Thanks for restoring my faith in Americans. Iknow you are insanely unique but I hope there are lots like you.
He survived decades of the Catholic Church’s wrath, death threats from the IRA and a ban by Irish and Australian TV, only to have his television career end in controversy when he used the f-word in an innocuous joke. He was banned from the main tv station here RTE..
In England we loved the bones of him though
His Aussie ban was very short lived, Danny Morrison, among others, said he was a great favourite amongst the Republican prisoners in Long Kesh
@@TheGarryq He saw the catholic church for what it was long before the laundry horror's became national news.. Man before his time
@@juliahamilton2282 And don't forget the Holy Paedos!
@@sprinter1832 And the correct (abbreviated) spelling of Paedos (one hardly ever sees it with the correct ligature, the conjoined a&e). I salute you, Sir.
I always loved Dave Allen I remember my grandad used to let me stay up and watch when I was a kid. My grandad and Dave Allen are the reason I’m an atheist.
So enjoyable hearing you laugh, I joined it chuckling with you at Dave Allen.
i laughed, my irish dad walked away every time he started on the pope LOL
I got a good laugh everytime you started laughing, your laugh is so infectious. Peace to you too.
The wife of the 'flying man', was that Sheila Steafel? - who played, amongst other roles, The White Lady in 'The Ghosts of Motley Hall'
Dave Allen and Dick Emery both hilarious comedians for their time. Laughter all the way. Hello from London
Dave Allen's 10 pound note clip on you tubes a must.
I was pretty young when these were aired originally so the sketch with the minefield would have been funny but some went over my head. The same with the Two Ronnies, when you get a little older and can appreciate the craftmanship they really do show what great comedy is all about.
Hi there you shold try this out..The Good, the Bad and the Ugly - The Danish National Symphony Orchestra (Live) It is mindblowing..
Hi, just subbed to your channel as you have a very interesting mix of reaction vids. For Dave Allen, try the one where he spots a £10 note stuck under a parked car wheel, so waits in a local café until the owner drives off...Also, the 'who farted in church' is hilarious and a unique sketch - watch it & you'll see why.
I reaction to my link would be great dude. Loving all the videos 👌👌
Aww we are missing the race to bury the coffins sketch.
I think some of those sketches have been re-used by 80s/90s comics. I can't remember who specifically but I remember the same things happening with different people.
Love dave Allen and check out benny Hill or Kenny Everett
You should watch some Still Game... Scotlands biggest TV comedy show! It's about men in their 30s playing 70 year old men and showing their life's.
Was brought up on dave Allen as a kid, don't make em like him anymore
Ahh british humour at its best.
try some spike miligan
I wish we could bottle up your laugh and open it up when we’re having a bad day. It’s so infectious.
Jolliest laugh I've heard in ages!
From the boots !!
Yip the hairy ones laughter is medicine would love to see him react to the YOUNG ONE'S and BOTTOM
Infectious might not be the best word to use right now, Lol 😂👍🇬🇧🏴
It's to hear people laugh 🤗
Dave Allen is my favourite comedian of all time. His take on things like religion, telling the time, and kids is legendary.
I preferred David Tynan O'Mahoney.
@@nickgov66 That was the same person. Learn the internet before commenting. I feel sorry for you, obviously, but still quite cross.
@@AntonGully I knew that already actually, Anton, there is no need to be such an insulting little shit.
He was brilliant. Top 3 for me.
I have only just discovered him. So far, some of the funniest stuff I’ve seen in a long ol’ time…. How have I never come across him?? I’m puzzled!!!
Having grown up in London in the 1960s and 70s, I was a big fan of Dave Allen's, so I felt extremely privileged to get to know him when we were both members of the same health club in Kensington during the mid 1990s. I have fond memories of spending many afternoons, sitting in a sauna with him, when he told me about his early career in television, as well as a priceless anecdote that involved my father, who had worked in theatres during the late 50s and early 60s. He also told me that the BBC had wiped all of his early shows from the tapes they used to record television back then, due to the cost of the tapes, which they recycled. As a result, the first series of his tv show for the BBC was entirely erased and as far as I'm aware, none of it was archived. He was a lovely and generous man and he retained his sense of humour long after his tv career was over.
