 10 times the number of other brands in the US, so with 10 times more motors out there, of course there will be more people who have issues. I'm sure people have issues with Ferrari cars, but there are so few out there, it looks like such a small amount - if that makes sense. What most people don't see is all the people who DON'T have issues... They aren't posting online, they are out flying and enjoying their BlackHawk. Many people who have had their issues resolved also won't go back and correct their statements or talk about how quickly or professionally they were taken care of. I could send you pages of positive testimonials about BlackHawk that people have emailed us.
      PLEASE be careful when it comes to information in this sport. There are a lot of politics, misinformation, and Dealers fighting to make commission on a sale. If you hear something negative about BlackHawk, dig a little bit... They are probably affiliated with another brand, or the friend of someone who is. I'd try to talk to Pilots who have a BlackHawk and no motivation to promote a brand (even ours). I went through the same headache of sifting through all the BS when I first saw this sport on UA-cam. I still didn't know enough and ended up working for another company that was a nightmare. With the experience I have now, and everything I've seen in this sport, I wouldn't want to work for another company... The Team here is just amazing. Give us a chance so you can see for yourself. Give us a call and just have a chat with us sometime =)

    why wouldnt they have been able to get out of the valley for 10 miles?

    • @blackhawkparamotor
      @blackhawkparamotor  8 років тому +1

      +fatebmx9 Thanks for checking out our videos! In this specific area, if there were a motor-out, there are no roads accessing a long stretch of that canyon. They would have had to hike out through some rough terrain. We always emphasize "making sure you have a landing spot in mind at all times." For the thrill-seeking pilots in this video, the risks fuel their enthusiasm for the trip. You should see what Rex does for a living... If you think this is intense, check out his wing suit performances with his Wife! Amazing couple of people!

    • @blackhawkparamotor
      @blackhawkparamotor  10 років тому

      No license at all! It's the last of its kind in aviation. Not needing a license is what draws many people to the sport and makes it affordable compared to other forms of flight. Thanks for the comment and feel free to contact us if you have any more questions.

    • @blackhawkparamotor
      @blackhawkparamotor  10 років тому +1

      Thanks for the comment. Aviation is out of reach for many people. The great thing about Powered Paragliding is you don't need any kind of license, there are no hanger fees, no insurance required, and our packages cost less than any other manufacturer of flying machines in the world. We also offer financing through Wells Fargo now. When you have a moment, give us a call so we can help you achieve your dream of flying. 209-786-7899

    • @kyleweir1590
      @kyleweir1590 9 років тому

      Powered paragliding is actually surprisingly cheap. If you have a look on Blackhawk's website, as an example, the BH90 is $6,995 for the engine, cage and a wing. I know that's not necessarily cheap, but it's a lot cheaper than owning a plane.

    • @jpadron6975
      @jpadron6975 7 років тому

      Kyle Weir Engine, Cage, and wing is all I need to fly or do I need to get more things?

    • @blackhawkparamotor
      @blackhawkparamotor  7 років тому +1

      Good question Gale. The only other things that we strongly recommend have to do with safety... A good helmet of course, a reserve parachute if you plan on flying over 100 feet (which most Pilots do), and possibly a flotation device if you are going to be flying over water. If you have any more questions, let us know! We're happy to help =)
