He gotta save us again
Gary Cohen's voice cracking is my EVERYTHING
As Bartolo enters the Hall Of Fame ballot, I think people will start revisiting this legendary clip, and as the announcers say this moment was one of the great moments in baseball history. We have to remember the Hall Of Fame isn't all about War and Wins, but also about what they brought to the game off the field, bringing old fans back, and new generations into the sport, whether its by extreme talent and/or simply being fun to watch. Luckily it doesn't matter how you might be voting. Bartolo was both.
Gary Cohen's entire call is magnificent, but the icing on the cake is Ron Darling's bewildered "OHHH!!!....." as the ball leaves the bat.
His laugh as the ball goes into the stands is hilarious
"Colon looking for his first hit of the yea-HE DRIVES ONE, DEEP LEFT FIELD"
Lmaoooo
It couldn't be more on-cue than that lmao
I’m an AL guy who likes the DH, but part of me will lament the loss of pitchers batting in the NL to be able to get moments like this.
I watch this ever now and then just to feel good about the world again.
"This is one of the great moments in the history of baseball!" 😂😂😂😂
Imagine how the crowd would react if this was at Citi Field...
Every one would go deaf from the noise
I live on the other side of the country if he hit it at Citi Field I would still hear it
That’s what I was thinking. That would have been even more epic. The fans may have stormed the field like they did when Gibson hit his epic shot.
It's crazy how many Mets fans were there. But I guess maybe it's the norm in San Diego. I was just there Sunday for the first time. Couldn't believe how many NY fans were there. My whole sections was Mets fans! Seemed like half the crowd was NY fans.
Pink Shell Cohn It’s the same thing here. They call Tampa , South NY because there are SO many transplants. We moved here from NJ in the late 80’s and there was a lot then, but it’s just gotten even crazier. Especially the driving. It’s just like being on Route 4 at rush hour. Crazies all over.
But I go to and watch a lot of Rays games and I’ll root for them unless they play the Mets, which is rare. When the play the Mets, Yanks or Sox, it’s like being in an away game. The Rays fans are outnumbered 2:1 at least. It’s crazy. That’s why baseball will never survive here. Too many transplants. Not enough Tampa area natives to be successful. Same thing in Miami.
"He drives, one deep left field, back goes Upton, back near the wall, ITS OUTTA HERE, Bartolo has done it, the impossible has happened"
And that'll make it a 4 - 0 ball game. I don't know if I'll be putting on this headset again.
