I work with epoxy resin and it works exactly the same way.
When you have a product that is a base and a catalyst, it is a chemical reaction that gives you the end result. The product during the curing process has an exothermic reaction. (It generates heat) Ambient temperature and humidity also are a huge factor in the curing time.
When you go to finish the sides I would mix up an entire kit, and divided into 4 paint pans. Each member of family grabs a roller and works in their designated quadrant.
When you get ready to do the bottom of the tank I would pour the entire mixed contents into the center bottom of the tank. Using a regular size paint roller on an extension pole will give you the reach you need to go from side-to-side without having to be inside the tank and covering the surface completely before it cure. Y'all would be done in no time.
Little flower p, wow how nice to give such excellent advice! Thank you!
Good luck with your pool
We are thinking about getting a tank this year! This will be on the list of things to do to prep the tank but will be working on all of us painting to get it done before it hardens! Great information!
if you get it done when its not hot outside it will work quickly and be amazing , it was just way to hot that day.
get a poly tank way better..you do nothing to it ever
Pretty color
It was looking beautiful ❤.. it's sucks that it hardened so quick.. I'm assuming you got it finished and will be enjoying it this summer 🏝️
Same thing happened to me! I was doing my 2x2x6 stock tank last night and the epoxy kicked pretty fast. I just bought another can, but I'm thinking I might have to divide it into three or four rounds, or I just have to pour it into the bottom of the tank ASAP, and just work it around as fast as I can. Maybe adding alcohol will help as well
It's a chemical reaction to dry all of the mixture has to be used in that 20min. the temperature outside also speeds up drying time good luck.Use a bigger roller for faster application
Pretty wild it did that! I'm not saying we're doing a stock tank pool....buuuut this let's me know what to look out for as we do ours haha
Let me know if you need my “expertise” LOL!! Just don’t do it in 90 degree weather!!
Love the colour. Sorry the first try didn't go well. Praying for better results next time.
Huge love ❤ from Canada.
Thanks Heather!! It really is beautiful!! This is from August of last year when we finally worked on it. Im ready to start the pool up again as soon as the temperature warms up :)
@1:15 Love the "Gonn be fun". Haha

With carpentry work, you measure twice, and cut once.
When painting (especially with a product like this), think twice before you start, come up with a practical strategy, forget the fact camera is there, and Get-r-Done!
My suggestion would be: 1) Determine how much area the kit will adequately cover.
2) Mix it up.
3) Walk around pouring adequate amounts necessary on the floor of the tank, while using a standard size paint roller on a long, or adjustable paint stick, to rapidly roll the complete floor.
4) Stand the tank on it's side. (Ideally) have someone to roll the tank as you pour and roll the the sides.
BOOM BABY, YOU DONE! 🙂👍

Good afternoon Chrissy and Jeremy 🌞
Good Morning!! :)
Would vodka delete it again? Idk..
Mix little bits.....remember alcohol, vodka, etc.
Looking great. What you were able to get done.
Adding a little non-skid additive to the paint for the bottom might be a good idea
HELLO 🤗 hard job in the heat - color is pretty 😉 bummer it hardened so quick 🥺 good luck finishing it🤞
Thank you Karen!! It was crazy especially smoking!! It worked out at the end and we love it now!
It looks like you scraped the silicone out of the seams. Did you have any issues with leaks?
Love the color. Maybe you should have sprayed it on. Would have gone faster before the paint had time to harden. Good luck with the rest✌️🇺🇸❤️
I have a 750 gallon rectangular poly stock pond would you recommend this, it's leaking somewhere and I have no idea where
Think it would be amazing bc if no rust but the leaking I have no idea, I refused to cut any holes in the stock tank.
😱😱😱 Oh no!!! It looks so great but holy 🐑💩! I can't believe it hardened that fast and was smoking...CRAZY! So sorry you have to deal with waiting for more product to finish! 😭 Oh...almost forgot to mention...NERVOUS! 😜🤣❤️

Chrissy let us all know soon the pros and cons to this, and if it worked,I’d love to do this if it works for sure I’m in central Canada 🇨🇦so I’m thinking it’s maybe not as humid nor hot if I start it soon,it looks like fun really, and I’m not a blue person but I loved that blue on the stock tank!! 😊I went over to FB and joined a stock tank group I don’t know if it’s the same one or not that ur on there was a few to choose from, but the pics are amazing 😊 can’t wait to see your end results hopefully soon as I don’t want to order anything till I know it works for sure and why it hardened so quickly on you,I’m thinking your heat crossed with the epoxy as I’ve worked with it before and if it’s to hot in the area it will harden quickly on a countertop for sure, also wondering if the smoking was due to plastic pail? May have nothing to do with plastic I’m not sure I’ve just never seen it smoke before like that have you? It does get warm though!! Let us know soon k !! Love from Canadian nana ❤
Good Morning!! The end result is amazing. It was just to hot outside to do this project. The smoking was the chemical reaction to the hardener. I love the way the STP looks and feels, it is a very thick durable finish and i dont have to worry about rust anymore!!
@@ParagonRidgeRanch oh good glad it turned out,do we get to see it? Lol I’m so excited to do this
Delta blue and nervous
Thank you so much you did good job but very slow ❤ KSA
I know you might be upset with the manufacturer but it says right in the directions to only makes up as much product as you're going to be able to use in 20 to 30 minutes. Plus it should be done, in the coolest part of the day. Always always mix your paint using measured mixing cups. You can get them at any home improvement store. It makes it easy to only mix up what you're going to use in those 20 to 30 minutes.
I started with pond shield and rust still got through, now I'm looking into a liner which I see didn't work for you. So um, moral of the story, just buy something made for this to begin with. I've wasted so much money I could have afforded a nice hot tub and just not heat it in the summer.
If it was 90 degrees when you did this task, then you probably got about 10 - 15 min work time at most. Epoxy takes heat to cure or setup, notice the amount of heat it generated as you played with it with your son? If you had done the exact same steps when it was 45 degrees outside you probably would have gotten 30 or even 45 mins work time. In hindsight, a quarter of your package at a time and you should have been able to get it done. It would have taken longer and maybe even 4 buckets.....I have seen a toss away plastic paint tray used to speed up the rolling. Hope you guys got this to work for you in the end. I will try and see if I can find a follow up on your site.
Oh no 😮
Just think of the epoxy like it's a glue-like an epoxy glue that you're mixing once you mix it it starts a reaction that start warming it up so it will dry faster he'll next time mix it all up and then dump it all in the barrel and then use your breast to move it out like self-leveling
Smoking
When I saw you painting I knew right away you were going way to slow. You have to work fast with epoxy and only mix half at a time.
Nervous
get rid of that tank and buy a poly tank, way better
