We are Casey and Savannah- two best friends who moved from Nashville to the Upper Cumberland region of the Appalachian Mountains in Tennessee in October 2021. We have 7 chickens, 3 cats, and 2 dogs. We have 5 acres of raw land that we are turning into an off-grid homestead. We've been blogging with Hey Wanderer since 2011. After our stock tank pool DIY went viral on this channel in 2017, we started a separate business called Stock Tank Pool Authority. Follow along with us every Sunday as we post videos about making the transition from city life to off grid life and building it all from the ground up!

Oh my word! Storm!
You two are such fun.
Friends are the best!
We did sky blue and it worked really well. I recommend adding alcohol, pouring the paint directly into the tank in puddles, 1 person squeegee, another person paint with an extended roller, paint the base first and then with the excess paint the walls. Took about two kits, and a lot of fast pace elbow grease.
We didn't like using alcohol at all, but we did pour it directly in. Not sure if you watched the whole video as we addressed these things... Overall our pool is coated and protected so I'd say ours worked out too. We also have a 10 ft. tank so 2 kits was not enough. I do think the colors do better than white. Most of the people I found who have the biggest problems have used white.
great video - we did ours in Sky Blue about 2 years ago - and found that we are having to do it again this year - the first time was just as bad as you all had it - the sanding was insane!- this year, it's much easier - no sanding - but we did find the rust was trying to come thru again - so we hit those areas with primer, then we plan to repaint the whole pool with Pond Shield as soon as we get a couple of rain-free days on the horizon.
I just think y'all are doing such a great job on all your projects...hope you all post a lot more!!
Thanks!
That was a lot of work and money! I’m glad I invested in the plastic tank initially! Good neighbors are priceless!
Yes, our neighbors are so great! And yes much work and money. Glad that it’s done and we have our 10 ft. tank up and running, but wouldn’t necessarily do it again unless we absolutely need to.
@@HEYWANDERER you still have plenty of warm weather to enjoy it this season! Also, I saw another video after this that showed them installing the poly tank into the metal tank!
I love it. It looks great! 👌
Casey manifested a storm to get out of doing the set up!! 😂
I just laughed so hard!
Nice work! How much Pond Shield product did guys end up buying? Thanks!!
It's been 2 years since I had painted the inside of our 8 foot diameter stock tank pool. Unfortunately when we drained the pool this year, it started cracking and peeling. I applied another layer of pond epoxy paint and I have the same frustrations and challenges as you have. I'm thinking of going with a vinyl wrap instead. Just wanted your thoughts. Or even a video if you decide to go that route.
Do they not make a wrap for the outside of the pool.
How is pond shield holding up after install now? Thanks!
Is doing well! Hope to have an update video when we get the pool opened up this summer
Will this paint peel if the pool is also a hot tub?
Should be fine as long as you follow the instructions on the product! That’s what really matters.
So in the video from a month ago you were painting a new stock tank, does that mean this method didn't hold up?
Do you think the truck bed liner that can be sprayed on at an auto body place would work on the pool?
No, that’s something we’ve looked into but were told by the guys that were going to apply it that it wouldn’t work.
@@HEYWANDERER good to know! Thank you!
Do you still install stock tanks in Tn?
We are sold out for the season in TN! Still installing in TX though lol
