David Wise absolutely crushed the soundtrack for Pin*Bot. Still one of my fave NES soundtracks of all time (even if it is NES renditions of the actual table's tunes)
I had Rock 'n' Ball as I kid. I played vs mode a bunch with my friend. I don't know what happened to my original cartridge, but last year, I found a copy fairly cheap at a retro game store.
I actually picked up black box Pinball at a thrift shop a few months ago for dirt cheap, I was actually surprised just how fun it was! Sure, it's simple, but sometimes the minimal-thrills video pinball is just what you need. My personal recommended if you're in a video pinball mood is the two Pokémon Pinball titles. Even if you aren't super into the main series, they're just well made pinball games all around with solid physics, and the Pokémon catching aspect adds a layer of progression besides just high scores that keeps you coming back
I used to own every pinball and shootemup on Genesis. This includes getting Repro's of Bootleg Korean games. Devil's Crush is the greatest video Pinball game ever made. The Genesis port was renamed Dragon's Fury due to parents being hesitant to buy kids with Devil in it's name. Did you know the Genesis has an exclusive sequel created by Tengen? It's called "Devil's Revenge" and sports just as amazing and cool graphics as Devil's Crush but ultimately it's not as good a game (What is?) but it's still absolutely worth a go though if your a Devil's Crush fan.
@@Wallyworld30 Have you played Demon's Tilt yet? It was heavily inspired by Devil's Crush and is available on Steam and various consoles. I was participating in Global Game Jam (a game dev hackathon) not too long ago and I was very close to convincing my team to make a "Souls-like Pinball RPG", but because most of my team members were new to game dev we ended up making a platformer with an unfinished tutorial level. Anyway, I was heavily inspired by Demon's Tilt, so I thought I'd mention.
@@maverick_loneshark I'd never heard of Demon's Tilt and I just checked it out and damn that looks amazing like a souped up Devil's Crush. Thanks for the heads up! I proper RPG Pinball game has potential to be the most popular pinball videogame ever made! Hopefully you one day can circle back and get that created!
@@ggbetz SNES had Jaki Crush and it's not bad it's the 3rd game made by "Compile" the team behind Alien Crush and Devil's Crush and also created the amazing Shootemup Series "Aleste" aka "MUSHA". Sega Genesis had a sequel to "Dragon's Fury" not created by Compile called Dragon's Revenge. This game was made by Atari/Tengen and is a Genesis Exclusive. It's not as good as Dragon's Fury but it's still great as far as Pinball games go. The intro has a ladies face in the middle of the table morph into a Dragon face is a cool effect. A 5th Crush game was made for Wii Ware Shop called "Alien Crush Returns". It's now gone into the aether since Wii Ware Shop is gone. I can't for the life of me figure out why all those Wii Ware games didn't get ported to steam and just let cool game disappear forever. The Korean Bootleg games had a few excellent games. A company called Piko Interactive is taking the really good Bootleg games and removing the stolen assets from them and replacing them with new legal assets and sells them from their website. I've bought 2 games from them and they have nice clamshell cases and nice artwork. I bought "Water Margin" and "Canon Legends of the New Gods". You get your game shipped quickly and they are reasonably priced. Piko isn't creating a new game wholesale just liscensing a game and translating it to English and removing Illegal assetts if it's a bootleg. Piko isn't like Watermelon who make all new Genesis games from scratch but it takes years for you to finally get the game.
I'll always have something of a soft spot for the black box Nintendo because it was one of the first video games to bring back Pauline (and...I THINK the first time she was a brunette) Even if that one music loop REALLY sounds like the "Mother told me, yes she told me I'd meet girls like you" part from Cheap Trick's Surrender.
Great video! It's not the most sophisticated game of the bunch but I have that nostalgic soft spot for black box Pinball, that was a frequent rental for my brothers and me back then.
Pinball Quest looks awesome. Perhaps playing on emulation with save slots will fix the having to start from scratch issue? I'm gonna give this one a go!
Existen 2 juegos mas de pinball para nes que quedaron solo en japón ó solo fueron un prototipo, "Super Pinball" y "Super Sushi Pinball", son muy buenos.
What no pinball videos of my pinball machines? xD Ok I kid. But I did notice we both watch Joe's Classic Games. ;) I agree with the High-Speed and Pin Bot games on NES. I love them but the enemy thing ruins it for me and I just go play My High-Speed and High-Speed II after playing it once or twice.
Rock n Ball has the most variety but I enjoy the simplicity of black box pinball. Game B is more enjoyable and faster. The RPG Mode in Pinball Quest is neat but punishing. I never got very far in it because of how it screws you.
@@NESFriend That might make it even worse, for as soon as you finally get used to playing on the top board, you get switched to the bottom board again.
I would have bet cash money you were going to end it with "Dont let space ghosts take your balls, and thanks for watching"
I agree with that message!

Black Box Pinball is nostalgic for me, our super religious aunt allowed an NES in her house for some reason, had that and Circus Caper.
Rock'n'Ball is actually a Namco game in Japan, that in fact it is named Family Pinball and has Namco characters and a Namco themed board.
Now that you said it, I can't unsee Ganon's face.
I've recently found your channel and really liking it so far, wish I had found it sooner!
Hey no worries, it's just getting good 😊
I love pinball and video pinball is fun, as long as the physics are remotely there. Don't get me started on Mario Pinball Land. 😂
Never thought pinball quest would be the game to break Trav.
💀💀💀
We've all been there, buddy. I hope someone makes a save/checkpoint mod and you beat it someday

Played Pin-Bot my entire childhood definitely my favorite out of the 6!
Glad to see some more pinball games... only really ever played Crue Ball on Mega Drive and Devil's Crush on the Turbo Grafx.

Fun fact, I grew up with a Pinball Machine in my basement. Then they took it away, they took it away! I have never recovered.
HAL always had a knack for pinball games. Roller Ball looks fun, I’ll have to snag it. They were gods of gameboy pinball
I bought Pin Bot based on box art alone when I was a kid. I wasn't even that big of a fan of pinball, but the box got me.

im never gonna unsee the ganon face omg cant believe i never noticed
Great video! It's not the most sophisticated game of the bunch but I have that nostalgic soft spot for black box Pinball, that was a frequent rental for my brothers and me back then.
I think it holds up well despite its simplicity
Or...in spite of? No annoying music and a simple, uncluttered board.
Great job! I really enjoyed this extra thicc episode.
I love Rollerball's main theme enough that it never gets old for me
nice review! i had more luck with pinball quest when i used stoppers in the upper levels.
Rock N Ball sounds like some good 2 player fun, may need to break that out sometime
Do it! Heck, fun solo too
Ganon's tooth just transformed into a chick. How bad is dental hygiene in Hyrule?!
You'd think not bad with a steady diet of chicken and lonlon milk
Pinball Quest...one of those games where save states save the fun.
Once you see Ganon - you can't unsee him 0_0
I didn't know Ganon at all when I was a kid, I saw the pig character from TMNT haha
Bebop!
Pinball Quest def lends itself to a top choice for a remake. Would fit in with the experimental scene of indie games that goes on these days.
Happy Wednesday everyone!

12:17 Why did they need to stop gameplay? The NES has a digital audio channel.