Yes, he was a true Legend, probably one of the greatest comedians that ever lived.
But unfortunately, we will never get this kind of comedy again, due to Political Correctness!
Oh dear, let's be miserable all our lives!
A bit long winded, but I do understand, I read every word! 👌
That's awesome you got to know him a bit and talk with him.
Thanks for the anecdote! I like his fairytale sketch withe the Princess who could not laugh.
@@paulcrombie9623 Yes, apologies for longwindedness. Written in a hurry and posted without editing. I've edited it slightly now and improved the syntax.
Dave Allen was a brilliant writer and comic.. mind you you either like him or you don't many sad people had issues with him about his religious jokes! I loved him!
Look i think he was really funny. However people who don't are not SAD. There are many comics i just don't find ffunny that others do. I know this is a tough concept for youtube but people can have differing tastes without being wrong or sad
@@artful1967 So long as we can all agree that the Catholic church has been a haven for child-molesters and paedophiles. Like Dave Allen said.
People that reviled him for his opinions valued dogma over people. That’s how genocides start.
Just brilliant. Dave Allen was world class.
A lot of today,s foul mouthed so-called comedians would do well to take a leaf from Dave Allen and others from the 70's
he was foul mouthed live, same as Bob Monkhouse, they all cleaned it up for TV
@@andychinn3671 I agree totally, but you knew if you chose to see them live, you knew that they may be offensive, so if you didn't like it you would not go. If you are watching TV with your family it would be nice to know that foul language would not be prevalent.
You obviously haven't seen his comedy routine about ''the clock''.
It caused a bit of outrage in the, I think, 1990's when he did it.

Dave Allen, gods own comedian.
I heard more stories about how he lost his finger than I can remember.
Yes he lost it as a child & his father to help him deal with this told him when people asked him how he lost his finger to never tell the same story. I guess he learnt from that to use his imagination & humour to deal with anything in his life : )
@@chrislawley6801 yes, I remember that coming up in the film on his life.
@@johnsharp6618 Great film though could have been longer as felt the ending was rushed
@@chrislawley6801 totally agree there,
He lost his finger when his father was cutting wood from a felled tree. 100% confirmed. The whole mystery was about whose fault it was. He was a kid, so...
The fires just gone out.
It’s such a simple joke but bloody hysterical. Dave’s sketches and stand up are timeless and always give me a serious case of the giggles.
Yes, it's like the recent advert when someone says "The boiler's gone" and you see the boiler running up the road.
Good afternoon from the Isle of Man 👍🇮🇲. Dave is brilliant to watch , timeless.......😁
This takes me back to my home, me and my sister, mother and father sitting around the TV watching this laughing our heads off, real family favourite. You had the same reactions as we did. Love it and thanks.
He was also an amazing storyteller, you should check out the clips where he’s just sat in chair with a glass of whiskey.
I'm with you on that one tom he was at he's most priceless best on that. Chair or very often a stool.seeing these clips of Allen brings back happy memories
He liked people to think it was whiskey and water, but it was champagne.
Fantastic! He was great and much missed. I recommend you watch his stories, he was brilliant at them , really drawing you in, then the punch line! You will enjoy! .x
good afternoon from Hampshire UK . your laugh is just so cool :-)
Hants here also
That 13 minutes just flew by. Alan, you have the most infectious laugh.
Thank you
Good afternoon from Gloucester, England. It’s laughter we need more of during these difficult times.
✌️
Dave Allen was a comedic genius, I sure miss his style of comedy.

I wonder what you might make of Kenny Everett? Perhaps a bit too British and certainly of it's time!
I think you'd love Kenny Everitt Alan.
I saw some Kenny Everett for the first time in like 40 years, and it was way more racey than I remember.
