The characters are scientists, not comedians. The actors are comedians.
Ah, ok, thanks.

NESfriend makes me feel good!
Lots of bustin, but does it make you feel good?
Ghostbusters on C64 was originally supposed to be a car-action game. When Activision got the license they rushed to convert the car game into a Ghostbusters game before the end of 1984. The original game is a very 1984 home computer design, so it was an odd game to port directly 4 years later.
Also the NES port was the worst. The Master System version is so much better.
This is a high quality channel. It will make it big one day.
Even though the movies were pretty old at the time, I was absolutely obsessed with Ghostbusters as a little kid. I watched both movies over and over, The "Real" Ghostbusters was in syndication. Despite having an NES in our house and me being crazy about games, I never played any Ghostbusters game until the one that came out on PS3 and 360 in 2008.
The HAL one looks a lot of fun, though, and if I recall correctly, it got a Game Boy adaptation that actually got a North American release
Had to go into the office today. Came home to find a new NESfriend! Score!
I have great nostalgic memories of playing this on the C64 for hours while wearing my Ghostbusters t-shirt with my name on the back with big iron-on letters
I had a lot of fun with the Imagineering GB2, definitely agree that the Statue of Liberty stage NEVER SEEMS TO END lol
Great video!
sucks we didn't get New GB2. Discovering it via emulation was a treat.
First, I FOUGHT the Statue of Liberty as a ghost (Zombie Nation)
Then, I WAS the Statue of Liberty fighting ghosts (Ghost Busters II)
You get to do it all with the power of the Nintendo Entertainment System™
Statue of Libertipede looks pretty sick
New Ghostbusters 2 is pretty fun. I bought a reproduction cartridge and a case for my NES collection since it never came to North America!
Always love seeing an upload from you!
Thanks Jamie! Hope to see you in the comments more often
Busters!
Thanks for posting!! Ghostbusters is a huge staple in my family! Have a great day!

I remember playing GB2 at a friend’s house growing up and being very frustrated that you couldn’t actually pause the game! (Or our 6 year old brains couldn’t figure it out)
I wanna love this game series just can’t. Lol though your channel always has me thinking hmm maybe I’m wrong. Great vid!!
i appreciate the 4:3 content, great channel
I saw a video once where was shown you can open the doors in the Zuul-builing. In one or two there is something useful.
The second game i had for the Atari ST in europe. It was very like the american version, you had to come down to the tunnel first.
You can open a few off the doors. Some can also hurt you!
I agree, the north american versions are not that bad, I played and beat GB2 back in the day, it brings me good memories, but it was definitely undercooked, I think we should send it back to the "Kitchen" (insert laughs here). Thank you Trav for this great video!
i missed the videos Trav!
Some could say the quality of this franchise is…cursed?
I was so angry the weekend I rented the first Ghostbusters. It should be called run a business simulation and I understand the pressing the a button is supposed to be tiring like climbing stairs
Have beaten the first game numerous amount of times without buying any of the "preferred" items. Never enough funds to get them in the course of the game.
Why right to left for GB2? How did they come to this decision, I wonder?
Was this an art problem? Was it programming? Was it a choice just because?
I am baffled.
Fun vid though.
The only one I've played was the second game, back in the day. It's got a good concept overall but lacks imagination and the gameplay can be ruthless especially on the car parts. I guess there was not technology enough to implement it in a satisfying way yet. The first one is hideous. And the third is actually a surprise
I was gifted this by a kid in my neighborhood who didn't want it anymore in the very early 90s. I think I played it once.
Ghostbusters 1 and 2 were the most disappointing games from my childhood seeing as I was a huge Ghostbusters fan.
The second was definitely better but I couldn't even beat the first level as a kid. I remember I brought it to the Babysitters and her son got really far in it and it was the only time I saw past the first level.
I call single moms haha
Once again, spared two duds for being in Europe...not that New Gb 2 is anything stunning.
The problem with GB1 is it feels like the developers had very little to go by as references. Generic characters in a generic looking city and the game also feels rushed. GB2 is a much more playable game and sticks closer to it's movie source but has that typical Imagineering jank. New GB2 is fine for what it is but I don't think it's the best game in the series.
While im not gonna deny that ghostbusters nes was a bad title, its not as egregious as ppl make it out to be and its not even THAT diffrent from the C64 release, which ppl claim to love. The only thing that makes the nes version especially bad is the long crawl up the zuul building, general unresponsive controls, and maybe the grind. GB C64 is honestly only mid at best without these features that only the nes has.
I think it has something to do with ppl not realizing that avgn is supposed to be a PARODY of over reactionary reviewers and not a real opinion. Ghost busters is one of his most popular episodes, and i think everyone just wanted to jump on the bandwagon to feel cool or something.
Its obvious that GB2 USA was the most egregious of the three, but avgn didnt cover it, so it gets off scott free 😂.
The C64 GB1 is a better game than the NES one; no fuel, the shop is done at the beginning, and no endless stairs stage. NES one is fine, if the fuel gauge in annoying, until the stairs level, which is terrible. The Master System version is the best port though.
C64 GB2 is also better than the NES one, but that isn't saying much. It's a terrible collection of mini games. You should try it out. And suffer. The best from that era is the Genesis GB, which had it's own story, and was a solid platformer. There's a special edition hack out with Winston and Louis added, among other things.
There is a Windows freeware remake of both GB C64 games.
I see countless people hopping on the hate bandwagon for NES games, especially after AVGN features them. Ghostbusters deserves the hate. The best thing about that game is that brief moment of dread when you start up The Three Stooges.
