Also a mixing tip ... mix parts A and B in a cup and then pour the mixed material into your paint tray. This is the same thing with epoxy resin - it is virtually impossible to mix the sides of the container well so by pouring from a mixing container into your paint tray you don't end up with un-mixed epoxy on the sides. The epoxy that does not get fully mixed can sometimes never cure and will make a sticky awful mess. So to recap - mix parts A&B and alcohol in a mixing container then pour those contents into your final container used for application.
All I do is mix the WHOLE batch, pour it all in and use my roller to to spread it around evenly. Done in 10 minutes. It's a LOT easier to do it that way too and it spreads very well, with less work having to redip your roller/brush.
I love the epoxy color and the fact that it is epoxy! Much prettier than rusty metal, I just wish you would’ve put down another, thicker layer on the floor but other than that it’s beautiful
Oh,… I wish too!! Just wait, still don’t have it up and going this year… sand and 2nd coat on its way
Anchors away that looks very refreshing nice job,
Your video was SOOOO HELPFUL!!! Thank you so much. I used two boxes as well and had issues with rust. Can’t wait to fill!
That pool looks awesome!! Thanks for showing us all the steps to do this I’m going to have to give it a go thanks Chrissy 😊
you did amazing job on the stock tank pool
We are going to paint the bottom of our stock tank with the pond shield soon. Thanks for the information
Chrissy - such an awesome pool 💦ENJOY💖
That looks absolutely amazing
Love these videos, and you are looking great in pink too btw
Mix it, keep rollin, and heat wave with anchor. Looking good
Everyone, save your time, energy and money. I did the stock tank pool thing a year ago. I sanded the heck out of it and had a great bite in the steel, used vinegar, SEM self etching primer and spend a lot of $ on Pond Shield. It lasted one summer and that’s it. Came out several weeks ago to uncover the pool and fill it up….nope! The epoxy had bubbled and peeled from 90% of the tank. Now I’m scraping the rest off of it and trying to figure out what to do next if anything at all.
It was amazing while it lasted but not worth it imo.
Good luck everyone!
Looks good Chrissy, now I know. Thank you for sharing
He is a cutiepie (originally seen on The Crockers), keep on rollin' ❤
We used the same product but used the super pure dark blue color and used 4 kits total for extra thick coating. Also added some traction grit into the epoxy to make it non slip.
Have you done this? Will it peel at all? I'm hesitant I'm going to end up with peeling scrached mess. My dogs are pretty rough which is why i chose the metal in the 1st place.
@@melbaround if done right there is no peeling and no scratching
@@wantapgt make a video if yours has held up and done right. It can be quick. I would be super greatful
😂👍🏼keep rolling Rollin rolliin, keep them pools a rollin!
Good evening Chrissy & Jeremy
Can you update about how it turned out? Did it at least last the season? Also where did you get your waterfall? Love the video and personality 😊
Keep rollin!!
Nice I could sleep well with water running
keep rollin
Great job crazy looks great
Love your earrings
There are a few essential steps / tips that I would like to add for our new Epoxy / Tank Pool coating users :
1. I DO NOT advise to execute this project for esthetic purposes. Only if it is needed (for rusted pool for example) . It is not an easy project. Applying coat is not the same as painting walls. The relatively small size of the pool may be misleading . It is still a lot of effort. I am sure everyone here can agree that the project may take a couple of days.
2. Paint roller DOES NOT do well with the Epoxy. It is a heavily coated material and the brush is just too soft. The coat will stay on the brush and will damage it. Naturally the coat application won't be even. I suggest to use a heavy wide brush
3. Mixing - 2 : 1 ration is ok. However I would suggest to mix 2.5 (paint) : 1 (coat) to achieve a thicker color. The standard Epoxy boxy shipped from Amazon 48 fl oz , will allow the ratio.
Keep in mind that for a Stock Tank Pool of a size of 8 foot , you will need (At LEAST!!!) 4 packages of paint (In the video it may seem that 1 package is enough? very unlikely)
4. I recommend to allow the paint to dry completely after each application . There is a difference with how the thickness of the paint may look over time. It is different from when it was first applied.
5. Apply the paint from the top layers , painting around the pool and to the bottom , when the bottom part of the pool is painted last. When the paint is applied , it may leak / drip with the gravity (which is a good thing - it makes the paint thicker on the lower levels). For heavy leaking , I suggest to keep wiping it with a towel.
6. I can't stress this enough . One container is hardly enough. The paint is faded when applying 1 or 2 layers. You will need at least 4 packages of paint.
7. It's a "messy" project and I would advise to do the project and the mixing outdoors. This paint may not come off from the basement floor . Use gloves!
8. The mixing can be done in the painting tray , to reduce waste.
I would like to say thanks for the video. It helped me to kick off my project. Thank you!
Good strong farmer boy.

