- These are the Mistakes I made painting the inside and outside of our stock tank pool! Made a ton mistakes painting the inside (using pond shield) and the outside of our stock tank!
I used Krud Kutter to remove the film from the galvanized metal, and to etch the surface so paint will stick. I used Zinser Bullseye 123 primer with a blue tint added to paint the floor and walls. I also coated the bottom of the tank with black-tar foundation coating to protect the metal from rusting against the earth. These were suggestions in the comments of other YT videos. I did all this in 2020. So far no rust, but each year, I have a few spots that have peeled down to the etched metal... they are smaller than a business card. The floor gets scratched up by my shop-vac when I clean it out each season, and also by a step-stool we keep in the water to help the little kids get out. I keep an all-season sump pump in the pool to keep the water level below an inch during off-seasons. I cannot flip the pool over... I built a deck all the way around it.
Love the idea! But the shirt is the best, now I want to listen to Taylor.
This is sooo cool!!! I want to be like u when I grow up ❤️❤️❤️
You want to grow up to be a person that can’t follow directions?
Did you have to sand in between the first and second coats of pond shield?
how much pond shield did it take to do the entire inside of the stock tank
I've been thinking about doing this. Looks like more work than I might want to do.
Pool it self is much easier! No one says I have to paint it.. at least not the first year or two!
@@gomezfamilyteam I think if I did do it I would want the epoxy on the inside. I'll probably skip it. When I was a kid I remember swimming in ibc totes. 😂
how did the pond armor hold up against the rubber sealant that was already on the tank?
Hey Alyssa, the 2.5” drill but seems a little too small for the inlet and outlets from the intex pool pump. It’s basically the exact size of the larger threads on them. Did you guys use the 2.5 you put in the video? And did you have to play with the hole at all for them to fit?
Hey! We used the 2 3/4 the 70mm bit
Do you have experience working with epoxy?!
Hi there!! Did you skip the self etching primer? Is it not needed? Thanks!!
Yes! I used the 30% vinagre for this. That’s what I did at (1:10)
Hi there! How much of the Pond shield paint did you buy?
2 of the smaller sets! (Link I description)
How is it holding up now?
Only a few months in! But still looks great. 0 chipping. However. The bumps I mentioned from the spounge/epoxy drying out are super pokey feeling in the water-almost sharp even. And the lines where I messed up make layer of epoxy with the brushes have “added texture” the debris settles into! But if
Lol. So you didn't read the instructions.