Hell yeah but it's all done in the best possible taste
Maybe try to find his woodworker sketches with his Reg Prescott character and go from there...
Funny thing with the English is we all speak their language AND NONE OF US CAN UNDERSTAND a word that comes out their pie holes??? I speck 3 languages English Australian and Kiwi but have trouble understanding them(ozzys and poms)
Your reaction to dave Allen is always golden.. I remember all those sketches from back in the day lol.. Dave Allen was an awesome comic..
If you like British Humour like that. Try Benny Hill
I think Benny Hill was just grubby with his innuendoes . Sorry but he's not a patch on many old British comedians.
Benny was more slapstick - very unasuming man though. Despite his success he he lived with his mother in a small town home in Southampton.
Brilliant 😂
Can you react to Ronnie barker round of drinks you will find it hilarious
Can definitely do so.
Good reaction! :o) On the actual video, top left, it shows 1/4, 1 of 4, so, there must be another 3, somewhere?
Had me crying.... forgotton just how funny Dave Allen was 😆
I had a very liberal upbringing as a child and was allowed to watch Dave Allen in the early '70s. The show used to always end with a 'horror' sketch, often a werewolf, which used to put the wind up me a little!
I've seen all these so many times that I'm now getting more of a laugh from you laughing. Thanks. Cheered me up.
Thanks bro. Made my afternoon. I love dave Alan and love that laugh of yours. Wots not to like❤👍😉
Hi ! Am from the UK , not seen Dave Allen for a long time since the show broadcasts 👍 Hilarious ! Cheers!😊
I belly laughed at that .awesome 👏👏
Awesomeness. Cheers to you.
I think Dave Allen bridged the gap to the outside world of comedy from the UK. Not many other comedians of this time were relatable abroad.
He wasnt from the UK. He was Irish.
😂😂😂thanks for stopping the tape between sketches I was laughing to 👍🏻👍🏻🇬🇧
I wonder why they didn't include the race to the grave yard and the money under the car wheel amongst these sketches?
Can we please have a 30 minute video of your laughter? You would be doing the world a great service 😉
Want to laugh at different alternative British comedy? I urge you to check out "not the nine o'clock news" 80s humour at its best. ☺☺
You really need to understand the events of that time from a British perspective to really get the best from that show though - topical satire at its best though.
Dave Allen was an absolute genius: his religious sketches alone should make him eligible for sainthood!
Thanks man, lovin' it :) Laugh, laugh... then laugh again :)
Thanks for sharing this. Those jokes never get old, even after so many years.
Greetings from Sunderland 🏴
Best wishes to your family 🤗
Much love to you and yours as well.
Dave Allen is my all time favourite comedian. His stand up (or rather sit down with a single malt and pack of cigs) is outstanding, especially if you're fond of atheist comedy 😁
😂😂 brilliant , silly but hilarious
Thank you for sharing the laughter in these lockdown days, good stuff, best wishes from the wirral..E
What happened to humour.....Dave Allen was one of many. back in the sixties seventies eighties ...interesting watching your reaction and observations....your spot on....my missus is from USA...after decades in Scotland she still notices wacky things I seeem to be oblivious too.....have fun ....best wishes from Scotland
True story about Dave Allen Sheffield late 70,s came on stage asked people in audience who was Catholic. A woman stood up and said me Dave asked her ' HOW long have you been married ' lady replied 23 years '
And how many children have you.
' two ' she said.
Dave shot back ' sit down your no Catholic 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Dave Allen was up there with the greats of British comedy and he was often a lot more edgy than the rest, used to love his shows from an early age.
Hi from the UK. Your reactions & laughter are priceless & have me laughing just as hard. Keep laughing my friend.
the 70's and 80's was a golden era for british comedy, but we still produce some good stuff like lee evans although he's already retired :-(
I heard an interview on the radio with Mitchell and Webb who did sketch shows but moved into sitcoms and the host said he loved their former output. David Mitchell said that sadly, no-one commissions sketch shows anymore as UA-cam has so many sketches and collections of sketches on there. Shame. An overused phrase but Dave Allen was a Comic Genius though!