I made the same mistake. I heated the epoxy up a little to help eliminate bubbles but I heated it up a little more than I usually do and I mixed 1 gallon total. Within 5 minutes it was smoking and boiling and the plastic bucket was melting. Dumped a gallon of water on it to help cool it down. 3 hours later, it was still almost too hot to touch.
Great idea :)
Keep it rolling, rolling😅
Mix it! Hope it works!
I just finished printed ours! We used a primer before we used the epoxy. Can you share details for the water fall please?
lol they didn't even respond... their stuff is in the description. Including the waterfall

Great job! In the second video how many times did you need to ill up the aluminum pan?

I need one of those pools 😂 that is so cool Chrissy ❤ I love the view from your front porch

Were using the same tank & epoxy, but were hesitant to add the chlorine to the water. Did yours hold up to the chlorine??
Very cool! Thank you for sharing. In the end how much epoxy did you need? Would 1 kit be enough? How has it held up over the winter?
I used 2 boxes because of the problem. I thing 2 would be the amount needed if it worked out well the first coat, a second is much needed
@@ParagonRidgeRanch What is the size of your pool? for an 8 foot pool I need 4 kits. The paint looks faded when 1 or 2 kits are applied.
So it’s been 11 months is the epoxy still holding up no chipping or anything? We are getting ready to do ours just wanted to make sure you’re not having any issues
😁👍💞
Did you epoxy over the stock tank's sealant (at the seam), or did you remove this first?
I got the white and it is pretty much clear. I’m so upset. It’s not opaque at all!
Would love an update on the pool.
Which part is the hardener, part A or part B? Add just a tad less hardener and it will take longer to harden giving you more work time.
The clear one. I ended up adding alcohol to it on the second round;) that video should post in 6 minutes;)
Be careful -- it is really not a good idea to mess with the ratios in any epoxy - you can end up with a sticky gooey mess that never completely cures ( it is a chemical process that was engineered for a certain ratio ). For instance - too much hardener can actually make it take longer to cure which is the opposite of what you would think. Small batches are the key - as well as following manufacturer recommendations about working times etc. This manufacturer recommends the IPA for thinning it out - not sure if the IPA extends the working time or not.
Hi sweet lady, I'm Lilah Newton 😁 (temporary name change) I love your pool 💯💜

Can you give us an update? How is this holding up? I used flex seal and it chipped. Now im looking for a different solution.
Thanks for sharing this information. I'm looking for an update too
How big is your stock tank? Looks great
That little bit painted the pool?

Did y’all totally remove the rust or just paint over it? Has any come back?
Jeremy sanded the whole inside with a machine and air blew it out first:)
what gph pump did yall use?
Will this peel? Anyone done anything like this a year or two ago and still happy with the paint?
anchor
Why doesn't it look like it's one solid coat ? Is it supposed to look like that I would think you'd want it to be a solid color not look like some of it has more than others before saying it's finished ?
What did you do to the inside of the tank first Thanh you
First we sanded it with the round sander, got all the rust off then wiped it down with rubbing alcohol.
How much paint did you need to paint pool?
How has the epoxy held up over time??
It did last year, this year when we turned it over, it has small rust spots from me not coating it thick enough. I just ordered more and will be applying it this week.
@@ParagonRidgeRanch no peeling or chipping near the rim?
mix it
Did the paint have fumes?
No not at all, not sure if I was use to it but I don’t even remember any smell at all
what is Pond Shield is it better than a liner ?
It's a rubber like coating that's applied in liquid form.
In my semi professional opinion. A traditional rubber ( pond liner ) is far easier and cheaper . However if you have a issue with leaking . This will seal it

Gonna last about 2.5 years, garbage, started to rust, get a pool liner
R all your videos 9 months behind????????????????????
Not all, just some that need posted at the best time of the year for them to be utilized. Working 6 days a week makes it more difficult sometimes ;)
Why is your stock tank all rusty looking?
Did you watch the video? It explains the reason for the video;)
I don’t wanna just criticize, but this paint job won’t last long at all. Y’all should have sand blasted off that heavy rust first. Unless I missed a part where you said you couldn’t care less how long it lasts.
I wish y’all well, but you can NEVER paint over rust unless the product specifically says to paint over rust. 🤷🏻
This was a 2nd video, the first shows all the sanding and hard work. Thanks for helping;)
that paint eventually flakes.... do not go this direction... Water eventually finds its way through any micro pores. Waste of money... I just had to sand rust and buy a pool liner... thats the way to go
I tried to buy a liner that was suggested in an STP Facebook page. It didn’t fit. It’s an 8ft STP, do you have a brand that would work well?
Alright I take that back on the pool liner. I bought one from an amazon seller, but recently failed on me after 3 days of use. I am now in the process of restarting the entire project and building it out of the "poly stock tank" They make those too. I think that the metal ones eventually do just rust and or flake any kind of paint and it is annoying and too much work. I have had my hot tub for 5 years and today is the day I am done with the metal ones lol
@@ParagonRidgeRanch
Does the liner tear easy?! I went the epoxy route bc we have 4 kids and 2 labs, I was afraid of the liner tearing.
@@KGolden02 Liner was weak also lol! I recently went with an entire new setup. I bought the Poly stock tank same size. I miss my metal one, but I did have a realization. I think I will just have to replace the metal one every 4-6 years. Chlorine just eats paint and metal.
