    Paramotor powered paragliding safety in the mountains starts with SUPER training at the beach. Have you heard people who don't know what they are talking about say you can't learn to fly the mountains or inland by training at the beach? It is of course totally false. Skill is skill is skill. The way you build skills is by mastering glider control on the ground. To master glider control it takes about 30-70 HOURS of actual practice with the paraglider on the ground. How exactly do you practice with a paraglider on the ground if you don't have wind? You can't. I hear dishonest incompetent instructors try to use this lie all the time by suggesting that people can't learn to fly inland with mountains and trees by learning in "perfectly smooth wind at the beach". It's completely and totally false. Are they suggesting they train their students in trashy air? Or do they chuck people off a mountain cliff and pretend that is training? The FACT is you can't learn glider control without consistent wind to practice and the only place in the world that the wind blows consistently all day long is at the beach. So if you try to train in some farmer's field you would likely only get maybe 30-45 minutes of actual practice every 3rd day or so. So it would take a month of Sunday's to rack up 30-60 hours of true glider control practice. That's why you know those pretending to train inland have no intention what so ever of actually training you properly. As always ask to see video evidence of their other students demonstrating true and real glider control. At the beach though you can knock out 30-60 hours in 5-7 days leaving tons of time for hundreds and hundreds of flights in 10 days of SUPER training. Also you don't learn to properly master glider control from the air either. Chucking people into the air before they master glider control on the ground ends up resulting in them picking up very wrong and backwards habits. Think of kiting on the ground like balancing a broomstick on your finger. Do you think you can learn to balance a broomstick on your finger by holding it from the top? On the ground the glider is like a broomstick on your finger. It is constantly trying to fall down. In the air it's like holding a broomstick by the top as it always wants to hang under your hand. So if you put people in the air BEFORE they truly learn to control the glider they quickly built the horribly wrong and backwards habit of allowing the glider to fly itself while they just tell it which way to turn. Without active piloting you are easily over 5000 times more likely to take a collapse so all those fake training places that chuck you into the air on the very first day literally don't care one bit about your life. It's like saying that if you are driving on the freeway in heavy traffic and you close your eyes and let go of the steering wheel that you are over 5000 times more likely to crash. If you are not active piloting a glider you are not controlling it any more then you are a car without your hands on the wheel. Without truly mastering glider control properly you simply don't and can't properly active pilot the glider. It takes reflexes that are automatic as you don't have time to think about what to do your body needs to react immediately or you simply are not in control. Think about it, in the air how to do practice stopping thousands of collapses? You don't because you naturally hang under the glider and would only take a collapse when you get hit with rough air. By then though it's too late and you are in a world of hurt so trying to learn in the air you end up dead before you actually learn. On the ground the glider is constantly trying to collapse or stall or fall to the side and you have to constantly correct it many times per second just as though it were a broomstick handling balancing on your finger. You can't just do nothing. Sadly almost no other school in the world is actually teaching true and real active piloting which is why soooooo many people crash from collapses when it absolutely didn't need to happen. At SUPER training you don't fly until you completely stop taking collapses on the ground. At the beach with wind all day you can literally spend upwards of 3-10 hours a day each and every day practicing thousands of times over and over keeping that glider from collapsing, stalling or falling and responding instantly over and over to each to prevent it from happening. We also simulate flying through a pilots wake by kiting behind other pilots. Or flying paramotors in front of those kiting on the ground waking the heck out of them. But wait this isn't even the half of it. There is so much more to it then keeping the glider above you without EVER letting it collapse.

    (I thought this would be an appropriate video to ask my questions about the Dominator.)
    Hello Mr. Schanze. I have some questions about gliders since I personally don't know anything about them as I have never flown. You mentioned fat lines and race lines. So the Dominator has the Race lines, and these are thinner lines? That would mean less drag correct? And lighter weight I'm guessing. Is this different from the K2? In fact what are the differences between the K2 and the Dominator? I thought I read in a comment of yours that the Dominator is a K2 but with your pattern. At any rate I personally am a dominator fan whether or not it is old or new because of your mountain flying videos. The Dominator is a mountain wing, is this correct? I'm not sure what that means but the fact that you fly in the Wasatch mountains like that at any time of day all year round has sold me on the Dominator, in particular the XXS Dominator. When I am able to fly myself I would like to fly in the mountains as well. Like I said I don't know anything about it but this is my observation. Also, out of curiosity would you recommend a XXS Dominator for XC. Is it still relatively efficient even though it is a smaller wing?