Don't know if you've seen the Irish Olympics by Spike Milligan but its one of the funniest clips ever
Thanks for the awesome upload Electric Beard, Dave allen was a great guy to watch over many years, and sadly not with us anymore. stay safe bud. respect.
I've been looking for one of the sketches he did about bringing a friend to see his new high tech chair that has massage functions, etc. End of the sketch the friend sits in the chair and says "bugger me" and Allen replies in horror "nooooo"....
Your seeing Dave for the first time, I grew up watching him, the man was one fantastic comic.
this was in the days when jokes were funny, nobody was worried about upsetting some poor little snowflake.
Would like to see you react to Tommy Cooper his style of comedy is brilliant
Got him bookmarked.
@@TheEclecticBeard I'm glad to hear that - he's absolutely brilliant and really up there with the best, but a very, very different style of comedy - I would call it anarchic! He actually died onstage in front of a live TV audience - I was at home watching it - tragic. Hugely enjoying your channel, as you strike me as a down to earth kind of guy with a good sense of humour, coupled with a tolerant and gentle attitude. Keep on laughing!
And Some Mothers do 'ave me.
You really need to find Dave Allen's monologues . They are better then his sketches
Have you seen his first day at school? Really worth checking out.
Grew up with dave Allen, a true comedians comedian. I don't think I will ever forget 'and may you're god go with you'
As a kid I first met Dave Allen on a long flight, he kept me entertained for sure! I remember his antics about his amputated pinkie lol. A few years later we saw him live and even then he remembered me and had us backstage afterwards (of course he made me part of his act first lol). A genuine guy as friendly as you'd expect. His trademark cigar and whiskey wasn't just for show lol.
I was laughing my arse off watching this, and I’m from the UK
Dave Allen was the best. Im 68 and lucky to have seen them all when they first aired BUT you laughing is the best tonic I've had in years.
My husband came into the room to find out who was laughing. He loves your laugh. 🤗
One dislike, our sincerest condolences, they must be brain dead or something
I think I laughed more with you than at the sketches. You have a great laugh, mate!
Wow 50 years ago when we watched Dave Allen, great family favorite.
Thanks for making me laugh so much. One of my grandson had just sent me a photo of his new hair cut and i was feeling sad .Because of our lockdown i havnt been able to see much of my 15 grandchildren and I miss them
I'm so sorry to hear that, that's awful. I hope you can see them again soon.
Programme about him on bbc2 6th March at10pm
Mind your language show, was a classic comedy gold too
The laugh is very infectious! Also, Dave Allen was a genius beyond his time
The greatest along with Dick Emery
I haven't seen some of these clips in years, they're brilliant. The horse clip cracked me up.
OK. I laughed myself silly when these were first on television.
I laughed again when I found them on UA-cam.
But watching you, watch them 30/40 years later has absolutely killed me.
Thank you so much for reminding me how funny he was
Lovely kind man. So so funny
Even my religious catholic gran would watch him. God bless him.
It’s greT to see an American getting Brit Humor 🤪
OMG! I can’t believe, I grew up watching this. My parents were fkin fantastic!
The British are just masters of sketch humour.
You have wisdom sir.
Your right to much political correctness
UK humour - the best in the World...
What's interesting, is that Dave Allen was a Catholic and used to take the piss out of the Church.
He loved his Whiskey and smoke, he was so funny, sadly he has gone now, he was one of the best comedians we have ever had here in the UK, ☺
Why do you say that Dave Allen was a Catholic? Everything I've read says that he was an unabashed atheist.
@@lordsummerisle87 He went to Catholic school, yes he became an atheist, but according to the church you never leave.
I don't know what makes me laugh more ,the sketches or the beards laugh !! Absolutely brilliant 😄
Probably the finest comedian to come out of Ireland
Knew you would love this, great memories, cheers bud.
