Dave Allen was truly the master of taking a simple joke or scene and throwing in an unexpected and very original twist at the end. One of my favourite comedians and sadly missed.
I grew up watching Dave Allen. After all this time my sides are hurting from laughing some comedies don’t age well he’s a timeless Great to see you enjoy them
Takes me back to when I watched Dave Allen with my dad decades ago, both laughing like kids until my mum heard that I was still downstairs and then the ceiling would bang to her footsteps as she came down to make me go to bed ready for school.
That run like hell sketch reminded me of a tv documentary about 'Gazza' an English footballer after the end of his career. He was being followed by a TV crew- walking on the way to his fathers( i think) and he stopped at the door, rang the bell waited a mo and then rang off leaving the TV crew to explain to the householder unconnected to Gazza why they were there.
OMG I remember some of those sketches from watching them when they first came out, I was living in the UK then and I was 13, that was exactly half a century ago!
I've always liked Dave Allen my uncle used to watch his show when I was quite young, but I found it funny then and liked his sense of humour and his way of putting surprises in simple jokes, have you noticed that one of his fingers is missing the top half.
Hi E.B., I knew you would enjoy his sketches. I`m sorry to hear we`ve missed out on your reactions to part`s 2 & 3. Not sure if I told you before but (Dave Allen At Large) episodes of his `70`s show are available on You Tube, should you wish to watch them. There should be some horror story sketches as well, but I have not come across them yet on You Tube.
The BBC Complaint line. If front line agents could say what they want to without repercussion, there'll likely be a lot fewer people who don't know why everyone they meet is rude and won't help them. Yes interrupt me when I'm responding to your question one more time you can piss off and come back when you have the capability to listen. It's far easier to remain silent and finish a crossword puzzle until they run out of steam. I especially enjoy that with people who arrive at the wrong department. I'm sure it's far easier to handle in person with body language but it really shouldn't be necessary. What is your complaint and what do you want us to do about it. If that takes more than three sentences you're not doing it right.
Have you ever seen a Carry On movie? If not, I suggest you first watch compilations of the many movies. Made from the 1950s to 1970s which mainly the same cast between films, with many great British comedians/actors and saucy seaside humour. Popular here since they began.
Any man that says he hasn't been eyeing up a female from behind whilst driving his car, only to be shocked to find out it's another man as he drives past at least once in his life is no friend of the truth I say.
My mature female friend was walking up the street, tight leopard skin leggings, long blond hair, was cat called by a male passenger in a van, when he got past her and saw she wasn’t a teenager, he shouted ‘past yer sell by date hen!’ She howled with laughter , cheeky bugger
I cannot speak for others but I would be interested to hear your views on why you love British comedy and how you think it differs to American comedy. I know you did a video reacting to Stephen Fry's opinion but I would love to hear the perspective of an American who has been exposed to the variety of our comedy in the last few years. Kind regards LA
You seem to have developed an audio level problem. The clip audio level is significantly lower than your own mic and the inserted Advertisment audio levels, which makes setting the playback level a bit tricky.
No one quite like Dave Allen and always a treat as he wasn't on TV that much & the BBC banned him for a while as some of his religious jokes/sketches proved too controversial.
I think you need to take a look a "The fall and rise of Reginald Perrin". Leonard Rossiter stars, who i know is a favourite of yours. Its a bit dated but a classic.
Classic...a much missed man...Father Ted continued in the same vein...thanks for sharing this with us all...peace and love from the wirral peninsula....Tranmere Rovers won today....E
Am sorry but Father Ted was nothing like this bloke. Father Ted was thoughtless, simple humour in my opinion. Dave Allen was intelligent made to seem simple and that's why it's was so brilliant and still stands the very difficult test of time. Just my opinion of course.

Adorable Dave Allen, all time favourite.
Dave is truly a master story teller, and was one of the funniest guys on the planet
Interesting fact. The man that he sits on in the restraunt, Is the guy who played R2D2 in star wars. Love your reactions fella.
Kenny Baker ?

Funny now !funny then! funny forever!.rip Dave Allen may your fun go with you👍
Great British comedy & entertainment. Those were the days ❤
It was game played by kids in the UK called Knock Down Ginger (US Doorbell Ditch).
He had a unique sense of humour. Any situation he could find amusement. Met him him and explained the affect he has had on my life. God rest him.
Just a legend is our dave, enough said really!
OMG I remember some of those sketches from watching them when they first came out, I was living in the UK then and I was 13, that was exactly half a century ago!
He was great, and good looking too, I cannot recall any comedy today, as good as we had back then.
So glad you share these I used to watch these as a kid with Catholic and protestant friends, we used to laugh our heads of in Belfast northern Ireland
Yessss, Dave was King!
Cheers and thanks again EB!
That hitchhiker tickled your fancy😂
Dave Allen was brilliant. The way he flipped a sketch around was brilliant.
People with a lazy eye..
"Uzi" as in "Uzi looking at?"
Or "Isiah" ... One Isiah than the other... 😁
That was Kirsten Cooke at the start (Michelle, "Listen very carefully I will say this only once", from 'Allo 'Allo)
The halo sketch at the end was brilliant, perfect!
The hitch hiker thing happened exactly like that to me driving between Johannesburg and Capetown many years ago.
This was a great treat.
The short guy at 7:55 is none other than R2D2. 😁
the dwarf he sat on in the restaurant scene was Kenny Baker, better known as R2D2.
The dwarf in the booth with the lady was Kenny Baker, R2D2
11:05 Not many ticket offices like that about nowadays!
Not many ticket offices full stop...
Your Reviews the Best EB
Love You ❤

The second from last sketch. You paused it, and missed the newspaper headline saying, 'MAN RUN OVER BY STEAMROLLER'. Hence the narrow coffin. :o)
From the first sketch, Dave Allen could have been Pierce Brosnan's brother!
Hilarious stuff, great reaction, thanks!

Great video Mr E.B. Many thanks.
Can’t remember the last time I saw some children playing knock down ginger they probably spend too much time on their Xbox’s 😉
His show was always the talk of the playground the next day.
A quick cameo by R2D2 himself Kenny Baker.....
03:41 at least he died happy 🤣
"One eye looking at you, the other looking for you"

I passed Dave Allen in the street in Hong Kong. I fell in love with him 💘
7:58 - a future R2D2
The girl in the second sketch is a young Kate Moss. Later to become world famous as a model.

4:00 - The poor guy died of dehydration or a heart attack.
Knock down ginger ( knock and run)
Greatest Irishman.
I get the impression Dave liked the ladies lol.

was that kenny baker from star wars?
Dave Allen's humour is so missed
Sorry mate, volume on max. Only thing i can hear is yourself laughin.
Our form of humour should take your mind off the clowns in the White House hopefully.
No one quite like Dave Allen and always a treat as he wasn't on TV that much & the BBC banned him for a while as some of his religious jokes/sketches proved too controversial.
Did they ?
Volume's too low... can barely hear it
Yeah, I was about to put the same thing.
Now because of PC, we can't see anything like this again.
The volume is too low. I can't hear it.
😂😂❤

You must watch, if you haven't already. Dave Allen on sperm, even funnier than his religion and time teaching. in my opinion.