    • @DellSchanze
      @DellSchanze  6 років тому +1

      Yes the Dominator comes with the more expensive race lines depending on the size of the wing. This gives notably more performance as it greatly reduces the drag allowing higher speeds and better glide ratio. Plus they are lighter so it's easier to get launched in difficult areas such as nil wind at high altitude in tiny small little areas.
      The Dominator is a fully custom Cima K2. The actual Cima K2 is a mountain wing that doesn't even have real risers or brake toggles as the ones it came with were really thin and had no trims. It also came with the less durable cloth. The problem was is that while I was selling a fully custom version which ended up costing $3800 there were less then honest people selling the base base model and saying they could beat my price. So I bought the Cima K2 from Sky and we renamed our fully custom version of it the Dominator which only I can sell. Sky also discontinued the Cima K2 so it was no longer available so now I have zero competitors as I'm the only one in the world that can sell the very best wing currently on the market. So the Dominator comes with the high tech cloth that weighs only 1lb more then the original base model K2 did but offers 30% more durability and longevity then even the heavier wings out there. We also get fully custom risers and even custom brake toggles that have many really cool features I've perfected over the years. Plus it comes with the very best lines for each and every size so you get the absolute least drag and least weight while at the same time the highest performance. All these customization's obviously cost more which is why the Dominator is $3800 compared to the base model K2 which we can sell for only $2900. Of course then sky tries to deceive people wanting to capitalize on all the piles of videos I have proving without a doubt the Dominator is the very best glider on the market so they named a glider the Cima Power to try to trick people into thinking it's the Cima K2 like the Dominator which it is not. The Dominator comes in sizes from XXXXS all the way to XL where the Cima Power is only available in XS-XL. The XXS and XXXXS Dominator are 2 of the most incredible gliders in the history of the sport. The design really starts to shine the more you load it as it gains a ton of stability and collapse resistance while maintaining nearly the exact same collapse recovery as all the larger sizes. The Dominator is so incredibly efficient I just set the paramotor trike world altitude record at 18,208 ft without even adjusting the mixture on the Flat Top Ninja. I also set the paramotor tandem record on the world smallest glider ever flown tandem by flying tandem on the XXXXS size which is only 16sm. The Dominator is so incredibly efficient that you can literally fly tandem on every single size and while maintaining the highest possible level of safety. There are still liars out there trying to tell people the Cima Power is the same wing as the Dominator but it absolutely is not. For the Dominator to not just be the most incredibly safe wing on the market AND the absolute highest performance wing is absolutely mind blowing. The Dominator smokes even totally uncertified class death traps while it is so ridiculously safe it's the very wing I put brand new students on and the wing all my kids and wife flies. I am an extreme perfectionist though so the very second I find anything that beats it I will immediately change over. If it really were the "old outdated" wing the liars pretend it to be then where is even 1 single video of them beating it? Talk is cheap as they say. I have the piles of videos showing side by side comparisons as the super duper safe Dominator utterly destroys other gliders in every single way. It literally out handles the Thriller acro glider, out glides the Boom Sport XC glider from Gin, is faster then the death trap wings they call "reflex", produces more lift then huge tandem wings and is so ridiculously safe it does all of that while being seriously stupid proof. Not a single death ever on a Flat Top & Dominator. Not one. Liars have literally told people that the wing will fall apart after 50 hours and that it's so thin it shreds like tissue paper lol. All gliders must pass EXACTLY the same load tests so only a fool would try to pretend one glider is stronger then another when the fact is they are all made to handle the very same loads no matter the weight of the wing. Still others lie and say it's a "mountain wing" and can't be used for paramotoring lol. Again they only show their sheer idiocy. Umm how exactly does a piece of cloth know if it's carrying 250 lbs of fat guy vs 250 lbs of man & motor? It doesn't. There is no such thing as a motor wing or a mountain wing or any of the names they come up with for marketing purposes. A glider is a glider is a glider. Weight is weight is weight. Every single paraglider on the market even super high aspect ratio XC comp wings can be flown with a paramotor or towed behind a boat or jumped off a mountain. A piece of cloth doesn't know the difference. So a wing is a wing is a wing. It only has to do with each gliders set of characteristics and how those characteristics compare to another glider. Most wings do well at one characteristic but not at another while the Dominator totally rocks at ALL of them at the same time. it's foolish to fall for lies and opinions. Characteristics can be measured so there is no opinion about it. The winner of a race is not determined by opinion. It's determined by whomever is the fastest. Glide ratio is not about opinion. It's about which glider actually glides further and sinks slower. I care nothing at all for people's opinions or manufactures marketing bs. I simply test each and every characteristic and then compare them equal for equal. The Dominator provides the very best all around wing currently on the market and until something beats it the date won't matter one bit. They can release "new" wings for the next 15 years in a row but if zero of those "new" wings can actually BEAT the Dominator then the Dominator is the highest technology wing on the market. I hear the liars say all the time about how one should get their new technology wing over the old wings but when the Dominator kicks the crap out of their "new technology" can you actually call it technology? Nope more like stupidity. I can't wait until I find a wing that actually beats the Dominator. Sadly many companies are going the OPPOSITE direction from improving though. They are actually making worse and worse glides that are more and more deadly and with less performance. It's really pretty insane. Their combined lies might fool the ignorant but those who have a bit of logic and wisdom will ignore all opinion and just LOOK at the actual facts.

