Daniel didn't save Kumiko from the bell tower in the film, he saved Yuna. However he did save her (Kumiko) in a fight to the death vs Chozen Toguchi.

"Sure, it's cheesy, but the game doesn't hold back on being a jerk," that is precisely how I viewed games like this as a kid. You have to out-asshole the computer

I'll admit all I can think about with this game is the super duper early Game Grumps episode because it's one of Dan's favorite childhood games and he was just super good at it.
    CHOPSTICKS FLY CATCH!!!

I liked these movies more after I moved to Japan, because they aren't called Karate Kid over there. No, he's leveled up and become Best Kid.

I remember renting this and beating it doing exactly as you said. This was the first game that taught me to fear the rainbow!

In Japan, The Karate Kid film is titled 「ベスト・キッド」(Best Kid) and although the NES game was developed by Japanese company Atlus Co., Ltd., it appears to have been a NA region-only game.
Funny how many of these games are turning out be released for regions other than the developers' own!

    • @NESFriend

That is strange. And maybe Beast Kid would've been better, lol

I had this game as a kid, and of course I really liked it. The spear guys are pretty easy, you can actually jump on the spear without taking damage, which makes them drop the spear. I was always confused about why the girl at the end was afraid of you though, I remember if you keep going right to fight the final boss, she will fall off the cliff which makes you lose.

The biggest problem with this game, IMO, is that jump is up. Honwestly, if they replaced the punch buttom with jump, this game would be better.

Did you know that the title of the movie was taken from a DC comic character? Dont know if that was info that would've broken the flow of the episode (yes I listened to that podcast).
I remember liking the first movie, the 2nd a bit less, then not watching 3 or 4/the next karate kid (the girl one), the remake, or cobra kai. I loved he lived in Reseda, because I lived in the general area when I saw this movie for the 1st time.

2 things. 1) I remember liking only the chopsticks and ice block mini games in Karate kid because it made me feel like a larusso badass. The swinging thing and the rest of the game sucked because I kept falling and getting stuck, etc... The things you reported on.
      2) As for Flying Warriors, it's the only game where I bugged my mom enough to rent it for a like a month straight to try and beat it (because I was so in to it). I have played it recently. The controls are more clunky than I remember, but I guess that's what we were used to when NES was the only thing around.

One of those channels where the angry guy never gives the game a fair shake and Doesn't even care because he gets other people to play the games, capture foptage and write the reviews for him which he then reads off a teleprom..... F**k there goes the onion !

I’d really like this game, if the controls weren’t atrocious. Seriously, making jump the up button on the D-pad, for a platformer is one of the worst decisions in gaming history.