      Wow. Thanks for the detailed info. I love hearing about all of those little details and I can totally see your points. I don't know why some people are so resistant to your awesome equipment, and even go so far as to lie which is completely unacceptable, but I can tell you that after watching dozens of your videos, and I watch more each day, it quickly became very clear to me that your stuff just simply outperforms the rest. When I first saw one of your videos I didn't know who you were. I had seen your Totally Awesome Computer commercials but that was years ago. The first of your videos I came across was the tandem flycamping video of you and I believe your youngest son. I didn't even know what you were saying when you said Flat Top. Lol, I thought you were talking about the mountain you were on. At first I was stunned that you were bold enough to fly with your little boy like that. But, as I watched more and more of your videos it became more clear that you could do these things because you were very good at what you do and that your equipment was awesome and surprisingly safe. To do the things you do and not have any serious issue or accident after so many years really speaks for itself. Also I too would like to take my daughter flying some day and so I want the safest and best even if it costs more. She has special needs and may never walk but I would love for her to fly if she can. And even if it does cost more I can't comprehend those who would do such a dangerous sport without the absolute best and safest gear. Why would you risk it? Anyways, thanks for the reply sir.
      Oh, and one last thing, I love the fact that you are continually looking for the best and are willing to upgrade. This is apparent in your videos as well to anyone willing to look and listen. It seems that most people just kind of decide what they like and then stay there even if something better comes along. So, I really like the way you are thinking. Keep up the good work.

    • @DellSchanze
      @DellSchanze  6 років тому +3

      Yes I get the question of: "why doesn't everyone fly the best and safest gear" quite a bit. It's like trying to understand why people would vote for Hillary. There simply isn't any logic, reason or rational thought process that works on those like that. Just like in Computers I always offered $1000 to anyone at all who could bring in a computer that would beat one of ours that had similar specs. It wasn't about bragging it was simple logic. If someone really did figure out how to make their computer faster then one of mine then I would learn how they did it and for only $1000! What a bargain. Same thing with paramotors. I don't care who they are or what they fly if they can prove their gear is better then I'll buy it. I can sell any and all the gear out there on the market. I just recommend what I know to be the very best and always work to make it better or find something better. If there is any gear that can make my kids safer and have more performance at the same time then heck it's a no brainer. Aviation should be about truth and reality not sales pitch. Just imagine if the entire industry suddenly became honest and did it like I do. If everyone started with the best gear and then you had all those people working to figure out how to make it even better just think how fast the industry could progress. It's crazy how people just don't think logically like that though. Instead you get thousands of people pushing all kinds of crap and wasting piles of time and money working against truth and reality. Imagine if everyone wanting to be an instructor first came and got the absolute best training and skills themselves! There is absolutely zero reason to work against each other. Instead you have all these people who literally don't even have the most basic skills themselves out there acting like they are "instructors"! Just look at what happens when the truth comes out. Here my brand new student takes off first try but has to land to help the blackhawk "instructor" just try to get off the ground!! Yes this is my brand new student helping their "instructor" try to launch: ua-cam.com/video/vWSiVWdeLIA/v-deo.html then after he finally gets in the air after blowing 6-7 launches my student again takes off first try piece of cake and even does a reverse where the supposed instructor could barely do a forward launch! Or check out this video where a 15 year instructor wanders by SUPER training and suggests that he could of course do anything my students can do... or well until I challenge him to prove it right then and there and my student still in training utterly destroys him: ua-cam.com/video/xofO03FVtJk/v-deo.html this is the straight up reality!! Those like blackhawk, Kurt Fister, Aviator PPG... these people literally don't even have the most basic skills themselves but they are out there totally scamming people into thinking they are "instructors"!!! If they truly were the very best I would go train with them. Why not? Either I could then learn the very best skills or I could find that they were not actually the very best and have video evidence of it. People don't seem to think logically like that though. They know darn well they literally can't even do what my brand new students can do but instead of working to fix that issue they just lie and continue pretending to be experts when they absolutely are not as though they don't care one single bit about people's lives. Before I became the very best I just contracted the training out to the world champion and the US National Paragliding Champion. Then only after there came a point where it was obvious that I had exceeded their skill level that I started doing it myself. There is absolutely no reason for those who don't have even the most basic skills to be trying to train people. I set up the WPPGA Paramotor World Championships just to bring honesty and reality back to the sport. It gives absolutely anyone in the world the ability to compete with me and others directly skill against skill alone with no bs or bias or cheating. If anyone in the world has the ability to beat me they can just post the video and the world would know it. Instead nobody on earth can even beat my student let alone me. Getting the best gear and training should be a very simple matter of logic, reason and facts and should have absolutely nothing to do with opinions or trash talking. If someone is putting out more skilled new students then I am then let's see the video. Instead people whine and talk garbage and tell every lie they can make up about me and pretend that is somehow a reason to train with those who can't even do what my students can do let alone compete with me for actual skills. Instead you ask others to explain why crumple zone and protection from the prop don't matter and ask them to explain why one would buy the unit they push that doesn't have the safety features and their replay is like that of Hillary supporters: Oh that's racist you homophobic xenophobe.

      Absolutely no problem. The Dominator was very specifically designed to be flown mid day in active thermic conditions right through the mountains. There are so many out there pretending to be "instructors" that don't even know the most basic things about the sport. With the Flat Top & Dominator you can literally fly right through rotor and wind sheer no problem at all. I've done it zillions of times. That setup is seriously incredible. SUPER training is mandatory though. They simply don't teach true and real skills anywhere else. I challenge anyone to post a video of any other school showing their new students walking up walls or kiting on a fence post. Or even just reverse kiting with no hands as almost no instructor out there can even do that.

      Hey Dell so I was wondering what mph winds can you fly in? Iv been hearing around 10-15mph is what you can fly and kite in safely but wasn't sure what you thought on that because of your skill as a pilot. I also want to know how much your training runs if you know basic kiting already or already a pilot.

    Dell what size glider did you use in this video....and is it the same size you always fly...

    • @DellSchanze
      @DellSchanze  4 роки тому

      The XXS is one of the more common sizes that I fly but it depends on what I'm doing and where I'm at and the conditions. I use all the different sizes it just depends on what I want to do that day or who I'm flying with. Often I match the size I fly to the size those I fly with are flying vs their weight so we are all a similar speed. Makes it more fun to fly together. If you can only afford just one size though give me a call and I can help you pick the perfect size for you personally. 800-707-2525

    What are the thoughts about the Ozone Mojo PWR?

    • @DellSchanze
      @DellSchanze  7 років тому

      The safety is ok at trim speed the problem is the performance is terrible and it's super heavy. The Dominator is safer and weighs half as much making it so easy to launch that even my 12 year old can do it. What's more though is that the Dominator is the wing I've used to set numerous world records. I set the paramotor world speed record on it at 51mph and just set the paramotor trike world altitude record with it at 18,208 ft recently. So it's the most efficient glider at loading as you can't have max speed without max efficiency. We have the cheaper Ozone wings for $3200 but the Dominator is worth the extra at $3800 because it comes with all the high tech materials that allow it to have the strength and durability but while also being half the weight. One other safety issue I've found with Ozone though is how fast they fall during a collapse. You can see in this video the Dominator has a much better glide ratio and lower sink rate then even their higher performance wings but look at where I hold the collapse and try to continue to fly. That's the LARGE ozone Indy and in a collapse not even full throttle on the most powerful lightweight paramotor in the world can maintain altitude. So it drops like a rock. The Dominator hardly loses any altitude at all during a collapse and with a bit of throttle you can literally keep on flying. So while the Ozone wing isn't a bad wing like those they call "reflex" which are complete death traps the Mojo just isn't anywhere near the class of the Dominator. So hands down I fly the Dominator and we carry over 200 wings I can choose from.

    • @DellSchanze
      @DellSchanze  7 років тому

      Well I wouldn't call them total crap but yes I agree completely there is no reason to get such terrible performance when the Dominator is the fastest wing on the planet at 51mph and is even safer. So you can cut through those high winds and fly pretty much anytime you want and still have the very best safety. Man that Dominator seriously rules. Just flew over the mountains with my 13 year old son today at 1 oclock in 100 degree temps. With Dominators we just blasted right through everything no problem at all and had the lift to soar up over 12,000 ft on the XXXXS and XS.

      I have ready that the original wing was a K2 or something like that.

    • @DellSchanze
      @DellSchanze  7 років тому

      We purchased the K2 from Sky paragliders. The Dominator is the K2 but with all the latest updates in materials and features. It's the best wing Sky has ever made. It out performs all their other wings. Strangely they don't seem to care about having the very best wing. They just keep releasing "new" wings because so many people just assume a "new" wing is better then the other wings when it really doesn't work that way. Since we do a side by side comparison against all the new wings and only switch if it truly is better there just isn't anything at this time that can compete with the Dominator. The second we find something better though then that is what we will be selling.

    How much fuel did he have left?

    • @DellSchanze
      @DellSchanze  7 років тому +6

      He was totally fine. I've done that flight many many times so I know that from that altitude I an almost glide all the way home on the Dominator. So you use very little fuel on the way back. From the other mountain next to there I have shut my motor off and glided all the way back home with my engine off. He was just nervous because he wasn't aware of how little fuel he would need on the way back.
